We paid extra to ride in the Governor's Coach which was comfortable enough but not as pleasant as the slightly less expensive Naugatuck Lounge Car. We had chair seating but no tables and small windows; the Naugatuck had large windows that opened, chairs with convenient tables and the same comfy chairs. A much better deal. Wish the museum folks had made that clearer. We got free snacks: chips and water. The views were nice but not spectacular; most of the fall colors had faded. We did stop for close to 30 minutes at Fascia Chocolates in Waterbury, which offers tasty if rather expensive chocolates for the large crowds that swarm in when the train stops. Overall we enjoyed ourselves, but we kept feeling just a tad annoyed by our rail coach decisions. We like these trains, and we support the museum, and we're happy to urge others to do the same. But be careful in your planning, like we apparently weren't.

Nice breeze, no mess, no smells. Fairground itself for the Goshen Stampede was great. Lots of places for trash, plenty of shade. The stands for the rodeo should be expanded and they have got to do something about the view from the stands on the first three levels. You need to duck your head or stretch your neck to see what's going on. Easy to get around and plenty of parking.

"The People Are The Parade"…read more This spooky Halloween Parade is held annually in Collinsville, CT, on the last Saturday of October. People in their costumes gather at 6pm and the parade starts at 7pm. In 2024, this is the 31st parade and my first time attending. The artists and volunteers in Collinsville assists by setting up the event, selling sweaters, clean up, and more. As a first timer, my family and I didn't know what to expect. I knew costumes were expected and parking is located on the side streets. Some of the main streets had a parking ban. We scored parking up the hill on Main Street. The parade started at the Canton Historical Society. The hosts were 3 women on stilts and a Monster Mike truck; the truck had a person riding on it with a mic and a few dozen people in orange jumpsuits chained to it. Everyone in costumes followed the truck. There were people scouting for the most spooky, creative, and funny costumes; at the end, they will be judged for best costumes. They also were selling the Collinsville Parade hoodies. The CollinsVILLAINS showed up! The houses were decorated spookily. The costumes were awesome. The overall spooky vibe was amazing and like none other. It will definitely be the first of many for my family and I because we love spooky season, Halloween, and Collinsville. Good job to all the volunteers and artists!

There are really no bad seats - personally I think the standing room only tickets provide a really nice view. We were lucky enough to get second row seats but part of being so far forward was the disadvantage of an obstructed view of some of the far-side of the rink. It would be nice if they got a Jumbotron so you could see instant replays of the goals. Overall, pretty solid rink for a small school. Then we waited in a line to board the shuttle bus to take us to the Fairgrounds..about a 10 or so minute ride. Bag check before entering and paying $20 admission fee. It was crowded and proceeded to get more crowded as the hours passed. Lines for almost all vendors were very long. To get into the beer tent was extremely long so we did not even bother (plus ID must be shown and we did not bring ours). We ate a few things and all was expensive. The loaded tater tots were really good, although $14. Fried dough $12 and corn dog $8. Yikes. We caught a few songs when Styx performed. We visited the animals and some other exhibits. We played a few games, but they were so costly and all gave cheap prizes. Overall we did have a good time, but leaving was a nightmare. There were long lines to get to the shuttle buses to get back to the parking area. We waited at least 1 hour. All the vendors and exhibits had already closed. Once we were back at the parking lot it took another 40 min to get out! Not sure the crowds and expense are worth it, so not sure we will come again.
