Don't spend your money here. Go for the view but not the food. I found worms in my food and drink and told the person on charge they didn't care and still charged me for it all. I feel sick. I couldn't take any pictures of it all because I felt so sick I needed to puke in the bathrooms. Again do not give them your business. Not worth it. The view is nice but do not eat here!

I would recommend a minimum of 2 hours in this town to enjoy all that is has to offer. I would visit this town with a rental car, a small tour company or a hired driver. I would not do the "free" tour offered by the Palace resorts that is used with resort credits as we got very little time in this city we got instead bused to a "Mayan Village" that was a tourist trap and a waste of time. We looked a painting that was on a tapestry that was $24.00USD no haggling. Inside the city we got the same one for $3.50USD. We only got 35 minutes to explore the town we came to see and 15 minutes to see the convent. Again, do not do the tour Valliodad until the take off the "Mayan Village stop" it is a complete waste of time and extended our day by 2 hours of waste. Valliodad is A small town that centers around a bustling city square On one side, there is a church that was built with rocks and stones from the ruins of a A Mayan Village. The Spaniards used the building materials to build this church. You can see these stones through out many of the cities buildings. The other side has vendors with traditional Mexican goods like pottery. paintings, T-shirts, and curios. One side has restaurants with open patio seating with a 10 year old boy belting out cantadas. All of these restaurants look like yummy Yucatan cuisine. Above the tourist information top is 4 murals that really describes the cities history. Check out one corner with the Chocolate shop with some of the best chocolate I have tasted in my life. Be prepared it is not cheap but it is what you would normally pay for high priced quality chocolate. You can taste it and it has a video all about the chocolate process from the Cacao bean. Down the way is a convent from 1543 that has a beautiful courtyard and is 3 stories that you can venture around and image what the days were like for these early nuns. In the same area is instagram worthy lettering spelling out Valliodad.

There is a small plaza with a church in the middle of it with street vendors selling beautiful artesanal pieces (in case you want to bring some home).

Many tour buses are parked here. In 15 minutes we didn't get much time but the park is good. There are many benches to sit. The two-person seats are very interesting - very much photo-worthy. We got some locally made chips from a vendor which was good - quality and quantity - for 15 pesos. The shops around are good to purchase gifts and souvenirs. I suppose they'd bargain too if you can. Other than that, there are many restaurants, eateries, and hotels around to roam. The park is heavily patrolled for some reason as we saw heavy police deployment with automatic weapons even on a seemingly regular day. Overall, very much recommended.

The square itself is just a park with some benches and water fountains and statues. There are also some street performers and women selling souvenirs spread throughout the square. This is overall a good location to have a quick glimpse of the city with the famous San Servacio church located adjacent to the square. There are lots of restaurants and stores that line all sides of the square as well.

Just browse around and see what types of foods you're interested in. The downsides are that tables are first-come, first-serve. Meaning if you can't find a table after ordering your food, you're eating standing up. Lastly, you have to pay to use the bathroom. There is a gate that blocks the entrance to the bathrooms and you have to pay to enter.

It's like a food court with markets or it's like a market with a food court. Either way, El Bazar Municipal features covered communal seating with cheap food and cheaper restrooms. I got a soft drink (because of the intense heat) from a small store while she hit the loo. Then we did a little window shopping. Vendors offer a variety of local products like embroidered clothes, dresses, and blouses, plus ornaments, jewelry, and accessories. Ice cream, candy and sodas are available quick refreshers, but, more importantly, El Bazar Municipal is the kind of place you'll find flavorful local dishes such as Lomitos de Valladolid (Pork Loin in Tomato Sauce), Longaniza (Smoked Pork Sausage), and Polle en Escabeche (Chicken Escabeche like ceviche). Breakfast is cheap while lunch and dinner have a broader mix of cuisine including some offering comida corrida. If you are staying in Valladolid, Yucatán, Mexico, consider stopping in the centrally-located El Bazar Municipal to grab a quick snack, down a refreshing cold drink, experience local cuisine, view a wide-range of products from vendors, escape the sun, or simply use the restroom for a small fee.
