Please be aware of the FIVE MINUTE late policy. This was not evident in any of the literature or communications that I received from this office. They are completely in flexible. They encourage you to use their text messaging service to communicate with the front office staff, however, they are unresponsive. I sent a text message saying I was running a few minutes late, and showed up eight minutes after my scheduled appointment, but never received any indication from the office staff that they would need to reschedule. I wasted 40 minutes in back-and-forth traffic across town. I've never seen or heard of such a strict light policy, combined with such exceptionally poor communication and a healthcare setting. read more

I went here several years ago and had a great experience then, but this visit on Aug. 2025 was totally different like most of these reviews my experience was the same, Doctor started ordering all the things.... xrays, boot, injection air cast, medication and according to them custom orthotics which I couldn't fit in any of my shoes useless and I needed to buy a pair of Brooks shoes .....Sorry you signed a paper telling you they are all non- refundable items in July we are sorry.... all highly unnecessary overpriced ..... don't care for the patient what so ever just pushing products I was out of pocket around $975 .... was also highly misinformed on cost of all unnecessary items according to billing department they are training alot of new employees that should of told me....Sorry they just didn't know to tell me.... New podiatrist said that their recommendation did more harm than good, and the outcome might actually be additional damage. This office is very clean and looks like a spa or nice nail salon to the point where I was frantically googling the staff's medical credentials before the appointment because it did not look like a medical office. That may be a good thing to you but it made me a little wary from the get go. My appointment was on time and I did not have to wait long in the room. That being said, the only subjective history taken from me was from a technician and I did not voice all of my symptoms or concerns since I wrongly assumed the doctor would be asking more questions. Once she arrived she asked me to point out my pain location with one finger and wrongly diagnosed me without asking any other questions. She barely touched my foot or ankle and told me that I have ankle instability, which I don't but failed to look at me stand, walk, do muscle testing, or even perform a full range of motion. She steamrollered me and made me feel like anything I said was inconsequential. She then slapped on a cookie cutter plan of care, which involved $600 custom orthotics, a $70 compression sleeve ($12 on Amazon), and a $221 ankle stability brace that you can find on Amazon for $20. I was just to wear this brace and not do standing cardio for a month and then return for a follow up. This would work great for someone with chronic ankle sprains or an instability issue but I do not have these issues. The technician told me that my insurance would cover the brace nor the insoles but told me that the brace would only be $90 so I figured I'd give it a try. I nixed the insane custom cork orthotics (try an OTC cork insole or you can get custom cork orthotics made online for $100-$200). Cherry on top, I get a bill in the mail as apparently the $90 brace was now $221. I have called the billing office several times without a reply and have left messages with no response. The brace they gave me, of course, did not fix my issue and was just a waste of money and time. I canceled my follow up and will definitely not return. The vibe of this place is that they are trying to rake in as much money as possible without prioritizing good outcomes or good therapeutic alliance. Maybe check it out for an ingrown toenail but I would steer clear with orthopedic issues. read more

Here are some things to be aware of when seeking treatment from Dr. Nicole Freels and Lexington Podiatry: 1. Your follow up visit for something like the removal of an ingrown toenail is NOT covered. Even cosmetic surgeons include a follow-up visit. Dr. Nicole Freels, I hope you're reading this. 2. Billing is the most insane I've ever dealt with. They want YOU to pay upfront while they bill your insurance and then the business will refund you--allegedly. No thanks. 3. NONE of the ridiculously over-priced products which are largely epsom salt, tea tree oil, and pumice stones have prices. You are handed a bag of what you "need"-- most of which can be bought at Wal-mart or Sally's Beuty Supply if you want to get fancy. Think $65 for some epsom salt scented with lemongrass oil and packaged in a brown apothecary jar. RIDICULOUS. 4. If you have any issue that requires an additional visit, be prepared to pay. 5. My ingrown toenail remomal cost at least $900 and that's not counting what my insurance covered. 6. Save yourself LOADS of money and look elsewhere. read more

Insurance fraud. They want you to schedule 3 or 4 appointments when everything can be done in one visit. But they make more money with the more appointments because of the co-paying and charging the insurance each time. Let alone charging you $400 for so called "custom inserts" that they didn't even mold my foot for. They took a picture of my foot and said that's all they need for the custom inserts. Sure enough, when they came in, the inserts had my name on them but didn't fit whatsoever. They were just normal cheaply made inserts that didn't even have an arch. Very sad place. And if you have to use the restroom, they give you a key with a very large stick attached to it like an old gas station so you remember to give the key back. I'm not joking. Very clean and spa like office, as well as very personable staff. Attention to detail and returning phone calls, as well as answering questions is lacking! First appointment I saw the doctor after xrays and then an ultra sound. I asked some questions that were brushed aside "we'll deal with that later", but never came back to my concerns. Quickly diagnosed, and left the room as her staff continued to come and go with costly items that I could have purchased from Walmart for 1/3 the price. As well, medication prescribed without information as to the term, side effects and even if I wanted to be on medication. First visit and MRI was to be ordered, and it took two full weeks before the Lab received the order. During those two weeks I asked the office staff three times about the MRI, and got invasive responses. When then mentioned on my second doctor visit, it was "overlooked". After being in the boot for 4 weeks, I had my second doctor visit and Physical Therapy was to be ordered as well as another prescription (similar situation as to the first one, with no explanation). It took two phone calls and a week and a half to get the PT order, and the prescription written. I will not be returning. read more

My wife scheduled foot surgery with them and gave them an $800 deposit. When she cancelled the surgery 2 weeks before it was to happen they refused to refund the full deposit and kept $250 because she had cancelled 2 weeks prior to the surgery and not 3 weeks, even though she was not informed of the cancellation policy until she called to cancel. I saw one of the doctors on Jan 2 of this year for a problem I was having with a baby toe. She checked it out and shaved it down after explaining her diagnosis. I was encouraged that I was headed to a healed toe. Then her asst came in and "recommended" a few products to purchase. So I bought them. Soap that was a total waste of money to exfoliate the toe. Considering it was the side of my toe, this was a ridiculous recommendation in reality. Then a toe lift which actually was very helpful when I could wear it and finally Salicylic Acid. That absolutely ate the skin on my toe . . . instructions said to apply it twice/day and I only put a drop on in the morning (only one time a day!) I did it for a few days until I started noticing pain from the area. Indeed . . . it ate my skin. I called the office and was told to stop using it. Well, duh! I haven't been able to use the toe lift since. Today I went to a different podiatrist in a very average office (as opposed to a spa like environment) who explained this is a Lister wart (never mentioned by the first doctor). He shaved it down and hopefully now I'll be able to use the toe lift which will keep it in the normal position and not rubbing by the shoes. It's been a long process and this won't ever go away but having it shaved down when needed (if needed) and using the toe lift should keep the pain away. While the office appears well run from the outside with a large number of support staff, I was pushed around like I was part of an assembly line during the appointment. I was told I had to have xrays without ever speaking to a doctor. My concerns after my appointment have not been addressed. While the receptionists are polite, the promised phone calls have not come (days of waiting and repeat phone calls). I am left with a product that does not fit (orthotics) with no one returning my phone calls to explain why or the next step. read more

I saw Dr. Carter today, and got my toe treated. Dr Carter and her whole staff was nice. What I like about the office includes but not limited to: 1. You can easily make an appointment online. 2. They have a patient portal where you sign up and check for messages, billing, labs, etc. 3. If you have any concerns about treatment, they give you a card that has the information where you can text and send a picture of your concern. The doctor will look at the pic, and communicate back to you via text. It is easier than an appointment; and it saves you another copay. They did book a follow up appointment. It is just nice to know that if you do have a concern before your follow up appointment, you can easily have your concern addressed. 4. They have a handy post operative kit to follow up with an ingrown toenail treatment which has everything you need to treat your toe including the amerigel, gauze, saline wash, etc. It has everything you need except epsom salts. Currently, the cost for the kit is $38. You don't have to buy their kit, but it is convenient. I appreciate that the kit was offered. 5. The podiatrist was able to examine my toe and remove the ingrown parts at the same visit. Some places would make you return to do the procedure, most likely, just to charge for another visit. This practice did not do this, and it is appreciated. As a side note, there was some glitch when the billing person checked out my insurance, and the billing person stated I did not have coverage, as my coverage had been terminated in December of 2015. I called the customer service number for my policy via my cell phone, and spoke to a customer service rep who confirmed I had coverage, that it never been terminated since its effective date in January of 2015, and that my policy number was accurate. The customer service rep was nice enough to talk to the billing lady to confirm that I did indeed have coverage. Thankfully, that issue was resolved. I do not blame the billing person, as I understand there are computer glitches at times. I went to this practice because they had received some great reviews from another review website. I had absolutely no pain from the procedure that Dr Carter performed. I found her personable, and she clearly communicated with me about the procedure and discussed any concerns I had. The assistant who bandaged my toe also communicated all necessary information clearly about what I needed to do for my aftercare including the instructions in writing. While the doctors and staff were really nice I will not be returning to this office or would I recommend it. I went to the office January 2017 for an ingrown nail. A simple treatment ended up with two infections and having my entire nail removed. Nearly a year later the nail still hasn't grown back. This experience is one thing and could be credited to bad luck, however the experience I had with her billing staff have convinced me to never return. At the conclusion of each visit you check out and pay any copay. EVERY visit I did this, but I made the mistake of not keeping my receipts. Months later I received a bill from the office saying I owed them from a visit. Knowing this must be a mistake I called and left a message. My call was not returned. Another bill was received. I called again. No return call. Finally, on the third time I called I got someone and they refused to admit that there was any room for error on their end. Claimed to have returned my call and left a voicemail (not true) and continued to send me a bill for their bookkeeping error. Add this terrible customer service experience and being overcharged to my now mutilated toe and I think I'll find a new doctor. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone. read more

Forty plus years of service work on concrete floors have done a number on my lower back and feet. Dr. Freels has worked to find solutions to keep me moving around. Her recommendation for a change of shoe brand made a world of difference right away. Soaking my feet didn't seem like a big deal....until I did it. We're working on my old, tired ankles now, so I can continue to work my creaky bones. My job requires me to be on my feet all day, and they've made it possible for me to keep going. A recent injury meant I needed relief at a time when I didn't have an appointment, and they were able to fit me in, and help with the pain.
