This is a rather excellent Pilot station (truck stop, for the uninitiated), which I used on three or four occasions now and will continue to use. It's become my fave in New England, and easily the best stop for gas and hanging out and sleeping in the Albany area. I had a cop follow me out of this place which wasn't great, and then another one which was really friendly to me, so watch out cuz the cops do hang out around here, although they can be pretty cool. But generally speaking it's really good. Gas is cheaper than most in the area and I appreciate it being here a lot. It's a little off the highway but it's well worth the stop.

The burger was well seasoned with different spices, and had a tiny kick to it. It was almost light eating a beef sausage patty. It had cheese on top, and I eventually added some mayo (I wanted to try it plain first). Normally, I add salt and pepper to burgers, but this was already perfectly balanced. I enjoyed this burger, not from my car, as I had intended, but at the picnic tables. I chose one under a pavilion, and there was a beautiful view of nature (and the Taconic State Parkway), and pleasant bird song to accompany the meal. The owner was also friendly, and frankly I love when someone puts an effort into sales.

I like this Mobil anyhow - easy in/out from Route 102 when you are just a couple of miles from the Mass Pike exit. I will usually get my gas and then grab a Diet Coke inside, and yesterday was just awesome. Temps had already reached 90 (90 degrees!) and I was hot, thirsty and a bunch of other things, but none of which could be solved at the Mobil Lipton Mart. The hilarious guy at the register smiled and wished me "the best night of (my) life" after I paid. I just burst out laughing. I posted this on Facebook later, and my friend's comments were great. One suggested that this was really setting me up; I mean, how could I top life so far? I love someone who is just so ridiculously happy to be at work. Or alive... or both.
