Professionalism. Make sure to drink your fluids. Use the bathroom minutes before donating. Staff is friendly.

Delta Blood Bank - Granddaughter

0+! Now what!??! I…read morelove the points system and choosing your reward for donating. It's great. Enough with the free Baskin Robbins, other blood banks! Do you really want to see me after a pint of ice cream?? No, you dont. When I lived with the parents the DBB would call our house 3 times to remind me, my sister, and my mom that our post donation waiting period was up and we could donate again. Yes, the lady would call leave a message for me, hang up, dial the same number, leave a message for my sister, hand up AGAIN, dial the same number AGAIN, and finally leave a message for my mom. That's worth annoyed 5 stars right there. It's a good cause..doesnt take too much time...just do it.

I just read an article written in 2007 stating that the CEO of Delta Blood Bank makes $357,000…read moreannually. It's an amazing sum but I assume the position is that important. I've been donating blood since I was seventeen as a Navy recruit. I've donated blood in our ports-of-call all over the world. We used to call the Red Cross nurses "vampires", because we knew they wanted our blood when they came aboard. I've never asked anything in return for these donations but I have been given many different things. The main reason I began to give blood because the Navy would serve you a New York strip steak at dinner if you showed them your donation card. It was great for a kid that only weighed 125 pounds! I only have a little over five gallons credited with the Delta Blood Bank since we have moved here from Illinois. They have always treated me well and the donation sites are clean and the employees are very professional. I'm not much on the cookies and hot dogs, but I do enjoy the apple juice after donating. The new system of accumulating points is very interesting. I currently have about 200 points and it's fun to use their computer to see what I can get if I redeem them. Donating blood for me isn't about the steak, cookies, hot dogs or apple juice. It's about helping another human survive another day, week, month or year with a commodity only we have. It can't be manufactured or taken from animals, it's ours and ours to share only if we choose. In this age of "ME" and "what can I get" it's comforting to know there are a lot of folks like me willing to share their time and a very valuable fluid for no pay or very little personal gain. I'll soon be 57 I've been donating for 40 years and have no inclination of stopping my visits to the blood bank any time soon. I did ask the employees not to call me anymore. After all this time, I know when it's time to donate. Encourage one another. "Save a Life, Give Blood"

I was in Modesto, CA on an extended visit with family when I received a calendar reminder that I…read morecould make another donation since the 56 day clock was winding down. That's when I decided to go to the American Red Cross donation center in Modesto because saving lives is a great way to support the community and blood is always in short supply, especially with all the disasters that continue to happen across our beautiful country. As with everything else today, I had to download their app and create an account which is no big deal for me. Once that's done I easily schedule my appointment and when the day arrives I show up maybe 20 minutes early, but that didn't phase them at all, especially since they weren't busy. Check-in was a breeze because I had previously completed the health history questionnaire online and I was then taken to a room where the nurse would ask a few more questions and give a finger prick type blood test that I believe was for hemoglobin, but I might be wrong about that. Once she was satisfied my 'paperwork' & test were in order she took me out to the main area where your blood is taken. They are all very professional and talk you thru every step of the process before starting the procedure itself. Then she locates the best artery to draw the blood from, cleans it real well with antiseptic, and when she's ready to insert the needle, tells you it's time to look away if you don't want to watch, which I almost always do, though I have watched at times. Everyone is different, but for me, when the needle goes in it's kind of like getting a shot without the feeling of the vaccine going in your arm. You'll have something in your hand to squeeze to assist her in finding the vein, and then once the blood starts flowing she'll ask you to squeeze it every 10 seconds or so and you do not feel a thing. Once the bag is full, about 5 minutes for my thin blood because I take baby aspirin, she tells you your finished, has you put pressure on a piece of gauze while she removes the needle and then bandages the site. Your done now and asked to go sit down for a 10 minute observation period in case you get light headed which has never happened to me, and have a free light snack and something to drink. It's that simple and almost a painless process. Please seriously consider donating blood because you really can save a life. It's that important.

Absolutely unacceptable experience at the Modesto BioLife location…read more I had a 7:50 a.m. appointment and wasn't given a decision until around 10:00 a.m. I spent over two hours waiting only to be told I couldn't donate. During my medical screening, I disclosed that I had previously been told I was prediabetic. I also came prepared with official medical documentation from my healthcare provider confirming that I do not currently have diabetes or prediabetes. Instead of reviewing or accepting documentation from my physician, the nurse refused to accept it and insisted that I now have to schedule another doctor's appointment and pay additional money just to have BioLife's own form completed stating the exact same thing my physician has already documented. So after wasting over two hours of my morning, my gas, and my time, I'm now expected to spend even more money to obtain duplicate medical documentation simply because it isn't on BioLife's preferred form. The entire experience felt like paperwork and liability mattered more than actual medical evidence from my healthcare provider. If this is BioLife's policy, it should be disclosed before people schedule appointments and waste half their morning. I have already submitted a formal corporate complaint regarding this incident, so there is no need to respond with the standard "please contact us" message that appears on other negative reviews. I'm looking for accountability and a review of how this situation was handled--not a generic response. This was one of the most frustrating customer experiences I've had in a long time.

I read the instructions they said to test it behind my ear and leave it on for 6 hours I wasn't having any problems so I thought let me just go ahead and try to dye my whole hair why did I do that?!?! I don't know if anyone is familiar with the movie The Goonies but I look like I could have been his little sister "Hey You Guys." I have scabs all through my head my right ear got so big and it's just leaking my thyroids were inflamed. So I went to the ER about 2:30 a.m. and I got out of there by 5:30 a.m. I got two shots one of each arm and one on my right side it hurts so bad and then I got ibuprofen so I told them I will pick up my prescription at my pharmacist I don't know if I should have opened my mouth and told them I don't have no money but they the medication came up to $35 the next time I go into the ER I'm going to be very clear with them I don't care if you got to give me the off-brand $35 is a lot I could have did a lot with that. The service was fast and quick but the way this economy is going I'm quite upset I felt like you should gave me the off-brand stuff or charged me the off-brand. FYI I will not be posting before and after I don't want to send nobody to the ER.

Update: they told us the scans showed that there was nothing wrong, well we went to the emergency…read moreroom the next morning, the exact same scans they took, the doctors sent him to the emergency room because he had a fracture at the top of his spine and bottom of his skull, luckily it wasn't a super bad fracture, but the er said if it was worse it could have been fatal, he now has to be in a NECK BRACE for 8 weeks, which this hospital failed to give him, we could not even get an ice pack, and it was a haste to get one cup of water. What had happened here in this hospital has been unacceptable, I hope if you live within this area there is a better hospital to attend if you have any emergencies, this hospital has failed in basic needs for their patients, deeply disappointed. The discharge papers we had to ask for after saying that he already had them said he only had a concussion and nothing in the discharge papers ever mentioned that they gave him stitches, how to care for them or anything, I really want people to know how bad the service here is and to go to any other hospital or emergency room nearby
