Took my kids here over the summer and it's so worth the trip. It's all free! We got to see live surgeries, horse therapy, lots of cool exhibits. It's like a free (small) children's museum with so much to learn about.

I am a low income Senior, just the sort of client this veterinary clinic and hospital is supposed to serve. When I brought in my cat YumYum because he was not eating the vet undertook various tests costing $200 and concluded he had an obstruction in his stomach requiring emergency surgery. I authorized the operation, costing about $1,000, and it turned out no obstruction was found. When YumYum did not eat or drink after the operation I took him to a private vet, who replaced the improper Elizabeth collar with which he had been fitted with a proper one which allowed him to eat and drink. The vet also expressed surprise that YumYum had not been given an ulltra-sound before the operation, which is routine in diagnosing stomach obstructions in cats. I brought YumYum back to Dumb Friends Veterinary hospital two weeks post op to remove the stitches and was charged an additional $135. I also signed a monthly payment contract for the $500 balance on my surgical bill. When a few weeks later YumYum began to vomit and I realized he might still have medical problems that would require costly veterinary care, I called the "financial counselor" at Dumb Friends and asked her to forgive my remaining payments so I could pay for the new care YumYum might need. She refused, as did her boss. Although I can forgive the possible malpractice YumYum and I received at Dumb Friends Veterinary Clinic and Hospital I cannot forgive the hypocrisy of Dumb Friends in advertising its core value and service as being compassion for low income pet owners and their pets, like YumYum and me, and then denying me this financial relief. Based on my overall experience I advise low income pet owners in Denver to avoid this facility.

Vita Building (DDFL VETERINARY HOSPITAL) has been so genuinely kind, supportive and knowledgeable with helping my family and our furbabies. We didn't know how dental surgery would be possible asap for an infection (prices are outrageous everywhere) but so grateful and blessed someone led us to this place. A miracle honestly. Gave our baby the best care today and will recommend to anyone and everyone.

The buildings are stunning, they often have little outdoor events going on, and my son is loving horse therapy.

Hit up the Women's Bean Project and fulfill all three ideals at the same time. My only regret is that I didn't start shopping here eons ago. My guess is the end-of-year holidays is the busiest time for them, based on the flurry of activity I saw in the warehouse when I stopped by last week, although you can support them year round by shopping online or at King Soopers. You can get edibles like cornbread and brownie mix, salsa and other dip mixes (garlic, dill), exotic flavored instant teas, their signature soup packets, coffee beans, chocolate-dipped espresso beans, jelly beans, gift sets, and a lot more I can't remember right now! They also sell tempting handmade jewelry as well. As someone who (in a past life) used to make a lot of jewelry by hand, I can tell you they are high quality and well-made. Women's Bean is based in an old firehouse on Curtis street, which is super interesting to look at. Production happens downstairs, with the 'showroom' and shopping upstairs. You'll likely see people assembling gift baskets and making jewelry. So, grab a basket, load up, and finish that holiday shopping! P.S. Interested in volunteering? Check out their website and hit them up - they are always looking for help.

I signed up for this class because…read moreI am familiar with watercolor but I wanted more ideas, tips, and techniques to improve my skills. For the first session, we had a sub for the class and she seemed apprehensive on how to lead the class. The two hours consisted of us essentially having free time to paint and a few basic brush movements. The second class was then led by the main instructor who seemed more confident and taught us basic skills such as painting wet on wet, dry on dry, etc, however this should've been done the first week. Additionally, the supplies we were given were not great, most of the paints we were given were out of certain colors and we were given a small number of papers and had to request for more if needed, which felt unnecessary. After she went over these ideas, she let the class go on Pinterest and choose a painting they'd like to replicate. She would walk around and give positive praise, however, did not offer feedback or various ideas on how to improve the painting. I love the concept and idea of this class, however, I'm disappointed this felt more like a free paint time rather than an instructional class for paying almost $200.
