My friends and I went to Patterson Park for steak night and trivia and the steaks were provided by Culinary Designs by MER. They specialize in catering and they operate a food truck. Check their social media for locations because they do participate in steak nights around town.
Culinary Designs was a little different from the typical bar steak night in that they offered a few options: steak (6 oz. filet, 12 or 14 oz. ribeye), salmon, and shrimp brochette. What was also different is that the sides are a la carte. They had loaded mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, and wild rice. I was there for steak, but I have to admit, the salmon looked amazing!
I ordered the 6 oz. filet prepared medium. I think I had to wait about 15-20 minutes which wasn't too bad as there was a steady stream of customers ordering.
The filet was so good and tender! I had no problem cutting it with a plastic knife. The loaded mashed potatoes that I ordered with it were really good, but I was a little disappointed that everything was a la carte. It ended up being pricey for a steak with one side. The portion was adequate and the meal was very flavorful! It's hard to believe that the food was from a food truck.
Because of the food truck set up, patrons were given pagers after ordering. Normally this would be fine, but it was trivia night. Pagers were constantly going off and I know for me, I didn't want to miss a round so I felt rushed trying to pick up my food and hurry back to the table. It all worked out, but it would have been better if someone could have brought the food to each patron. read more
