I'm a transfer student from a local community college, in fact, multiple junior colleges. It was until as of late, that this is my first semester attending this institution of higher learning. Thus far, it has left a lasting impression and presented itself as a welcoming community, amongst students from an array of backgrounds. If things work on my favor, I'll complete this within the next year and a half or two years. Lastly, this library, is a great spot for independent study and focus. There is a small cafe, called Dominguez Den, where they serve coffee and pastries, a great snack, after a few hours of study. read more

No Charge" I've been studying for my LEED exam, but I've been having trouble studying at the local library because of all the screaming children. I decided to come here and to see if I could get some work done. This library rocks. Lots of space, plenty of plugs, coffee shop, study rooms, and lounge areas. The only down side is the parking. Since I'm not a student at this fine educational institution, I have to bum a ride with my friend that works here to study. Otherwise it's a long walk from home or an expensive study session for parking. About my credentials: I've probably visited over a dozen libraries in my life time. I'm not much of a reader, but I like to go to libraries to study and hang out with friends. Now that I think about it... maybe this is the reason why I grew up socially awkward and single most my life. It all makes sense now. read more

I have studied here twice because it stays open later than public libraries (LAPL and LA county libraries, which close at 8 pm Monday-Thursday, 5:30-6 pm Fridays). It's very quiet and there are no children screaming, or people with substance abuse disorders like at the public libraries. I am not a student, and they do not ask for ID to enter. I have studied on the 4th floor and it is very quiet. Plenty of outlets. WiFi is good. The bathrooms are clean, and even smell good. I am a ucla alum and have also studied at usc, and because these have older buildings, the bathrooms are not as nice. Both ucla and usc's bathrooms smell bad and are not clean. I park on Victoria street for free parking, and the library is only a short walk away. Just be very careful crossing the street because drivers don't seem to want to stop even when you turn on the pedestrian crossing flashing lights. They need a street light here so cars are forced to stop at a red light. read more

Honestly, I'm not even a student here at CSUDH, but I come here with a friend just to get some work done. It's way better than a Starbucks Cafe. The library consists of 4 floors, each getting quieter as you go up. The first floor has a mini cafe and lots of open seats that allows students to eat and chat. This is usually the loudest floor. The other floors are what you'd expect of a library. Pros: *LOTS OF OPEN SPACE TABLES AND CHAIRS. Good for private studying and sleeping. *AVAILABLE WIFI. You will need a student email to access this. *AVAILABLE COMPUTERS. These are scattered throughout each floor, but you will need a student email to access this. *PRINTING. Located on the 2nd floor. It cost $0.15 per page to print. They only accept nickels, dimes, and quarters. No dollar bills or pennies. *PENCIL SHARPENING. Located on the 2nd floor next to the printer. *HOLE PUNCHER. Located on the 2nd floor next to the printer. *STUDY ROOMS. Located on the 2nd floor. You will need a reservation to access these. *CHARGING STATIONS. These are found practically in every table. I take advantage of it and charge all my accessories. (Bring portable battery chargers for maximum freeloading) Cons: *CAN GET FULL DURING MIDTERMS SEASONS. This is common for all campus libraries. *SOMETIMES DISRESPECTFUL STUDENTS. Not all the times, but there will always be a few students who talk louder than they should to other students, are making a phone call, or are eating messy foods in the library. read more

The CSUDH Library is really nice, I mean really really nice. When I first started going there, Dominguez Hills started building it. The old side of the library is just that, OLD. But they did fixed up the old part of the main floor of the old library, putting in a coffee shop, a studying area, and a place to lounge around and surf the internet on your laptop. The new part of the library as I said is really nice. A bunch of computer labs, private meeting/study rooms, tables, info desk, and etc. There is also a patio on the ground area next to the walkway from the old area to the new area. There is also a sun deck on the 4th floor (3rd floor of the new library) with chairs and such (enjoy sunbathing). The 5th floor is the cultural area/study area which I got to check out before they closed it off to students. It was like a mini-museum which also has tables to study. read more

I love CSU Dominguez HIlls for being what it is. Its one of the smaller CSU's so it doesnt have as much as what the other big CSU'S have to offer (Long Beach, Fullerton etc.) Even though it is small and the campus life is more of in and out type of feel, the Library is one of the better things they got going. Very quiet, large spacious building that allows one to study in an environment where concentration levels can reach its highest peak.4 floors that gives you the options of different environments to study. read more

Still nice and shiny, I hope they can keep it up! So this has to be one of the most state of the art libraries out there right now. Podiums are located throughout with internet access, along with a number of work stations. There is also plenty of workspace if you need to read or just have a bunch of papers and books strewn about for studying. And the chairs...NICE! Sometimes there are moronic jibber jabber yapping people in here, it's hit and miss to have the staff tell them to put a lid on it...but in general you can find somewhere that is nice and quiet so you can concentrate and get your work done. The design of this place is a bit odd, as it retained the original library but kind of pretends it isn't there anymore. The new entrance is what used to be the original first level of the old library, but it's more of a thoroughfare now to get to the "new" library located "behind" the old one. You can still access the "old" library by using the catwalks across any of the upper floors, but the original space is not utilized as much these days. This is a benefit in some ways, as you can find a spot to study without people around to bother you...the area is just a little worn, but has that nice, classic library feel to it. The library staff is meh, most are either clueless or grouchy as hell. Pretty sad for these grouchmonsters to have a job that they despise so much. What a miserable life that must be huh? Well don't let Debbie Downers ruin your visit! And remember, if you get hungry, there's all of the food and snack spots in the student center (including the always wonderful beer-stocked DH Sports Lounge!) read more

The CSUDH Library is the best. It's so comfortable to do homework or study and perfect to get in the zone. Obviously it gets full during midterm and final season but it's possible to find a place to study. My favorite place is 3rd or 4th floor since they're quiet and people know they should not talk, and if they do it should be low. Beautiful library too! read more

CSUDHs' library is amazing! The layout and space is welcoming and comfortable for studying. I'm a doctoral student and I usually find myself here on the weekends to write my dissertation. It's the perfect place for quiet- study time. All- day parking is $8. read more

Great place to study just make sure you are packed up and ready to go if you choose to stay until closing. The library staff will start ushering people out before closing time & will hover uncomfortably until you acknowledge their presence. Library is my favorite place on campus ! .15 a page to print out but there are other academic programs that allow you to print .10 a page instead. There is a new side and an old side to the library. I honestly prefer the old side because it is a lot quieter and not as many students go there. They have comfy chairs in both sides so perfect when you wanna just sit there and study alllll day long. They have a bridges connecting the two sides together so you can always move around. Elevators are the most confusing things about the library though. Certain elevators on the old side will only take you to certain floors so read the signs before getting on. The new side has a more modern feel to it. It has windows wrapping around the whole building so there's a lot of natural light coming in and you can watch the sun set for a little study break. read more

Lots of seating and lots of outlets! There are silent floors and floors where you can talk to friends. Computer access is available too. Also lots of study room if you want to study with friends, but you do need to show your student ID in order to use it (every person wanting to go in the room).
