There's a room downstairs for private fittings, where (once you've made your appointment) you can try on dresses to your heart's content! The service is fantastic and the staff really professional and patient. If you tell them you have to stick to a budget they will try to accommodate you. The range of dress styles is amazing too. If like me, the blancmange doesn't do it for you, there are plenty of really classy, simple dresses in there - everything from fishtail to column dresses - you name it! Ironically I ended up buying the second dress I ever tried on - after then trying on endless other bridal dresses! The service is fantastic - there's no hard sell or any of that rather intimidating aura you sometimes get in these kinds of stores. I've recommended this shop to several of my friends.

It's filled with bland typical high street businesses like mobile phone companies' stores, HMV, Starbucks, Tophshop, etc. On the bright side there is also Hugo Boss here. An attempt to develop the upmarket retailing is also evident in a number of high end watch and jewelry boutiques. Overall though, with all the foreign tourists, students and the general reputation of Cambridge for being an attractive town, its premier modern department store could be somewhat more interesting.

This store is right off the market square, so it's very convenient if you're in the centre of town. It does feel rather cramped, especially on busy weekends. (And was most annoyed when I saw them on sale a few weeks later for almost half the price!) After climbing up a spiral staircase at the back of the store, you'll find shoes, bags and various accessories, as well as a very grandiose dressing room with long mirrors and seats. This store sells a massive range of women's and men's fashions. The bottom floor does all sorts of women's fashions, from going out gear to office wear, while upstairs, you can find lots of menswear as well as more casual women's fashions, hoodies, etc. There's always a rainbow of colours to choose from and it's much cheaper than other high street chains like Top Shop and Miss Selfridge. I recently got a gorgeous mohair jumper from here and a fab cynching belt and it was at a fraction of what I'd pay in any other Cambridge fashion chain. There are always lots of accessories on sale at this store too - anything from cheap jewellery to hats, scarves, hair bands belts, sunglasses and funky fishnet tights in different colours and patterns.

Go there for that understated pair of leather gloves that will last you years, or document wallets that won't show their age. The owners know their stock very well, and are usually very good advice. Good for anything leather, really: bags, gloves, purses, cases, etc. Nice choice of travel accessories, too, and I think they also do repairs. No real parking, it's in the pedestrian city center, but close to any bus/parking lot you can think of.
