My daughter has been at Cuizon for about 9 months. IMHO it is the best ballet school in the area. The level of training is EXCEPTIONAL! Lisa (owner and instructor) is passionate, encouraging, and incredibly knowledgeable - you can feel and see that she is invested wholeheartedly in the success of her students. The lineup of other instructors at the studio is wonderful too. My daughter has literally grown "leaps and bounds" here. Lisa is a great teacher. She emphasizes the fundamentals, the PROCESS of dance. She schedules 1 performance every 2 years, as she seeks to share her knowledge with dancers who love the PROCESS of learning. This is a magical studio. A place I look forward to the 'highlight of my week' I love the music, the commitment of her dancers, and a peaceful view of the 101 traffic. As in most youth sports, sometimes a child decides they don' t like the sport. Don't force them! Finish up the season/ month/ etc. And try something new! Lisa Cuizon is not only an amazing teacher, but an amazing human. She truly cares about each of her students, and has a gift for bringing out the best in each student (not her favorite students, but all students). Lisa improved my technique in a way that no other teacher has done. She is a Balanchine trained dancer who is able to communicate her knowledge in a way that I can understand and incorporate into my dancing. I have seen her younger students (young teens) come from other studios and improve their technique immensely with Lisa's instruction. Lisa has been a critical aspect to my dance career and a wonderful mentor in my life. I danced with Lisa as a child before this studio ever opened. I trained with her for years after. She is an experienced ballerina and instructor in the Balanchine technique. She provides detailed corrections and will prepare you for a career in ballet if you choose. She provides the experience and instruction you would need to make it in the ballet world. Additionally, at CBC she brings in other amazing instructors who provide invaluable instruction. To this day, I still dance with Lisa and take adult ballet. Cuizon Ballet Centre has greatly changed my life from the moment I walked in. I have been training with Lisa for almost four years now and cannot put into words how much she has done for me. I have been doing ballet since I was two years old and have been to just about every studio in LA. It wasn't until I found Cuizon that I was truly able to take my ballet training to the next level. Before Cuizon, I had received little attention at other schools and always felt like a little fish in a big sea. I struggled with confidence in my dancing as I felt I wasn't really improving without any personalized attention. I still remember walking into Cuizon for the first time and being absolutely blown away with the way the girls could dance. It was obvious that every girl in the room had been trained in such a personalized, effective, and professional manner. I remember dreaming that one day I could dance the way they could and thinking this dream would never become a reality. Four years later, I could not be happier with the way my dancing has evolved and flourished. Not only was my body in bad shape, bad back, bad knees and horrid ankles but it took me years to get over the mental effect she had on me. I didn't trust another female dance teacher until I was 18. Even now, (at 20) I have trouble with it. I started dancing with her because I was serious about it and really wanted to move forward. She brainwashed my mother into thinking her training was the only good training in the area. All I got out of it was being convinced I was lazy, inefficient, and a horrible student. She continually got frustrated with me and often I would make up excuses NOT to go to class. After years of working several hours a day 6 days a week and being homeschooled so I could take private lessons I had yet to really improve. At 15 I was struggling with double pirrouetts. Although my body has healed with some major chiropractic work, I still struggle with thoughts of being lazy and not good enough. This isn't an inspiring atmosphere. It's a torture chamber. Save yourself, and for goodness sake save your teenage daughters. High school is tough enough without Lisa on your back too. read more

She has immense compassion and love for teaching her students and really conducts a positive working and learning environment for all students. My daughter studied dance at popular local studios, but found herself needing a stronger ballet technique in order to improve in all the styles of dance. Lisa, the owner taught her more than ballet - she's way so in tune with her body overall. Lisa has a lot to offer if you are willing to put in the work. There's a lot of girls out there who get lost in the shuffle and realize they need to be have a solid dance foundation too late. My daughter was in classes with dancers of various ages and did not have the goal of having a career in ballet. She was able to learn in a comfortable and positive environment and apply her knowledge to all types of dance. The classes weren't geared towards the end of year performances/recitals. It was because we saw such an extraordinary transformation, through video posts on instagram, of our good friend's daughter's progression at Cuizon, that we decided to give it a try. And now our entire family, but mostly, the dancer in our family, is beyond grateful to Lisa Cuizon and her husband Scott for the 2 years she's had of their thoughtful, rigorous, professional, and compassionate approach to training. We have belonged to 3 ballet studios in the area, and Cuizon is our true home. Lisa focuses on the fundamentals. The skills our daughter is gaining: creative, physical, artistic ... are wonderful to behold. But. It is important to note that they extend far beyond the studio. To give you one of many examples, when struggling with school last year, I asked my daughter: how will you handle the workload you have next semester? And she replied: "Simple. Lisa taught me what to do. She taught me how to focus my mind. It happened in class last week. I can focus my mind on a single point in my body, and when I'm focused I have complete control. That's what I need to do to improve my grades." When I first called Cuizon to set up a trial class, Lisa warned me that she demands a lot of her students. Lisa's studio is not conducive to socializing, and therefore there is no drama. I really appreciated that, and my daughter does too. The students are there to work hard and learn. It's not about glitter and glitz. It's a 'real' ballet / modern dance school, and if your son or daughter is willing to be trained and to take on creative input, the dividends will pay off for a lifetime. We feel so happy to have found this rare Ventura County resource. No wonder so many of Lisa's students are able to leave our small town and swim with the big fish in the world of dance.
