I go to location 053 and the employees there are great. Friendly, helpful very kind people. The only problem I have is these anti-d bracelets they give to people. I understand they have a different type of plasma than others but why are they special enough to jump to the front of a line that a lot people have already been standing for an hour or longer. The person they are providing plasma for is no more important than the person I am helping. I came as a first time donor with my friend. I was aware the process would take some time. My visit was going fine until I was told my blood pressure was too low which I believe was because I had just gotten my finger pricked and had been sitting for some time and the nurse told me to wait 15 minutes and to walk around a little bit to get my blood pressure higher. I also have never been told my blood pressure was too low before. I started walking around in the main area as I was told to do. One nurse asked why I was walking and I told her because of my blood pressure. Then this other nurse overheard and proceeded to scream NO at me and yelled for me to sit down with no explanation. Mind you I am a 18 year old girl and I had little to no knowledge of donating and was following what I was instructed to do. After sitting back down with my friend the same nurse who yelled at me yelled at my friend for having her feet on the seat and another guy for having his phone plugged into an outlet. Every word she said was rude with a mean tone. Another nice nurse came and asked me if the lady who yelled at me explained why I shouldn't have been walking then told me it could mess the process. I told her I understood and again I was doing what the nurse had told me. I waited for the 15 minutes then went to retake my blood pressure, it was high enough to donate. The nurse told me to wait to be called. As I was sitting there another nurse came and told me the nurse who had yelled at me canceled my appointment and told me I would have to go through the whole process again. I asked why couldn't I have just waited and sat for another 15 minutes to take it again and she said it was too late because the other nurse had already canceled it. I would like to say I had good experiences with everyone else and they were all nice besides the one nurse. I typically do not write reviews or become that upset over things but to say I was pissed would be an understatement. I will never come back to donate plasma here. The last time i was here I had 4 new people put in front of me and my wait was over 2 hours. Today while I'm standing in line a man lied and said he was vip and was put in front of me and he even said "I'm not even vip" and my wait is even longer now. In the 20 minutes I've been in line , 10 people have come in and the line hasn't moved. They are ALWAYS understaffed and often rude, even when the workers are the ones slowing things down because they're too busy talking to their co workers. Signed up thru a referral during a promotion in which after donating 5 times would recieve an additional bonus. I'm order to recieve bonus I had to download I give rewards app, and comolete donations in a certain. They the first three donations on the app it tracked each time I came in and gave, showing two appointments left to reaxh required visits. After the fifth visit it said I was no longer eligible to recieve the bonus. Afree bringing it to the attention of the staff I was given different excuses as to why, but ultimately told the center didn't handle that and gave me a number to call. of course when called that number they told me it was center that would have to correct. After multiple times back and forth and basi being jacked around I realized it was futile to try and collect. Each place blamed the other and gave contradictory reasons on why I no longer was eligible despite following all the rules. It was obvious no one cared to take the time to help resolve. was told repeatedly someone would contact me and of course that never happened. Poor service, put blame on other department, lied, and complete disrespect of time. I would recommend the other plasma company in Lexington, avoid CSL. read more

Severely understaffed for morning run. With 4-5 stations for medical screening, only one is being used. With only 8 donors in chairs, it took an hour and a half before I was seated with an addition 15 before I was stuck. No I was not a new donor and there were only 3 people in front of me. If you are going to donate, go to the Oxford location or Octapharma. You will be here 4 hours just waiting to donate. read more

Long long long waits for a few dollars. I did this for years in college and some after, but its not worth the wait if you don't really really need the money. The staff are wonderful but can sometimes be dry and methodical. For new donors you'll have special rates for the first 5 times you go as long as you go all 5 times within one month. As of right now the payments are as follows (it goes by weight in lbs): 110-149lbs $35, $35, $35, $35, $35 150-174lbs $50, $50, $35, $35, $50 175lbs+ $50, $50, $35, $35, $50 Regular donors receive a lot less. FIRST TIME I WENT(read the second one): I made sure to do my research and call in advance. Make sure to eat grains, veggies, and white meat to keep your blood healthy. You can get disqualified if your blood isn't in the best condition. Eat well the night before and the morning of the donation. Call in advanced to check how busy it is. You'll watch a video, answer a series of questions (multiple times), and sign a consent form. Afterwards, you'll get a physical exam. You'll get your finger pricked and receive your non loaded debit card. They'll ask you to recline in the S chairs then hook you up to the machine. While the pressure cuff is at it's max, pump your hand (the nurse will tell you what to do). All in all, it takes around 30mins to 45 mins. The entire visit is about two to three hours. I didn't feel any problems other than being sleepy. Early bed time tonight. On a side note, it is a business. There are lazy workers and very hardworking individuals. That seems to be the norm of any workplace. I was able to get a few of the nurses to giggle which helped ease my tension. My experience was positive but mostly because I did my research and I was polite. SECOND REVIEW: I genuinely don't like being petty. However, I was told on the phone by the call person that I could "report all I want". I'll try to be as unbiased as possible with my review but what they did to me was extremely shady. I have no blood related disorders, I had eaten correctly, and I passed the blood stick test. I told the blood stick lady that needles made me feel uncomfortable but I was fine after I was stuck. Later, this center decided to use that very same wording to equate that I was so afraid of needles that it affected my health. I was able to get stuck by the needle and I genuinely felt fine. The machine wasn't taking my plasma though. I was pestered and told that it was my fault because I wasn't pumping my hand enough but I HAD been pumping my hand. I was also asked who stuck me. I told them who it was and watched as the attendant started pushing the buttons on the machine frantically trying to get it to work. After they shut the machine off, I felt woozy but I felt much better. I had to beg for juice but was given Powerade. What they told me is that I was being PERMANENTLY deferred for fear of needles. After I left, it took at least thirty minutes for me to stop feeling woozy after drinking the Powerade.I called another center to try to get someone to listen to me and they said that I could come in on Monday to get tested. When Monday came around, I was instead called by a lady who had been at the original center who told me that it was "anxiety related" and that I'd still be a danger to myself and company policy stated they could defer me. she made sure to tell me that it wasn't a diagnosis but a mere observation. I spent about 30min telling her literally that I wasn't having an anxiety issue in relation to the needles but she had no intent on listening to me regardless. As you all can see in the picture, I WAS previously able to donate plasma. When I went back, there were complications and I was blamed for ALL OF THEM("not pumping my fist" even though I was and "being a danger to myself and other people" because I simply don't like needles). DO NOT GO TO EITHER CENTER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. I had to beg for juice and I still felt terrible when I left. And NO it wasn't related to anxiety.These people are not medical professionals. There is literally nothing professional about the nasty trash waste from needle packaging that is constantly left on the floor. I did not appreciate being interrupted by the call lady every time i tried to repeat "I WAS NOT HAVING AN ANXIETY REACTION TO THE NEEDLES". read more

After waiting for over two and a half hours as a new donor, after watching the video, and being bypassed for someone who came in after me the "nurse" (CMA if I'm not mistaken) finally tells me that I cannot donate because of what I'm wearing. At no time did anyone mention to me prior to wasting fours hours of my life that I could not donate while wearing a dress. The nurse even acknowledged me and had me watch the video without saying a word about it. This is absolutely ridiculous. The hospital I worked at had a plasma donation site and not once turned someone away based on clothing. Don't waste your time coming here. The intake "nurse" is rude and, quite frankly, a terrible person. I was also referred to as "not -my husband's name-" instead of her even attempting to pronounce my name or refer to me as a human being when she was forced to take my medical history. The front desk staff was friendly though. I ended up going back to ask for a number to file a formal complaint after my husband told me the other things this "nurse" said about me (which I'm sure violates HIPPA or at the very least violates common decency) and wound up speaking with Harold, the assistant manager, and Tammy, who's position escapes me at the moment. They are both highly professional, courteous and friendly. I was even offered staff scrubs in order to comply with the random, un-posted, dress code. Truly, the "nurse," Beth is the most difficult and horrible part of the facility. Everyone else I interacted with was wonderful and absolutely deserve praise. I will offer this place a second chance one day after the sting of degradation has faded some but only because of the people I spoke with outside of this "nurse," who feels superior to me. read more

I get aggravated everytime I go. Staff just takes their time with no respect for the time of those they are supposed to be providing customer service to. They chat and yak and go on break and smoke cigarettes while donors wait and wait and wait. And no one moves too fast either. They stop, watch tv, gossip, joke. No work ethic at all. So not only does it take a HUGE chunk of time for not much money, you'll probably get yourself all pissed off as well. Customer service SUCKS at CSL plasma. read more

Not a good experience at all. The screening process is extremely subjective, meaning if you fail to "look" the part, or if you have any sort of manual labor history that shows anywhere on your arms or hands, CSL will state that they suspect you of being a drug addict and state that you cannot donate - I have never "done" drugs and I do not consume alcohol. The aforementioned applies, EVEN if your plasma is 100% free from any problems - my plasma, for example, is 100% fine, according to my histopathology report (taken at another location to assess CSL plasma's local accuracy) My plasma is 100% drug, alcohol and/or disease free, yet, since I have remnants of scratches (that have 100% healed) on my hands, I was told, after already donating a few times, and having a 100% squeaky clean medical history, that I am not allowed to donate. They have tested my plasma at the centre, yet because of the way I looked tonight - not allowed to donate. Eek! Again, it's about the customer service and the inaccuracies of their visual assessments that have been documented as aggravating. Again, they failed the visual test, and thus ejected a viable donor. I'm not the first, and will not be the last ... Good thing I was only instructed to donate twice, for an evaluation of the centre, but, from a "customer" perspective, I was aggravated by the wasting of my time by CSL, and the insinuation that someone like me, with my incredibly clean background, has ever utilized drugs. That, as a real customer, would adversely affect the experience, and thus, should be reason for concern as it would be, and was, humiliating to experience. Otherwise, if you need cash, feel free to venture over to the plasma centre. Just - do not talk with anyone, keep your head down, and state nothing beyond the questions asked. Otherwise you will be asked to leave if you have any sort of old scar or markings on your hands. Artists beware and all manual labor people, also beware, you will be ejected if you have any nicks, from metal or artistic works that might have previously injured your hands. Also, note its cleanliness - seriously needs to be sterilized, because it is not a clean place. The floors, bathrooms and donating areas are NOT in medically sterilized condition. Great place for fast cash in a pinch! N yes I said fast. It did use 2 b xtremely slow especially 4 1st timers. However that is no longer the case which is 1 of many differences since Liz H's review. Ive been donating at this location twice a wk every wk 4 over a year n Ive seen many changes. (1. New name "CSL Plasma" (zlb was once the sister co n now the zlb name is nonexistent). (2. New donor fees...r now only 4 ur 1st 2 donations as follows 110-149 lbs=$35, $35 150+ lbs=$45, $45. After ur 1st 2 donations u bcome a regular donor at the following rates 110-149 lbs= $15, $19 150-174 lbs= $20, $34 175+=$20, $39 1st n 2nd time of the wk respectively. (3. New hrs as follows m-f: 7a-6p sat, sun: 7a-1p. (4. No more bonuses. There used 2 b monthly bonuses as well as a new donor referral bonus. The previous as well as all other bonuses have been terminated. (5. As previously mentioned it is now much faster than b4. The amount of time it takes a given person 2 donate is nearly entirely dependant on the weight, diet, n overall well-being of the individual donor (newhere from 30 mins 2 a few hrs). However the amount of time it takes 2 process a new donor has decreased dramatically. What used 2 take newhere from 3-6 hrs now takes roughly an hr. Id still recommend arriving as early as possible 4 new donors n returning donors alike. Definitely wanna get there b4 lunch no matter who u r. N while im making recommendations I def recommend this location over the oxford cir. location. I also recommend the following people (in this order) 2 stick u: Zack, A.J., Chad, Qui. Overall if u need a lil cash 4 a lil time its a good option 2 keep in mind n theres no better company n no better location than CSL Plasma on Winchester Rd in Lex. I hope this review is helpful. I attempted to donate at the CSL Plasma center on Winchester Road in Lexington, KY and was amazed at the inefficiencies and just how poorly the center was managed. I came in around 7:50am on Saturday, September 17. There were about 20 other donors in the waiting room with me. I was waiting for over 45 minutes before a tech took me back to test my blood. I can understand that it takes time to set up, but there were at least 4-5 people who finished the computer questionnaire after me who were somehow let back first. Doesn't CSL Plasma have a computer system to track the order of donors arriving? If so, it does not seem to function properly or CSL lacks the personnel who know how to use it. Once I got to the back waiting area It was at least another 30 minutes before I finally threw in the towel and walked off. I left at 9:10am, extremely frustrated. This simply is unacceptable. There were only about 10-15 beds set up and the techs seemed to be in no hurry whatsoever to get more set up. Getting the beds set up in a timely manner is not back breaking work. I noticed that there were 5-6 techs just watching television while the front and back waiting rooms were almost filled to capacity. Unbelievably, there were several techs just walking around "chit-chatting" while the 10 or so booths had 1-3 techs occupying them. I am unsure whether they lacked supervision and direction or if they just didn't care. It blows my mind that a business can function in this manner. I honestly do not donate just for the money. I know that plasma is always needed to help save lives and my mother was a victim of breast cancer. I have no choice but to find another blood center to donate to. I would almost be led to believe that CSL Plasma does not want my donation. read more

I sat there for almost 3 hrs, watched their video, went through registration, just so they could tell me that they made a mistake typing in my social. They then made me wait longer so they could try and fix the mistake. Called me back up there just to tell me I couldn't donate until their techs in some other state corrected the problem. I drove over 30 miles one way to get there and they can't even compensate me for gas money for the trip home! They just told me to come back in a few days and it MIGHT be corrected by then. When I told the guy at the desk how much of an inconvenience this was, he gets an attitude like I did something wrong! I won't be going back again! Very unprofessional. read more

The staff don't know what they are doing, they dig around in your arm with a needle and leave your sore and they tighten the blood pressure sleeve so tight that my arm has literally went numb almost every time.
