It's such a shame they are in the location they are because I think they would be a lot busier with new customers to find them if they didn't have to actually see it, have to drive through a gas station and down a pot-hole filled gravel lot. I would very much recommend Young's for someone looking for the burger/hot dog type of place even though their menu offers so much more!

The first thing I noticed when I walked through the door was the pie case. It was "seat yourself," so I decided to sit at the counter. I was acknowledged and waited on right away. They have menus, but I didn't really need one because of the lighted display boards on the wall above the counter. Originally, I was going to order ice cream but decided on a slice of coconut cream pie and a cup of coffee. Not many people were ordering coffee, so I got a fresh pot. The pie crust was flaky while the filling was rich and creamy. My only regret is that I didn't have enough room to order a slice of peach crumb pie, too. Young's features the piecrete which is a slice of pie blended with soft-serve ice cream. Some of the pie is reserved for the topping. (I will definitely have to try one of those!) Also, on my "to-try" list is the chicken basket. The chicken is given a saltwater rinse (brining), before being breaded and cooked in a pressure fryer. While chicken is what they are famous for, I would say it's their friendly, top-notch service that accounts for their repeat business and longevity. Not many restaurants have been in business for over 70 years! If your travels take you to Valley Park, this place is a must stop. Be sure to check out the photos and memorabilia. Special thanks to the owner, Grant, for giving me additional history and information about Young's. I look forward to going there again.

And it was. The lady at the counter waved and welcomed us like we were family, and was very quick to take our order. I ordered a Cookies n' Creme, and it was phenomenal. The Oreo chunks were plentiful enough to create the perfect blend of Vanilla and Oreo. They also have a large candy section where you can get candies like Saltwater Taffy, Licorice and more. What a variety of things and sweet treats this place has to offer! They also have coffee, which I saw when someone got it, was going to be good. Since it was the evening, I would not want to order a coffee. So I stuck with the Cookies N' Cream. Anyway, the staff was preparing it efficiently, and gave me a lot of bang for my buck after giving plenty of scoops at a good price. Fabulous experience, cannot wait to go back!

Our favorite was the caramel swirl. The caramel was high quality. The create your own flavors were good too, but I wished there was more to them - i.e. a cinnamon swirl in with the roll pieces or extra glaze swirled into the ice cream. Something like that. It's pretty PRICEY ice cream. $25 for 2 pints but it also depends on the type of ice cream. I'm sure pricing will be different when they have a storefront. The company is local and the folks running it are really nice, motivated and creative. They also care about STL and helping revitalize the Crestwood area. Can't wait til they open a shop.

Wally's is basically like a miniature Beaver gas station, and it has become part of our Six Flags…read moretradition! There are so many gas pumps that you should never have to wait for one, and once you walk inside, there's a whole experience waiting for you. They have a similar setup to the Beaver location, with gourmet popcorn, beef jerky, pulled pork, brisket, smash burgers, chicken fingers, hot dogs, and so much more. And, most of the food is pretty reasonably priced. Whenever we go to Six Flags in this area, we have a tradition of stopping at Wally's on the way there to grab dinner. Then, when we leave Six Flags, we'll stop again to get a drink for the drive home. It's usually much more affordable than eating inside the amusement park, and there are so many options that everyone can find something they like. This weekend, our group had a little bit of everything. We had someone get a hot dog, someone got chicken fingers, others had smash burgers, chopped brisket, and pulled pork. Everyone agreed it was "bussin," which, according to the high schoolers, means it was really good! They also have these kettle chips that come in a bag that doesn't look particularly huge, but somehow there are SO many chips inside. We passed the bag around the car and still had leftovers for the ride home. The girls also had to get a slushie, which was especially refreshing because it was so hot outside. And since they have their own bakery, I grabbed a cookie, and it did not disappoint. There's also plenty of shopping, including blankets, T-shirts, postcards, stickers, and all kinds of other souvenirs. They even have their own hot sauce! This definitely isn't a place where you're going to run in, grab something, and immediately leave. There's so much to look at that you're going to spend some time wandering around. For us, Wally's has become just as much a part of the Six Flags experience as the amusement park itself. It's something we look forward to both on the way there and on the way home, and this weekend was no exception!

I feel this is a good way to keep customers coming back for more. Now this location in Kirkwood, I came on a Thursday night and it was packed. This location is a lot smaller than the Ballwin so I was a bit confused with the drive thru as the space was so tight. I came in from Kirkwood Rd but for easier access to the drive thru, they want you to enter from the best street (which I want aware) as the drive thru curves. Lucky the line wasn't busy as I was able to get thru ok. The staff was outside taking orders and they were so friendly. Looks like someone was in training as there were 2 people. Both staff members were just so pleasant and engaging. After placing my order, I proceeded to checkout and collect my items. The cashier was not as friendly as the other 2 but whatever. Since both locations are the same distance from me (Ballwin), I likely wouldn't return to this location due to the size but I would have my teens come here with friends as it seems to be a nice hangout spot for them.

I've been many of times to Ted Drewes even when it is cold out. This Andy's is a new addition to Crestwood. Given my wife (and kids') love of all things ice-cream adjacent we decided to check it out. The store itself is simple, there is a window to order from and then a collection of benches and tables to eat at. There aren't a ton of sitting spots, so most people were getting their desserts to go. The kids were THRILLED at the option that is "dirt" which means it has cookies and gummy worms. I had a strawberry shortcake which was amazing. I don't remember what my wife got (she didn't share), I want to say it was a gooey butter cake item. Overall all were very good and we will be back.
