Sadly, I've liked a few but…read moreultimately moved on when they ( and I mean ALL of the 8 salons I've tried in the past 4 years) decided I had to be platinum...So, I decided to try one more salon, Waylon, before I headed back up to LA to find a warm blonde highlight and a base color that would hide my grays for an entire month. Seems easy? I thought so, too, but it was illusive in La Jolla!! Enter Alli, owner of Waylon. WOW! I had a consult first as I'm tired of dropping a lot of money for tragic hair! She listened and we discussedmy hair for a good half hour....She is the ONLY colorist that got it. I couldn't be happier! Even my husband is going to Taylor at Waylon now who totally gets his hair ( and that ain't easy!) We found our home! There's no losing at this salon!! :)

She's now cut, bleached, and mixed up custom colors to dye my hair multiple times for me. She somehow knows exactly how to translate my requests into perfect hair, and I don't make that easy for her. I'm never exactly sure what I want, but I am picky--I give her mismatched inspo pics and vague answers as to just what kind of haircuts I want, and she just magically does things perfectly. I'm at the point where I just tell her to do what she thinks is best, and she has never steered me wrong. Not to mention, she is just a very cool and nice human being, so the vibes while she works her magic are immaculate. So, yeah, Carly is just literally the best hair stylist I have ever had, and I 10/10 recommend her. What really stood out was how well she listened and how completely she met me exactly where I am. There was no pressure to do more than I was comfortable with and no attempt to sell me products or treatments. She just took the time to understand what I wanted, where I am in my journey, and how I want my hair to evolve at my own pace. It became clear to me pretty quickly that I'd found more than someone to give me a great haircut. I'd found someone I could trust to help guide me through this part of my journey. And I am so happy with the result. Alyssa is warm, understanding, incredibly talented and really good at what she does. From the moment I walked in, the whole experience felt very personalized and almost concierge like. The salon itself is so cute, and I loved that they use Kerastase products because those are some of my favorites. Jasmine did an amazing job on my haircut. She gave me beautiful layers, brought my hair back to life, and really took her time making sure everything looked right. Jasmine was confident and knowledgeable while still being incredibly kind and humble. She talked me through everything she was doing, answered my questions, and made me feel completely comfortable in her chair. I've had some not so great hair experiences in the past, so having a stylist who actually listened to me and made me feel comfortable meant a lot. I've actually tried multiple times to get back into Jasmine's chair since then. Whenever I've been back in San Diego temporarily, I've wanted to book something like a toner, brunette balayage, or just something subtle to add dimension to my naturally dark hair. I've consulted with her several times over the phone and through text about what I could do, but unfortunately our schedules just haven't lined up. Since I don't live in San Diego anymore and am usually only there for a few days at a time for work, scheduling a longer hair appointment can be really difficult. Through all of that, Jasmine has been SO patient and understanding with me. I've gone back and forth with her about appointments and ideas more than once without actually being able to make the timing work, and she has never made me feel bad or like I was wasting her time. Some stylists can get frustrated when you're asking questions or can't immediately commit to an appointment, but Jasmine has always remained kind, helpful, and understanding of the fact that I'm constantly going back and forth between San Jose and San Diego. I really appreciate that about her. I genuinely hope I can make the timing work soon because I would absolutely trust her with my hair again, especially for color. I would love to eventually have her do a brunette balayage or highlights and add some dimension while still keeping my hair healthy. If you're looking for someone in San Diego who is talented, knowledgeable, patient, kind, and actually cares about the health of your hair, I definitely recommend Jasmine. I must say that after 4 years of consistently amazing results with my beautiful blonde highlights, Melinda truly lives up to her reputation. She takes her time to listen to my requests and makes suggestions based on what she thinks would work best to achieve those results. Her dedication to her art shows through how meticulous and thorough she is with her coloring techniques and cut. I always get compliments on how bright and beautiful my blonde hair is, and how natural it looks.
