Our first Cenote. We were just driving to Chemax from Xcan and came a cross a yellow sign with "Cenote" and an arrow scrawled on it on the side of the road. We thought we should check it out and we are so glad we did. It is a very nice cave with lots of stalactites and stalagmites. The water is not too cold, pretty clear and we saw a few bats in there. The owners rent lifejackets, snorkel gear and a canoe. I think they all cost 20 pesos. Entrance fee was 100 pesos for the adults and kids were free. I'm not sure if the fees are set in stone. There is a typical Mayan bathroom there that you flush with nearby buckets of water. The showers did not have a curtain when I was there so everybody was changing in the WC, of which there are only two. It was our family's favorite experience to this point. read more
