Visited again this Lunch time and found the Service to be vastly improved…read more There was a Friendly Guy at the door who did the meet and greet thing and a Waiter on hand who was watching the floor much of the time. The place was noticably more full today and the atmosphere was far better than my last visit. With all this in mind, I was left feeling far more positive about my Lunch and was glad to have returned. However, my Lunch came in two halves which was not good. My lovely large wedge like potato arrived nearly 10 mins after my wrap. The wrap was not a patch on last time and was not closed as I expect a wrap to be, as last time. The filling was falling out and it was haphazardly cobbled together- oh dear( Although a better experience, I still see room for improvement and have not upped my star rating I am afraid. May give it another go and try an Evening experience next time.

But last time we went the usual guy who greets you and seems to be some sort of manager, wasn't there and the service was much slower. I ordered a steak and was unable to eat about 3/4 of it as it was all gristle. I was asked if i wanted it replacing but by that time I'd really gone off the idea. In fairness they did then ask if I wanted a dessert on the house which I didn't want either so we were given two free coffees. All in all we have had such nice meals there that I won't let this one time put me off and we will be going back as I love the atmosphere, decor and the style of food.

Fiesta Latino - FIESTA LATINO in York (Spanish for 'Mexican Party Man')

Excellent and legitimate Texmex in York! Friendly helpful staff - blazing hot sauce - I highly…read morerecommend the Mexican Sampler of 3 enchiladas beans and rice. Great portion size and authentic flavor throughout. Go before 6pm and get 25% off the whole bill! I would have given it 5 stars but for a few family unfriendly placards on the wall - but why throw out a Rolls Royce for a little scratch?! I recommend Fiesta Latino for Mexican food in the York area: good food better price! I'll be back for sure

As a lover of Mexican food it is always a struggle to find good Mexican in the UK until now…read more We went on a Wednesday night and it was quite busy , I would suggest booking in advance to be certain of getting in. Also they have 25% off the bill between 4pm and 6pm everyday and watch for Tuesday and Sunday as this is student night where they get 50% off. It has a Mexican themed interior with a lively atmosphere spread over two levels. We ordered the Nachos Cowabunga sharer to start ,Nachos fully loaded with chilli beef ,chilli chicken ,cheese ,bacon bits, scallions and soured cream ,it was huge ,could easily do 4 people. For mains we had -Beef Buritto which came with guacamole, cream, black beans and rice and the Mexi Burger ,which was a 9oz burger covered in beef chilli served with curly fries salad and cowslaw. Both were very large portions and we struggled to finish them The food quality, service and lively atmosphere all added to a great experience, check it out.

Starbucks - Venti Iced PSL (2023)

The interior is fairly modern, the window seats have nice views of the shopping centre below, and there's mainly comfortable seating, although I do think the overall size is just not adequate, considering this is the only Starbucks in the city centre that isn't in the train station, so it does get very busy. I ordered a Venti Iced PSL via the mobile app, there was a reasonably long wait for my drinks, and the waiting area felt very cramped, but they were busy. My drink tasted good and was up to a reasonable standard, although it did cost a little more than usual as this is a franchise location, it worked out 40 p more compared to a corporate-owned store, this can add up if you visit a lot and buy multiple drinks. Due to being located inside the shopping centre, they do close fairly early at 7 pm, the only other Starbucks nearby would be located inside the train station, but even then they're only open until 8 pm and don't accept Starbucks cards for payment. 3* - Decent Starbucks, yet very busy. Definitely could do with an extra store in the city centre to take the load of this one, which will likely make the experience better across the board.

You'll find this kebab van just across the street from Christ Church. We popped on over around…read more10ish at night for we wanted something quick and good. There were a couple of guys standing there before us, so we waited. I put my order in for some chicken kebabs and salad loaded with lots of everything and anything. The guys were nice too. Oh and a funny side note, as I was getting out a couple quid for our late night snack, a guy who was standing a few feet away asked "Is that a fast pass?" I looked up and said "Sorry??" Turns out the guy just moved to Oxford from San Francisco 2 months earlier! Whaaaaa? He saw my Muni Fast Pass in my wallet which cracked me up! And even more funny is that he lived maybe 10 blocks from me in my neighborhood ... oh man seriously? Do I have to go to another country to find a random person who used to live in the Sunset???? I can't find anyone in San Francisco who lives in the Sunset. Crazy. We chit chatted a bit ... super nice guy. Awesome and totally random to meet a local San Franciscan at a kebab van at 10pm in Oxford! Back to the food ... we arrived home and I dug it. One bite and I was in heaven. I said "This is soooooooooo good" as I had sauce running down my face. Everything was perfect. They were super generous with their portions and this little lady ate it all. If there's anything I miss about England apart from the breakfast are the kebabs at 10pm. Yes, there is good food in England ... it does exist!! Great spot for those late nights staggering home from the pub pissed as hell and you have just a couple quid left in your pocket.

Right. Five stars…read more Seriously? Yes. But here's the thing. This is a KEBAB VAN. This is probably the best kebab van you'll ever find. Seriously. I've been there for dinner. DON'T: get the normal kebabby stuff. DO: get the Gosht curry. The Kofta kebab. The shish. Anything they have to cook. they do this garlic yogurt mint sauce that will blow your salad cream back to the factory it came from. They'll put up with you no matter how drunk you are. Or how sober. NOTE: this is the van just outside of the church OFF of St Aldate's on Pembroke Square. Do NOT go to the dodgy van just outside of CC as you'll... well, things that should be solid, won't. For a while.
