Whittlesey Centre

Whittlesey is a typical market town that has a market once a week in the centre. The Buttercross is…read morewell known in the town and surrounding villages and is the hub of the Town. There are many shops on the outside and also banks so you can get many of your chores completed in one go. Buses also run from the City Centre to the surrounding villages and to Peterborough which means that Whittlesey is a very accessible town. Whittlesey people are generally very friendly around the area and many of the shops are owned and run by local, family-based people.

The whittlesey centre has a wide choice of shops and a market place that has a small market which…read moreis held on a friday morning, it is usually used as the main bus stops, just outside the george hotel. Whittlesey centre has 3 charity shops the first sue ryder, then salvation army and the rspca which are good shops for a bargain, Then there are a few cafe's in the centre, somerfield is the main supermarket, costcutters where there is a post office inside, alice fuit and veg for all your local produce, butchers store, old fashioned sweet shops, two taxi firms, two chemists, £1 shop, bike store, library, ostlers, fish and chip shop, two florists etc etc. I think people in peterborough are under the impression that whittlesey is a boring place to be, but in actual fact there is more to whittlesey centre than just whittlesey sunday market which is what a lot of people actually visit the town for.Whittlesey has always got something on whether it be the straw bear festival or the fair, and whittlesey is a truly lovely place at christmas the local people put a lot into making sure it is a special time and santa pops up for the christmas fair my daughter loves it, the centre really does have a lot of lovely shops and I very rarely have to venture too far to get what I need. The only down side for me is somerfield, as I wish there was a better supermarket to be able to go to I tend to have to go to asda in peterborough to do a proper food shop, but everything else in whittlesy is good. If you get the chance it is worth a look.
