She was a positive reinforcement only trainer, and it basically just made our dog obsessed with performing for treats. In the absence of treats she did not follow any commands, and she'd break the command as soon as she was rewarded. I do think strictly positive reinforcement might work for some, but not all. We opted for a new solution, and I found Dogs by Doug online, with good reviews. Upon our consultation, I got the feeling he understood exactly what Bruna needed, and he recommended a four week board and train program. It's always a risk leaving your dog with a stranger for four weeks, it requires a lot of trust. I instantly felt like I could trust him, and you can tell he really cares for his client dogs and remembers all of them. He sacrifices a lot to constantly have dogs boarding in his home at overlapping times. Well, fast-forward four weeks, and Bruna is home. We instantly noticed a difference in her overall behavior. He told us he was going to teach her to relax, and that is literally what he did. She has been responsive to all of her commands, and at times when she breaks a command or does an undesired behavior, we now have the tools to deal with it. Walking her on a leash has become a great experience. She walks at our side at our pace, no longer dragging us down the sidewalk. I am beyond impressed with Doug's ability. You can tell he's a master of his craft, with lots of experience. He did his job with Bruna, and now it is our responsibility to keep up with the training. We are going to try our very best, and follow up later this summer! We HIGHLY recommend Doug. Our household is entirely different, at peace again and we got to keep our good girl (and our sanity). Before…read moretraining, Lucas was difficult to control and didn't follow commands, mainly because of his size relative to our three smaller dogs. After a month of training with Doug, Lucas is now trained on all commands and the e-collar. Since Lucas has been back home, he listens very well and has a much better relationship with our other dogs! Most importantly, it was clear that he loved Doug. Doug was an excellent trainer for Lucas and our family. He is extremely patient with both dogs and humans and is incredibly knowledgeable about all things dogs! He loves what he does, and it shows. Lied to, but the truth came out when I said I had to take her. I can only assume she sat in a cage for 5 hours. She is twelve and could not walk to the car- she is to old to sit, caged, for hours. When I called to find out what had happened to my dog, no one seemed to know? Everyone originally thought she had been groomed? That she had bathroom breaks ( didn't seem to have happened by her joy in peeing and pooping) and had only been in a cage for a 1/2 hour. She can't walk well, I can't find anyone who can explain that. I hope your furry friend fares better. I can not imagine this happening a few years ago, but you get who you pay for. It's all 5 star reviews if you never get past the desk, My dog has gotten sick the last two times she has been boarded at Candlewick kennels and has come home a much older unhappy dog. I would ask what's happening- but as others have pointed out on Yelp- dog and cat owners just get lied to. And THEN it's a one star review. I had to carry my golden inside when I got her home. Can't be undone.

The staff are really nice and I feel very comfortable leaving him there. They indulge my " check up" calls to see how he's doing and he always leaves looking like he had a good time running around with a bunch of dogs. That's worth every penny to me. You need to leave a deposit prior in busier times (now), and make sure all medical paperwork is up to date ( par for the course anywhere). Bring their food along with your pet. They do have food for an extra cost. There may be less expensive places to board, but I really have piece of mind when my dog stayed here and is returned in good condition and happy!

Rascal left us 7 weeks ago having well earned the name Super Naughty Rotten Rascal. We struggled with having done multiple trainings and in home behavioral consults, that just left us with an out of control dog, out of control home, chaos and an unfortunate incident with one of our cats. (Hank is alive and well after his own recovery). We were faced with a very hard decision. Many others were telling us to rehome our beloved pup, we were the problem (we acknowledge some of it was us). We were using gates, muzzles, crates, interactive toys, walks, doggy day camp among other things. NOTHING we tried worked. We were at the end of our ropes. We found an advertisment on Facebook for Stonehill Kennels, spoke with Chris and we were sold. After a few weeks of waiting Super Naughty Rotten Rascal was sent to Bootcamp. The first four weeks he did great and we were scheduled to see our baby boy however Super Naughty Rotten Rascal had one more trick up his sleeve. Boy did he test his trainer Cassidy. They worked through him trying to exert his dominance on her and the situation. We waited five weeks to see our baby and he was a new dog. Doing every command beautifully for Cassidy and us. (insert a very ugly mom cry moment). We are so proud of you buddy. Today he has returned as a super fun loving well behaved Rascal!!!! He has boarded there successfully, and goes to doggie play care regularly. When approaching the center, he can hardly contain himself, he is so excited to be there and be with people and the dogs. My greatest concern for Louie, when in the care of others, is his safety. Over the past 7 months, his experience has been very positive, and I have been happy with both the service and the staff.

They were being very sneaky, and once they got caught, they didn't want me saying anything on their Facebook page, because I'm sure other dog owners would NOT be happy.
