This time around, I ordered a two-curry combo with dal tadka and chana masala, and I also ordered the cauliflower 65 appetizer. Since we eat with our eyes, I admit I was a tad disappointed when I opened the tray and saw what appeared to be smaller portions. However, it's more about the vessel choice. There really is plenty of food for a meal + leftovers. Both of my curries were well-spiced and--dare I say--a tad spicy. YAHOO! The chana masala is so delicious. I don't think I can eat Chalo takeout without it now. My only critique is that the cauliflower 65, while fried and spiced well, needs some salt and perhaps its own dipping sauce...and I'm aware I can dunk my curries or green chutney that comes with the samosas. One thing to note if you're picking up your order: ordering via the website/DoorDash is cheaper than ordering via the Yelp app/GrubHub. I'm so happy that Holland has a five-star Indian restaurant. May it remain so!

Both times we had the same server and she was so incredibly nice and helpful and even had suggestions when my boyfriend and I were unsure where to start. I tried the Lychee Juice and it was so good!! It just looks a bit cloudy. I researched the juice and it's pretty good for you too which is always a plus! Only thing not pictured of what we tried (on Monday) was the Vegetable Samosa. It was good, as was the other appetizer, the onion bhaji but I honestly got bored after a little bit and didn't finish my samosa and only ate one of the onion bhajis. The toppings were not cut for pizza's and it was clear to us that they were the same veggies they prepared for their curries. Huge chunks of peppers etc. The naan pizza was disappointing. It was $15 for a McCormick's tasting curry sauce with oddly cut veggies found under the cheese. The chicken had been toasted so long I thought they were croutons until I took a bite. Not worth it. The cheese sticks for the kids had some curry sauce brushed on with melted cheese and jalapeño. The man knew I was ordering it for the kids and the menu didn't say it came with anything but bread and cheese. SMH. That was a wasted $11. All of this took over 20 minutes to prepare. We were the only patrons. The place was dark, dusty and when we sat at the booth offered to us, I almost fell through to the floor. We chose to eat outside, across the street at some picnic tables because it was sunny and the air smelled fresh. The owners were nice enough, but I had to request napkins and the food was just okay. When the waitress came to take our order, we explained that we were still waiting for the rest of our group. Her response was very rude. She said, "You told me 15 minutes, and now you want another 30. That's too long. If I had known that, I wouldn't have seated you." She also insisted that we order at least four meals immediately and even told me to call one of the people who hadn't arrived yet to ask what they wanted to order. We understand that restaurants need to keep service moving and that they have policies to follow. However, the way we were treated was unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome. The food looked delicious, and we were genuinely looking forward to dining there. Unfortunately, because of the way we were treated, we decided to leave without eating. I hope this review encourages management to reconsider how customers are treated, especially larger groups. Great customer service can make all the difference.

They have all the classic options, generous portions, fair pricing, and delicious food. The takeaway bag was so heavy that it felt like it was full of bricks. Only downside, there's not much seating. Technically, they said online that they had dine-in, but it was just a few tables in a tiny (very cold) room. We ended up taking the food back home. What others have said about the spice was true, it wasn't all that hot so next time I'd ask for extra spice. Get the crab ragoons!

We came to the area our own this time so thought we'd finally give it a try. I was undecided between the Pad Thai which I almost always get the first visit somewhere and the drunken noodles. It's kind of my gauge to how good the place is because I figure if the can't get this dish right I can't expect the more complex ones to be. We ordered the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and the summer rolls. I'll start with the summer rolls. We typically see them with shrimp and the menu didn't say anything otherwise. There was both shrimp and chicken in them, and they were quite large and loosely wrapped. 2 for $8 was steep though considering the chicken was tough and the shrimp was strong tasting. I couldn't make myself eat them. My husband managed to eat most of one. They came with what was obviously a jarred sweet and sour sauce -another disappointment as peanut sauce is so much better and what I was kind of expecting as that is usually the norm. The drunken noodles had a nice initial flavor but the heat was more than expected for medium. My husband and I always get medium for Thai dishes and typically they are just right or a little light in heat for us. This one they had been a bit generous with the heat so much so that it was almost hard to eat. It said there were a variety of veggies but it really only had green and red peppers. There was a decent amount of chicken in the dish. There may have been some green onion but only a couple of pieces, it felt like it was enough so they could say it was included even though you had to hunt to find them. Last to the Pad Thai, my typical initial gauge for a new to us Thai place. There was a generous amount of noodles, but were on the verge of undercooked. It couldn't figure out the flavor, but they were quite sour compared to any I've had before and I'll have to say it didn't do it for me. I would say they were almost eating wha I would call sweet and sour noodles if I was to give them a name. There was no richness or depth to the flavor at all. Again the items in the noodles were sparse at best. Very little chicken in this one, a crumble of egg, and I think I saw like 4 bean sprouts.. not acceptable for $15. They did have the required peanuts on the top though. Oh, and a slice of lemon, something else I'd not seen served before with Thai food. I had high hopes at this being a great place to visit when we are in the area since we love Grand Haven and I love Thai food but this ain't it. Bummer. So sad.
