The restaurant is right on a busy corner so there were a lot of people watching available. I was greeted quicker than I had anticipated, I had requested a soda. I had a hard time deciding what to order since the restaurant offers a large selection of Italian food. I finally decided on the Spaghetti Carbonara. I will say, the pizza did look amazing (took a peek from a nearby table). It was great relaxing at the table watching the world go by. When the meal was delivered, I was not disappointed. The dish was well seasoned, the pasta was fresh, just a great meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the great service, meal and the view. Enjoy

We're passing by this lovely restaurant and I decided to finally give pasta another chance. This was and is the best decision I have made in food. I arrived for dinner around 8 pm on the night of a bank holiday in Belgium. Many places were shuttered in the city and the idea of pushing my way through a crowded bar scene in hopes of finding food wasn't too tantalizing. As such, I ended up here. It was right down the street from my hotel so I had passed it a few times. It looked like a classy modern yet casual spot. And it is. But I'm not so sure it's good for solo travelers. I walked in and was given a table away from the drafty entrance, which I appreciated, but I then waited quite a while just for a menu. A couple seated long after me had menus in hand first. I ordered a Chimay (when in Belgium) and the strozzapreti con crema di melanzane. It arrived with a salty ricotta side. Apparently some diners don't like the ricotta. I can say I thought it made the dish so much better and would've been totally bland without it. I was feeling awkward as I sat and noticed other parties getting exceptional treatment. Other people were treated to a listing of the evening's specials. I only overheard them. I will say the owner (manager?) was very sweet. He was the one who ended up bringing my check (after I asked twice) and he was all smiles. I think it's better to come with a group here (a guy on his own sat down, waited a bit, then hauled out without ordering) and to order something with fish. Also their desserts looked pretty good.

Unfortunately the positives end there, while waiting for our main course we heard a microwave ding and the door open and close, and immediately our plates were brought out. The swordfish I ordered was dry and the vegetables with both dishes were mush and totally overcooked; both obviously microwaved. This might be a great place to stop and have a coffee, but I would steer clear of ordering any main dishes unless you like that authentic microwave taste.

From Instagram: The 'Nduja and Lemon pasta is a signature year-round favorite dish at NONA Pasta restaurants in Brussels. It features fresh spaghetti alla chitarra tossed with spicy Calabrian 'nduja pork sausage, fresh lemon, and Parmigiano Reggiano, with an option to top it with creamy stracciatella. I love that this restaraunt has an onsite pasta atelier. They keep to traditional Italian recipes while sourcing local ingredients for a true farm to table experience. The end result, a masterpiece! Everything's fresh, authentic and flavorful. This particular dish, in my opinion is the star of the show. It IS somewhat spicy without being overbearingly hot...this is part of the allure. I'm sure that I'll visit again before leaving Brussels and will, yes - order the exact same dish! Must eat outside and do a bit of people watching as visitors transit the city center. Thought about making reservations, but instead we just got there right when they opened and there would've been no need. Granted it was a work week night, literally for the entire hour we were there only two tables arrived. And I was counting us. Perhaps later you might want a reservation or you might have to wait. There were only about seven or eight tables me entire thing so it's cozy. The one person running the cash register and taking orders, was very kind, but a little distracted on her phone. I wonder if she was doing work. She was very sweet though and gave good recommendations. My friend got the Ragu while I opted for the gnocchi. I actually preferred the Ragu for sure. The meat was tender and delicious, and the noodles were thick and delightful. The gnocchi kind of tasted a little, bland and repetitive. To be honest, I wish we could've shared like five tiny plates. Felt like I was eating way too much gnocchi and didn't get a lot of diversity. The bacon on top did help a little. The dishes were about 25 a piece, but they definitely tasted homemade. We opted for the bruschetta as a starter and I would've skipped that. The tomatoes were super fresh and the bread was good but the olive oil was playing. Don't think it was worth $10. The wine selection was brilliant. Generally pretty affordable for the quality. Some delicious wines there that night. Love love, love the aesthetic. We definitely want to return and try some new things.
