Great food, with a lot of options. But the bathroom needs to be cleaner. The food area is clean

Best butter chicken! We also get the mango chicken, also amazing. But, the butter chicken is our favorite from any other we've had.

Good News: I'm upping a star because of my most recent take-out experience. YAHOO!…read more Cook time continues to be zippy, which I'm grateful to report. The upped star has to do with the food. This time around, I ordered a two-curry combo with dal tadka and chana masala, and I also ordered the cauliflower 65 appetizer. Since we eat with our eyes, I admit I was a tad disappointed when I opened the tray and saw what appeared to be smaller portions. However, it's more about the vessel choice. There really is plenty of food for a meal + leftovers. Both of my curries were well-spiced and--dare I say--a tad spicy. YAHOO! The chana masala is so delicious. I don't think I can eat Chalo takeout without it now. My only critique is that the cauliflower 65, while fried and spiced well, needs some salt and perhaps its own dipping sauce...and I'm aware I can dunk my curries or green chutney that comes with the samosas. One thing to note if you're picking up your order: ordering via the website/DoorDash is cheaper than ordering via the Yelp app/GrubHub. I'm so happy that Holland has a five-star Indian restaurant. May it remain so!

It's been along time since we've had such good Indian food here in Holland . And if you are GF this is the place for you ! Tons of great options to choose from. Madras Indian Grill was suggested and everyone seemed excited as most of us hadn't been there before and we were craving Indian food. The restaurant is pretty large and we were one of a few parties dining in. The menu is huge, with lots of great options for vegetarians, but be careful if you have a nut allergy as many items have cashews and/or almonds. Our friend was directed to the chicken vindaloo which doesn't have cashews. I like that they also feature south Indian items as well as Indo-Chinese dishes. They also have non-alcoholic drinks and desserts. We started with two orders of the veggie samosas, which were excellent. I find that sometimes samosas can be dry, but not these! The mint and tamarind sauces were flavorful and tasty. I'd get these every time. For my entree, I got the palak paneer and also the chicken hakka noodles, as I've never had them before. We also got two orders of garlic naan and an order of paratha. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything was so good. I loved the flavors of the palak paneer (although it was not spicy at all -- I ordered it "American medium spicy") and the textures of the hakka noodles. I couldn't believe the portion sizes in relation to price -- the entrees were all around $12-$14 and were generous portions as we all had leftovers. Our server was kind of roasting us for our orders (telling us the butter chicken was bad and we should order something else, commenting on our spice level preferences, etc.). They have a lunch buffet Friday-Sunday that I really want to check out (they said the menu rotates for that and you can find the items on their social media), but otherwise I think this will be a good takeout spot for me. It took quite a bit of time for us to get our checks and to-go containers. But I'm so glad I got to try this food and I'll be eating my way through the menu!

Ive probably been 5 times now and each time their has been a funky, chemical like smell in the restaurant. The employees are also not the friendliest. I usually get takeout and when I do ive had to wait up to 30 minutes past the time that I chose for pick up, if the food isnt going to be ready until 5:30 dont tell me I can pick it up at 5. But... with all that being said the food has been really good. I usually get butter chicken from them. The chicken is well seasoned, the gravy is thick and seasoned heavily. Its not the best Butter Chicken I've ever had but for Michigan its pretty darn good. They give you a healthy amount of rice, but its not the best rice I've tried. Their naan is better then most ive tried around the GR area, soft and pillowy. The food is about a 4 but the service and ambiance are closer to 2.

The decor inside was light, fresh, and inviting. Parking is easy. It is on the corner of mostly closed storefronts, and next to Cookie Crumble. They only had one small table inside. I ordered the Lamb Biryani along with Garlic Naan Bread. The owner told me that the lamb was real. I have only found one other place, in the area, that has pure lamb. Most have a combo of beef and some lamb. The lamb was a bit dry and somewhat bland in taste. I had the medium spice with the cucumber sauce. Which improved the taste. I give my overall rating with a measure of grace since they have been open for a short time. I will return and try other menu items. I would suggest trying it out especially if you fancy Indian food with a few twists.

The samosas were fine but the paneer pieces in the entrée were not grilled as advertised and, more importantly, the Masala sauce was scorched. The owner offered a replacement entrée but when asked to text me the offer, I was lied to, and the offer has not been texted to me. Because of the nature of my work, I have no idea when I'll be in Holland, MI. So, I only wanted verification of his offer, so when I do return there's no confusion. It's terribly sad when business owners don't protect their reputation.

I called ahead to make sure they were open, but they are closed on Tuesdays starting July 2025. I arrived right after 11 am and the front doors were still locked, but someone came and opened them up. The dining room is large and bright, and I was the only customer there the whole time. They have a daily lunch buffet from 11 am-3 pm, so I decided to try that out first. The buffet had tandoori chicken, aloo matar, chicken biryani, chicken curry, eggplant curry, gulub jamun, chicken nuggets, fries, and some salads and sauces. I got a little bit of most things - I loved the aloo matar (potatoes and peas) and the chicken curry, but everything was hot and fresh. I decided to order the matar paneer to try as well - this is one of Nate's favorite dishes, while I usually get butter chicken. The dish was piping hot and served with rice. The sauce was not as thick as I've had before, but it was very flavorful and savory, and the medium spice level was pretty mild for me. I really liked this and would love to try their butter chicken next time. Service was good, but again I was the only person in the restaurant. There was only one employee that I saw tending to the buffet and serving me. Tandoori Hut is pretty far from my house but I'd come back for the buffet. I paid $14.99 for the lunch buffet, which I think was a very fair price.

I used to be really insecure about eating at ethnic restaurants, especially Indian, because I didn't grow up eating the cuisine. Now that I've eaten at many Indian restaurants across the state and country, I know that some of my concerns are not related to Indian dining, but this place in particular. First, as others have said, it's not normal to charge for rice and maintain prices of $17+ per entree. Second, and more importantly, dine-in service times are ridiculous. Twice in a row now I've waited 45 min+ between ordering entrees and receiving them, and this time, I was basically told it was my fault because my expectations were off and I didn't tell them I was in a hurry. I wasn't in a hurry, but to me, waiting more than 25 minutes or so without any visit from a server (including to refill drinks) is just not great service. This was compounded by the fact that no one around us had received food, but to-go orders were coming out of the kitchen to the front of the restaurant every couple of minutes with urgency. When I quietly asked the manager what was going on, she told me that's just how they do things, then came back to my table again to tell me that my expectations weren't reasonable and I could ask next time for them to bring the food out faster. (To the detriment of other customers? Why not be efficient in the first place?) I will say I haven't tried the lunch buffet. It seems that maybe this place is best for lunch or carryout, since that seems to get their attention at night,
