I've honestly never had such a smooth and friendly experience donating blood before now. Th Red Cross staff are professional, patient and thorough. They made me feel comfortable from the instant I arrived for my appointment. They are also very organized and everything is clean and safely distanced. I will definitely continue to go to Red Cross as I continue to donate blood a few times a year. They also have a super easy-to-use app that keeps you updated and has your donor card for easy access.

The one challenge is because of COVID, there are no more walk in appointments. In my experience the appointments now need to be booked several weeks in advance. The staff is top-tier, the snacks are abundant and varied (I stock up and fill my purse!), there is plenty of seating, comfy chairs, and of course, every platelet chair is hooked up so you can watch Netflix while you sit still and help save lives! Before I had to switch jobs last November and now no longer work in a hybrid role, I was here at least once a month. You can find the donation times online for blood, platelets and plasma. Once you are signed up they will send you reminders and the day of the donation you can do the Rapid Pass to save you time when you come in. Located on Euclid Ave. you get buzzed into the parking area, sign in to the building and then go to the donation area. The check in process is well run and efficient. Since they limit the number of appointments at a time there is no waiting around like you may encounter at some of the blood drives. The plasma donation works by taking your whole blood and then returning the platelets to you, so it takes about 1 hour from start to finish. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional. They take very good care of you and make sure that you are OK throughout the whole process. After you finish there is a nicely stocked snack area to get some sweets and beverages. Red Cross also offers some bonuses such as T-shirts, hats and gift cards at various times during the year. If you are looking for a great way to help others consider making regular Red Cross Blood, Platelets or Plasma donations. It is a great way to give of yourself.

The workers in the front were great and helped me through the process. When I was sent back to the donation area this is where the trouble started. The first woman ( lady with redish hair and a wide blue headband on her head) who came over to help me stuck me with the needle but was unable to get it correct and asked someone else to step in. The process started and it was fine until it stopped and the Second Lady ( Long braids , very helpful and friendly) came to see what the problem was. I guess the First Lady ( blue headband) set the machine up wrong and it was not returning the cells to me. Which resulted in me being DEFERRED for 56 days. I didn't do anything wrong and yet I'm the only one to be negatively impacted (Loosing out on $700) The manager called me back and was super unhelpful and unprofessional. So moral of the story donor beware go to bio life in mentor instead * note I did get the first donation amount of $100 however I was set to get $800 total for donating over the next 35 days which now I cannot do so I am loosing out on a part of income for something that I did not do. If you do go make sure to get the girl with long goddess braids and dragon tattoo on neck she's fantastic.
