West Omaha

Universal Electric was called to my home for what appeared to be a breaker issue. By the time their…read moretwo technicians arrived, the issue had already resolved itself. I asked them to investigate further in case the problem returned, but they declined, saying "there's nothing we can do." They never entered the home, never inspected anything, and only briefly stepped out of their van into my driveway to talk to me before leaving. At no point during the scheduling call was I told there would be a service fee. When the techs arrived, they made no mention of a charge, nor did they provide any kind of invoice or paperwork before leaving. I later received three bills by mail, each demanding $130, with no explanation of what the charge was for -- just a warning that failure to pay would result in the account being sent to collections. I did not believe the charge was warranted and disputed it in writing via certified mail with return receipt, which Universal Electric received and signed for. They never responded. No follow-up, no phone call, no documentation -- just silence. Eventually, they turned the matter over to a collection agency. It's frustrating to be billed for a visit where no service was performed, no agreement was made, and no information was shared upfront about potential charges. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Universal Electric.

FCR Performance in Omaha can get your Hot Rod Rollin again! Read my review!…read more Owning a collector car and not being a mechanic is a difficult and daunting experience. Now I know my in's and outs of cars and can do the little things. oil change, spark plugs, etc. Body work and the little things of a 50's car not so much and is no easy task of determining where to begin. The next step is finding someone who you can trust with your baby and that knows the type of car you have. Again no easy task when is come to 50's hot rods and then Cadillac's to boot. After some research and talking to my other car friend. I decided to give a old timer a try. One he's been there done that and seen it all. Two would the younger guys really know 50's cars? I did some research and Terry at FCR Performance had some not so nice reviews years back. For the most part you have to take some of it for what it could be. Upset people and business competitor's. After talking with Terry it was clear that he had had a run of bad luck with a shop fire and he had taken major knocks that had set him back. For me this project was where he was at NOW and if I felt he could do the job better than the other guy. I can tell you that I am glad I went with FCR Performance. A 1959 Cadillac is not a beast for everyone. Terry knows these cars along with Oldsmobile's. He has quite the Racing history and even with a few misguided business decisions in the past. The work and dedication he put into my ride was what you would expect if he was working on his own ride. I know I can count on him for all restoration work and he will back up his work. Terry and FCR Performance isn't the cheapest and not the most expensive. But do you really want the cheapest guy doing the work on your baby. Like any project you really need to set priority for the work done and make sure you and the business has a clear understanding of the cost involved and set a budget. Just remember collector cars and older hot rods always are going to cost more than you expect! There is always something unforeseen that comes up with you start ripping into a older car. I would highly recommend Terry and his shop. He did me right and I do feel you can trust him and your ride will be back on the road!
