These guys are great! My son LOVES to ride the train. Every time we go to the mall he begs us to ride it. I think its $5 for kids and the adults are a little more, but sometimes they run specials where the parents ride free before a certain time. The cars are big enough to fit me, my husband, and the little one inside comfortably. But what makes it awesome is the people. Theres a guy that has been there since they first opened who clearly loves his job or at least takes a lot of pride in it, and is super awesome with kids. He gets them to engage and laugh and make the experience that much better. And he rocks really cool kicks with the Toy Story aliens on them. The little train has some good pull and an even better turning radius. It's pretty surprising actually. Even though the space in the mall that the train runs isn't that long, they make great use of the space and do a lot of fun turns. After the ride, they have recently started giving out lollipops to the kids so that's cool. Even though when all three of us have to pay for the ride it's a little expensive, its still worth it to see the joy in my sons face. I'll definitely be back soon.

Ride is too short for the price you pay. Train station is always moving around so you gotta look hard to find it

Magical Train Ride Adventure!…read more We absolutely loved our experience on the historic Hawaiian Railway -- such a unique and beautiful way to explore Oahu's west side! From start to finish it was pure aloha vibes and family fun! Prices: Standard train ride tickets were around $18 for adults and $13 for kids (ages 2-12) (kids under 2 are free!), and we felt it was worth every penny for the experience and memories! Parking & Arrival: There's plenty of free parking right at the train station, which made arriving super easy and stress-free. We got there a little early to soak in the atmosphere before departure! Hours & Tour Times: The train runs on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays with departures like 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM, plus a couple of other times depending on the day -- perfect for planning your afternoon. Length & Route: The whole ride is about 90 minutes round-trip, slowly chugging through scenic parts of Oahu's Leeward coast with beautiful views of the ocean and mountains. The narration from the guide made the ride even more interesting! Stops & Fun: One of the best parts was the ice cream stop in Ko Olina -- we all hopped off for a cool treat at a little plaza and waved to neighbors along the way! Photo Ops Everywhere: There were so many spots perfect for photos -- seaside views, cute vintage train cars, and open-air seating made for great candid shots! Plus, we barely saw anyone else there during our ride, so it felt like we had the whole adventure to ourselves. Tips: * Arrive early to grab good seats and explore the train yard * Bring a camera (or phone!) -- the scenery is AMAZING * Don't forget a little extra cash for ice cream! Overall: This was one of our favorite experiences on Oahu -- kid-friendly, super scenic, and just plain fun. We're already talking about going back again next time!

It's a slow-paced easy ride with a narration of the area's past history and current status. Once the train entered onto the Ko Olina property the views were beautiful, especially up the sea cost. Passengers on both sides of the railcars switch seats to provide equal viewing opportunities. The seats are hard wood, so bring cushions. Overall a nice diversion and unique way to see the leeward (west) coastline of Oahu. Good for children especially. Staff very hospitable.

Be a pineapple: Stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside…read more Visiting Dole Plantation was honestly a strange mix of fun, beauty, history, and a little bit of emotional whiplash. Which, to be fair, is probably the most historically accurate way to experience a place with the word "plantation" in the name. On one hand, it's genuinely beautiful. The grounds are lush, the air smells incredible, and the pineapple everything is incredibly delicious. The Dole Whip absolutely lived up to the hype, and the gardens, train ride, and giant maze had this cheerful old Hawai'i roadside attraction energy that felt charming instead of overly polished. It was wholesome. I even saw a few adorable cats being fed by the workers. There is also this underlying awareness the entire time where your brain quietly goes, "...wait." Why? Because plantations are not cute historically. The word itself carries a lot of weight tied to colonization, labor exploitation, and the reshaping of Hawai'i for corporate agriculture and tourism. So walking through a place that's simultaneously serving pineapple soft serve while existing within that history creates a peculiar emotional duality that's hard to ignore. Honestly, I appreciated that feeling. Not because the history is good, because it absolutely isn't, but because places should make us think a little. Hawai'i is stunning but it's also layered and complicated and visiting somewhere like this becomes more meaningful when you acknowledge both the beauty and the discomfort instead of pretending one cancels out the other. The experience ended up feeling less like, "Yay pineapples!" and more like a reminder that travel is best when you let yourself enjoy the present while still respecting the history underneath it. Note: I totally destroyed a Dole Whip because personal growth, historical awareness, and pineapple soft serve with fresh pineapple can intertwine, okay?

They seemed super crowded when we were there. The train ride is a must and I recommend booking in advance for the Shaka ticket so you sit in the front car. There is a speaker the narrates your journey but until you are in the front car it's almost impossible to hear what they are saying. The real gem here is the local vendors outside with handcrafted items. So many beautiful and unique things there and great that you support local artists. Then lets not forget dole whip right at that dole plantation. That also is almost mandatory.

Kapolei Village Center is located across Kapolei Lofts and there's no signage that I could see to indicate you're here but you'll know when you're here when you see Foodland. Whenever I try to redeem the discount or a promo, the store treats me like I'm a criminal. Here's a few examples: The Foodland offer: free reusable bag with any $50 or more purchase. I thought this was a great promo, get some grocery shopping done, get a free bag. Win-win. NOT! Some of the workers have no clue about the promo, others say it's only good on the weekends and yet another said the promo expired. Foodland get your act together. I'm spending my money @ your establishment, isn't that a good thing??? (The promo doesn't say weekends only, and the promo is still posted on the KVC site with NO mention of an Expiration Date) L&L offer: 10% of your purchase. When I arrived at the restaurant I showed the cashier the promo ahead of time just in case they weren't gonna honor it, I would eat elsewhere...she looks at it. Asks what is that? Omg really? It's a promo your landlord is offering and you have no idea about it??? She takes my phone and goes to the back kitchen to talk to some guy and asks him about it. The guy says yeah they can accept that. 10% off isn't a real big deal, but I'm helping this establishment by eating there. Smh. So again, the discount program is a joke since the tenants are so resistant to honoring it. I don't understand why? If this brings in the traffic, why not honor it? Instead you make your customers feel like criminals or maybe even worse than that. I grew up shopping @ the Market City Foodland and L&L Hawn BBQ has always been my go-to local plate lunch place so I was elated to see these two tenants here in kapolei, expecting the same great friendly service...boy was I wrong! Kapolei is a growing community, guess I'll be looking elsewhere for my groceries and bbq plate lunches.

Wet and Wild was definitely the highlight of my son's vacation to the island, besides shark diving in the Northshore. There are so many attractions. Huge slides, wave pools. Areas for tots.
