I can't say enough good things about Rancho Grande Subaru. This week I got new tires and an oil change. From the parts department (love my tires Mark!) to the serviceman behind the computers, to the guys doing the labor, my experience was seamless and timely. I've been coming to Rancho Grande since I bought my 2021 Outback. My experiences have always been positive. It doesn't look easy, but they do it well. I appreciate the team at Rancho Grande and would recommend going there for your Subaru needs. read more

Customer service is horrible. The Service Desk closes during lunch making it difficult to pick up your vehicle between 12-1pm. Many customers have a limited opportunity to leave their own employment to pick up their vehicle being worked on. Having no Service Administrator available and working to pick up your vehicle during an important part of the day demonstrates a lack of customer service obligation. read more

I bought a 2023 Outback Touring XT, Had the pleasure of working with Rico. He showed me one while I was waiting on my outback to be serviced. I liked all the cameras. He went over all settings in detail with me. Like learning a new phone, cool new options. The turbo is what I wanted, drives really smooth! Really like the down shifting, save the brakes,. I enjoy car camping, road trips. I order the color I wanted. Did a trade in, got a great deal!!!!! Thank you Rico!!! Bon Bon read more

Cuesta GMC - Touring 2023 Outback XT - Car Dealers Near Me - San Luis Obispo, California

Have a dead near brand new GMC truck that needs to be towed to the service department. They told me I have to tow it there and pay for it myself - didn't even notify me I can call GMC roadside assistance. Then they proceed to tell me I need an appointment. Wait, I have a dead truck on the side of the road and I need to make an appointment to drop it off. Terrible service and quite frankly unacceptable. They will never get my service. read more

Since moving up to Morro Bay from Hermosa Beach 3+ years ago with a newly purchased CPO Subaru Outback, I needed a local dealer I could rely on for the required six month maintenance services. My first service appointment was in December on Friday the 13th...as luck would have it. Happy to say no problems at all - easy to schedule - and the Express Service is nothing short of amazing. In and out and on my way back to Morro Bay. Anthony, my Express Service Adviser was knowledgeable & turned things around with a cordial demeanor. Going back soon for my next service appointment. read more

A Comedic Journey with Subaru of San Luis Obispo - Slow Cars, Slower Communication! Buckle up, folks, because my experience at Subaru of San Luis Obispo was like taking a scenic route through a time warp! If you're a fan of suspense and uncertainty, this is the dealership for you. Get ready for a wild ride filled with slow cars, even slower communication, and the constant need to channel your inner detective. Let's start with the speed of service. Ever heard of a snail with a flat tire? Well, that's how my car seemed to move through their shop. It felt like my little Subaru was participating in a marathon where turtles were the frontrunners. I'm not sure if they had a secret pit stop for napping mechanics, but my car seemed to make itself right at home in their garage for an eternity. Now, let's talk about communication--or the lack thereof. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be in a one-sided conversation with a brick wall, just call Subaru of San Luis Obispo! They've mastered the art of keeping you in suspense by providing minimal updates and leaving you to wonder if your car has taken a secret vacation. It's like playing a game of telephone with yourself, where you're both the sender and the receiver. But don't worry, fellow adventurers! I've got some survival tips for navigating this dealership's mysterious communication labyrinth: Develop psychic abilities. Since they won't call you, you'll need to use your telepathic powers to extract updates from their minds. Create a calling schedule. Be prepared to dial their number every hour on the hour, just to remind them that your car still exists. Make friends with the receptionist. They might have some insider information on the whereabouts of your vehicle, or at least they can offer moral support during this puzzling journey. In all seriousness, Subaru of San Luis Obispo, I'm sure you have your reasons for the delays and the communication hiccups. But it wouldn't hurt to sprinkle in a little humor and transparency along the way. Keeping your customers informed and engaged can go a long way in soothing the nerves of those anxiously waiting for their beloved Subarus. In conclusion, Subaru of San Luis Obispo is an automotive adventure that will test your patience and detective skills. If you enjoy a slow-paced storyline with a dash of mystery, this dealership might just be your cup of motor oil. Embrace the uncertainty, perfect your waiting room banter, and remember that humor is the key to surviving the rollercoaster ride of car repairs. And hey, Subaru of San Luis Obispo, remember that a little communication goes a long way in making your customers feel valued. We might not have turbocharged patience, but we can certainly appreciate a good laugh while we wait for our trusty Subarus to hit the road again! Vroom vroom (eventually)! read more

Rancho Grande GMC/Subaru used to be great in the service department however since covid they quit washing cars after service and now they say they can't find anyone to do it. My last trip to get my GMC 1500 AT4 done (30k service) didn't tell me it was over $600 + my right wiper 1/2 was gone and they didn't even look at it. Disappointing how the service here has gone downhill so badly. read more

I am in my seventies, and recently drove into a lamp post, damaging my car. (Hey, I still passed my most recent drivers test!) I payed over $1,000 for 60,000 mile service, and they didn't even bother to wash the car. It took almost an hour to check out, but at least the seats in the waiting room were comfortable on my back. I don't recommend. read more

I had an amazing experience dealing with Joe Ortega at Rancho Grande Motors. He answered all of my texts and emails about the subaru I ordered through them. When every single dealer in my region of Monterey/Santa Cruz was literally 5-7k over MSRP, it was a breath of fresh air hearing Joe tell me that they happily sell AT MSRP. The entire process was done either via email, text or phone calls and was one of the smoothest to date for me. We made a day of driving down, casually cruising PCH down stopping for lunch and then seeing the elephant seals before we hit the dealership in SLO. Everyone I talked to there was super friendly and they treated us like family. They get it. You treat people right and don't pressure them or overcharge and they will keep coming back again and again. I will happily drive the 5 hour round trip again to do business with them when the time comes. Meantime, anyone that asks me about my sweet ride, I tell them the story of how well I was treated and what an amazing experience I had dealing with Joe. Joe literally was just promoted to finance the day we picked up our car, but the good news is you'll ve able to meet the legend at the end of your deal. Don't waste hours upon hours of time like I did dealing with these other sub par dealerships and just call Rancho Grande Motors and get the best deal with the best service from the start. I literally can't say enough positive things about them. Joe, if you're reading this, please take me up on the offer if you ever get up this way. We'll treat you like family and do whatever we can do to make your stay a pleasant one. I really appreciate all of your hard work and attention to detail.  Keep up the good work like the rock star that you are. And thank you to the owners of Rancho Grande Motors for treating your clients and employees so well. It's very clear that people like working there and it shows in thier work ethic. read more

I was hunkered down on Tuesday in the waiting room while my fabulous 2018 Subaru Forester was serviced. An employee walked by and commented on how comfy I looked. I replied that all I lacked was an ottoman. So he brought me one! I also want to say that Steve Sharps, Service Advisor, is always unfailingly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Not a bad day at all. read more

We have bought two cars at Rancho Grande Motors with the help of Clay, our AWESOME the sales person. I mean heck, he was so good the first time we came back!! Their service department is also really helpful and the service advisors are very positive, informative and just pleasant. If you have a dog, they have lots of dog bones for your pup while waiting. We highly recommend Rancho Grande Motors for your next Subaru. read more

We just bought a truck from here and Randy was a great salesman! He made the process super easy and fast!

Took my car there for a Recall, everything went great! Finished in less time than estimated, and even washed the car. Very happy.

Just had the worst customer service and had nothing done. I recently had to have my Subaru serviced at my trusted mechanic to the tune of $5000 because of oil leaks everywhere. Turns out the head gasket was blown and some idiot put Stop Leak in it. My mechanic said there was oil in the coolant and coolant in the oil. Now we've only taken it to Jiffy Lube and Rancho Grande before. So either Rancho Grande put the Stop Leak in it or Jiffy Lube did. I would be surprised if Jiffy Lube even had Stop Leak but even more surprised if Rancho Grande put it in the engine. Now, not so much. Even if Jiffy Lube put the Stop Leak in, how did Rancho Grande not tell me about it? Either they didn't notice it (incompetence) or they hid it from me (dishonest). So my mechanic replaced all the seals, fluids, and valves; checked everything, cleaned everything, even checked the codes from the computer and made sure everything was correct but because the car is new(ish) he doesn't have the correct software to deal with the computer. So all I need to do is get the Subaru dealer to "flash the computer" to clear the codes and let it reset. That brings us to today. Made an appointment after my mechanic called up and spoke to Steve in service about what I needed done. Arrived and arrogant Steve can't be bothered to speak to us and we try to work with a brand new guy. Even though Steve is within earshot and ignoring us, the new guy has to consult with Steve as we try to get our work done. When my wife asks about our mechanic calling to fill him in he says condescendingly, "I talk to lots of people every day, I can't remember everything." Obviously he can't make notes regarding people's $50,000 investment problems either. If only there was some way to write down and pass along information. So Steve says we will have to get a diagnostic because "it could be the crankshaft". It doesn't matter what it is, Steve, I'm not going to have you fix it. So the first estimate has a $300 charge for the diagnostic on it and my wife says, "we're not doing that." After that they still wanted to charge $300 just to "flash and update the computer". We are totally fed up at this point, tell them forget it, give me my keys and not having anything done here. Then they try and make us sign something saying we declined recommended service. How did you recommend something without even touching the car? Absolutely done with this place. Now I need to find somewhere else that can do the computer work so we can get rid of this piece of junk. read more

I brought my car in because I'd just had new brakes and rotors put on, and they were squeaking. Some jerk named Steve told me I needed to get my rotors resurfaced .... for 400 bucks. First of all I want to say I had a fantastic experience with everybody that I met at the dealership they welcomed me like I was family almost like they knew me lol. Eric Casarez, Sergio, Heath Sheppard went above and beyond the call of duty making the deal so easy over the phone delivering the car to our house explaining the paperwork from the beginning to the end we love our Subaru .I have since use their service department what a beautiful facility they explain everything thoroughly for you they really made me feel like I'm part of the super cool club thank you Rancho grande motors we will be back that's for sure read more

They sold my fiancee a car that they didn't have the title too. Was still leased and titled to someone else. They also misinformed us that the car was new but then at signing stated being sold as used. Pretty shady. It's caused a big mess with financing and my attorney is advising litigation. Avoid them. The car is great though, really like the Subaru brand and that's coming from a Mercedes. read more

John at Rancho Grande Subaru in the service department provided such amazing customer service, even going as far as providing complimentary service when he saw I was a bit confused with my service plan that had expired. He did not have to do that at all, but it meant so much to me! read more

YIKES... I love Subaru cars but the dealers are less to be desired. If the service agent says 30 minutes to replace a light bulb then It should take 30 minutes. My light bulb.. two hours later! My daughter bought a used car last year. To convince her to be independent I sent her there alone and told her to talk to the salesman. The salesman she talked to was Nilton Silveira. I genuinely appreciated how well he treated her. It's been a year and the car is still running great. Good people, good products. Thanks! read more

We recently bought a new Ascent from this dealership. We worked with salesperson Terry Windburn. He made the experience about as painless as buying a new car can be! He was honest, low pressure and very knowledgeable. We drove the car twice, worked a deal and were done. No running back and forth to closers, managers etc. the finance manager wasn't high pressure either. What? Love the car by the way. We haven't had any service yet,but we're happy to find that the new service manager was previously at Santa Maria Toyota, and they were excellent. Hopefully this will be the same. We moved to the Central Coast from Los Angeles about three years ago. It is amazing that even buying a car is a relaxing experience. Sweet. read more

These guys are pretty rude. They are the only Subaru dealer in the area, and they know that is to their advantage. I have test drove vehicles there a few times and they were not really knowledgeable about their models and trims. Both times they we almost hostile once they knew I was just test driving and couldn't get an immediate sale. read more

I had a great experience with the Subaru dealership for a new car. Terry was our salesmen and he had great communication and was very approachable and nice. He stayed in touch with me on his days off to confirm when my car would be available for pick-up, and made sure I got the exact car I wanted. I would highly recommend their customer service. read more

Took my 07 WRX for a head gasket issue. Spend over $6,000. Had it for another week and the motor needed to be replaced. The dealership wouldn't replace it! Wanted another $5,000!!! I went to the BAR and then all of a sudden they wanted to replace the small block at no cost to me. They had my car for months. I barely was updated and every time I reached out no one was available and I rarely got a call back. Travis Y is the worst customer service "professional" I have ever met. He was rude and kept telling me they were not at fault even after replacing my motor at no cost to me! The only reasonable person was Cory V, the service manager. After 1 day with the new motor smoke was barreling from my hood scoop. Probably a coolant leak. I will NEVER return to Rancho Grande for anything if I can help it! Avoid this place like the plague!! Update: Went to another shop. Both radiator hoses were leaking coolant... read more

brian, dale, and all the guys in parts do an excellent job. 5 stars !!

Since buying our car, we have come back for the free oil changes that they offered. It has been a horrible experience on both occasions. The first time, I was waiting in the waiting room with my son and they failed to tell me that my car was done. So I sat there unnecessarily for over an hour while my car sat there completed. The next time, they went over their quoted time of 1.5 hour by 30 minutes. We had to keep asking when it was done. We made an appointment too - which is ridiculous. An oil change should not take more then 30 minutes to complete. What's the point of making an appointment? After the free oil change are done, I won't be back. read more

I brought my 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 to Rancho Grande Motors for passenger door handle repair...they charged me $199.99 for diagnosis, which involved most of the repair work to diagnosis by opening the door panel, then proceeded to charge me for the full amount of repair, and the diagnosis fee as well...the only extra cost to repair, was adding the parts to the disassembled door, that did not incur extra work, at all. This is a typical scam that this company uses to increase repair costs in their favor...it is a "double charge" that is unnecessary and unethical for a dealership's service department, and is a major reason why people don't go to dealerships for repair. Don't use Rancho Grande Motors for repair of your Buick, Cadillac, GMC or Subaru cars, unless you want to be "double charged". read more

Scratched my Forester while it was in for an oil change. I'm so disappointed and sick that they did this - it was the first car I've ever gotten that was brand new, it was one year old and this is just the last place that should happen. I've leased a Subaru for my son and had to do it out of town, because we couldn't get the local dealership (this one) to work a decent deal. Now a year later I walk in to try to buy myself a car. They quoted me a number that would put me in a Range Rover or back into my $90,000 Audi I drive now! I talked to the finance manger and it was clear this was an intentional move. Not a single other customer in the dealership and they don't want to work a reasonable / ethical deal.... Not sure how they stay in business. My son has bad vibes last year, which I dismissed. He was right. Stay away. read more

I bought my 2010 Outback and was very disappointed at this dealership. On 8-31-20 I decided to look at new Outback's, Kevin Roberts was the sales manger of trade ups and approached me in the lot. I let him know I was just curious and had a unpleasant experience on my last visit in 2010. Kevin could not have been more accommodating, he was very pleasant, informative and not pushy. After a test drive and looking at the numbers, he did everything to put together a great deal for me. The finance and insurance person, Peter, was very nice as was all the other personnel. I also had my older Subaru serviced earlier and had a great experience. So 2 thumbs up for this dealership. Thanks Kevin and everyone! Deborah H. read more

I scheduled an appointment to see a used car that was about $ 9k (as the website said). So I got there and the guy (Terry) told me it wasn't ready yet. He said he'd call me as soon as it was. So I lost my afternoon. The next day I visited their website again and the car was 12K with a "-1K" offer. Terry didn't bother to call me, and it seemed somebody else bought the car 2 days later. I know it's your business and you can put any price tag, but I think it's unprofessional to just change a car price just like that (1), and not even bother to call (2). read more

Purchased my second Subaru and love the brand. I would recommend a Subaru to anyone that wanted to listen. Would I purchase it from Rancho Grande Motors. Absolutely not! I am having multiple difficulties with my transaction. They charged me the incorrect sales rate. (This is they only issue that has been corrected) They held onto my trade-in long enough for a payment to come due. Phone calls did not help, I had to drive into SLO to get this resolved. While they were dragging their feet additional interest was accrued. This left a balance on my loan which I had to pay to close the account. I did request that I be reimbursed. This request has not been addressed. I am left to assume that it is being ignored. They gave out an incorrect mailing address to five other entities. The top three being a credit union that I have had an account with for over 30 years, DMV (we all know how long this one is going to take to correct) and SirusXM which is more interested leaving me on hold and in selling me product than correcting my mailing address. Now I have received mail from DMV (still at the incorrect address) with a new vehicle registration card for the vehicle that I signed over and I am still listed as the registered owner. Back to SLO and Rancho Grande Motors where I had the unpleasant experience of speaking with someone who either assumed that my command of the English language is lacking or that I did not possess the intelligence to understand what he was saying. He continued to repeat the same sentence over and over. I guess he could not accept that I simply did not agree with him. I will give credit to a second employee that attempted to have an adult conversation, unfortunately he was promptly interrupted by the first employee who stated "Don't talk to her she is not listening." I am left with this, Rancho Grande Motors is very invested in the sale. After that the customer can go to hell. When the time comes to replace my current Subaru (far in the future) I will drive as many miles as necessary to find a different dealer. Robin - Morro Bay, CA read more

I couldn't go to my normal Subaru dealership, since I would have to drive four hours away. I paid to get my oil changed as well as a new back windshield wiper, and I paid double what I would pay back at home. My car was returned not washed and with a windshield wiper that worked worse than the one prior. I will never go here again. The employees are great, but the service was more than disappointing, especially being a Subaru owner and expecting quality from a place who sells and services them. read more

After my initial bad experience, I decided to go back the following day to "look around" and we were greeted by Randy (who gave me his card the first time I stopped in but was busy with another customer) This time he was free was very accommodating and knowledgeable regarding Subaru vehicles. We asked a lot of questions and they we all answered honestly and with patience. After all was said and done, with a test drive as well, we went in looking for a Crosstrek and drove away with an Outback. Definitely recommend working with Randy if you decide to go in. Thanks for the great Subaru experience! read more

I have had all of my service done here, this was the first time I have had to pre-pay for parts. Also, I had to come back three times to get the same repair done. I spent $1500 on this repair and they REFUSED to give me a courtesy ride home! So much for customer service...... read more

I was on the hunt for a 2012 WRX about two weeks ago. I live on the Peninsula and called around and even test drove at a local dealership. Let's just say that there weren't many WRXs to choose from and the one dealership that had any were marking up the price at $4995 over MSRP. Sorry, but no one I know pays sticker, much less additional, for a new car. So I broadened my search to dealerships that were further away. I got in contact with Sergio at Rancho Grande Subaru and after one email we had a deal. Talk about a breath of fresh air and a hell of a savings. I gladly took the three hour drive to his dealership to save money and hang out in SLO for the weekend in my new car. The dealership was so easy to deal with and the process couldn't have been quicker. I never felt pressured to buy any extras or felt like I was getting taken for a ride. These guys are good at what they do and aren't trying to take advantage of buyers...they simply want to sell a good product at a good price (imagine that!). If you are in the market for a Subaru, give Sergio a try at Rancho Grande and you'll see why I didn't buy local and took the drive. read more

I had high hopes for Subaru and thought highly of them for a while but my experiences have left me with a dirt taste in my mouth. I feel like they act like your best friend while shopping for products. They act like they are interested in your best interest but they do not advocate for you or seem to make right inconsistent defects with their vehicles. My 17 forester back doors are slamming shut with minimal wind or slight hill snd it actually smashed my daughters finger trying to get her down from car seat. No I'm very careful always with the doors more so than any other doors I've had no to prevent another accident. My exhaust manifold actually cracked and was leaking during a routine inspection Subaru would not warranty part since it didn't trigger a cel code. So 1,000 dollars later it idles normally and has no exhaust leak. Now I was called for a recal on the a/c compressor which has been operating normal but they will check anyway. I have a 18 wrx and my ac compressor stoped working 2.5 years after buying new like 36000 miles. I asked for help there's a 3 year 36,000 warranty due being 500 miles over my covers Age they said they can't confirm or deny if they can cover it but for 180$they can diagnose it, look at it and tell me if warranty can cover rest. Or I need to pay the rest. I'm so disappointed with dealing with rancho grande motors. I bought both my of my vehicles here and I really wanted to think I found a honest dealer read more
