    Bruising (hematoma)

The workers were talking to each other so I sat there for over an hour without help even though they knew I was there. They put the needle in wrong and I immediately felt the pain but they insisted it was okay. I fainted and was given no food or drink until I was almost walking out the door. Just before I left they told me I got a hematoma, did not explain to me how it occurred or what to really do they just gave me a sheet and told me to follow the instructions. Got a call from them three days after and they told me I could donate again if I wanted to and even when I told them I'm still really bruised and swollen they said they could still do it. It took almost two months for the bruising to go down and I was in so much pain, do not go here.

When I came here the bigger that works there with glasses lady put the needle in WRONG and I was in pain the ENTIRE TIME! Every time I would squeeze the ball or move my arm just a slight tiny bit or move my body it would feel like my vein was going to pop.. My boyfriend went almost 5 days ago and they put it in the wrong part of his arm, and didn't put it in the vein correctly so all of the blood and saline basically puffed up in his upper arm and was swollen for a week now and he's been in a lot of pain. This photo is 1 week after.

My boyfriends brused arm after the "nurse" put the needle in and then readjusted it.

DO NOT GO HERE! FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH DONT DO IT. My boyfriend and I went months ago, and here's what happened. We got like a consultation. we watched a video and answered questions on the kiosk there. We wanted to do this to pay for our college classes because we're broke college students. The nurse I had was fine, and everything went well physically for me. However, I was next to my boyfriend when we did this and the nurse who helped my boyfriend out just kept moving his needle in his arm almost like she didint know it was in the spot it was supposed to be. She then took it out and readjusted it and put it back in his arm, and my boyfriend started to look like he was about to pass out. I texted him asking him if he was okay, and he texted me that he was feeling dizzy, and his head started to go down. So I asked the nurse to tend to him and that he told me he felt dissy. They kinda looked at me weirdly because I kept looking at him, and I had to explain that he was my boyfriend, and they were kinda like giving me weird looks. They ended up taking the needle out and putting it in his other arm, and we finished our plasma bottles. We never went back because a few days later, his whole arm started brusing hella bad. He couldn't lift heavy things or work out for a whole month. The pictures are from the first week after, but they got wayyyy darker over time and took him over a month to fully recover. I feel like their nurses or the people putting the needles in might need to be more educated on how to properly put the needle in without causing harm to the person donating. This was overall a spooky and horrible experience, and I want to warn people who need extra cash and are thinking of going here. What's more important, your well-being or money. Anyways, that's all I have to say. Thank you to those who read this and heard me out.

Staff provide unhelpful and inaccurate information on the phone and in person. The wait is that incredibly long. Management is rude.

Does anyone have pictures of the donation chairs?

I do not because we are not allowed to take pictures in side. However, they are large, non-moving, reclined & comfortable. Not flat like the older donations tables.

How much do they pay for each donation?

    $50 minimum

Does anyone know how compensation rates work?

Depends on your weight but average $50 first visit of the week and $65 2nd. I believe your first ever should be $100

In my case while I had booked the appointment in advance, the shortage of staff created some challenges and there was a very long wait time and I had to get back to work after the donation. I opt to donate platelets because I've had an adverse reaction to donating whole blood and my veins aren't big enough for plasma. Apheresis works well since I have small rolling veins. You have a donor arm and the other is the return. In between is a machine like a dialysis machine that extracts the platelets that look like dense scrambled eggs. Recovery time is faster for me than whole blood donation. The staff here are friendly, kind and appreciative of all the donors. Everything is sterilized well. Total time, if you do your Rapid Pass at home (questionnaire) is about 2.5 hours. Just remember to dry a lot of water the night before. Additional bonuses are you get rewarded for donating, you get an email where your plasma goes to and what type of patient received your platelets, usually, they're cancer patients. The knowledge that you helped just one person is the best reward for me.

The staff are all extremely friendly and the overall atmosphere is comfortable. There are more than enough spaces and seats to go to whenever you donate and they make sure you're comfy. Even when doing platelets they'll do what they can to make sure your donation goes as smooth and comfortable as possible. If you'd like to take a nap while watching a movie, Netflix, TV Show anything you can. If you want to just rest and stay longer after you're fully finished you can. The one major complaint I had when going is that it could take a while to get your checkup even if you get there early. Sometimes there maybe delays because the staff could be busy with other stuff or finishing wrapping up on donors who are done. Which could lead to you waiting in the wait room longer than you'd expect. Just remember to have your rapid pass done before going for your donation. And also make sure you have enough to drink or eat after you're done so you won't get sick or feel weak after your donation. Go to this donation center whenever you're eligible to donate as it's worth attending and doing a good deed to save others.

My first Adult/Pediatric CPR AED course was at this location back in January of 2014. I believe I…read morewas in the same course as the first reviewer where the instructor was over an hour late. The environment seems questionable and the fact that roughly 10 students were waiting outside for an hour seemed even more odd. A student finally received an email for the code to enter the building and everyone seated themselves in the classroom. At 10 AM another student received an email that the instructor will be there in less than 15 minutes. Class was scheduled to begin at 9 AM. The instructor finally arrived an hour late and began passing out handbooks and setting up the classroom. 5 minutes later a student got up and hollered at the instructor that he's untrustworthy given that he arrived an hour late and should've apologized right away instead of setting up the classroom. My second course was March 2016 to renew my certification. Thankfully Janice was on time and made sure everyone knew the course agenda. She scheduled a break that would suit everyone's schedule. Overall I wouldn't recommend this location if you are being dropped off by a friend or parent. There is nothing within a reasonable walking distance if is class dismissed early. There's a Sonic, Starbucks, and McDonald's within reasonable driving distance. Plenty of time given that break is half an hour.

I came here on a Saturday morning to complete the in-class portion of the CPR/AED course. When I…read morefirst got there, I was definitely unsure where to park. I had to do a couple of loops around the building in order to find the lot. It is small and off to the left hand side if you are facing the front. The building is a bit run down and not the most aesthetically pleasing to eye but they are there as a resource so that is better than not having them at all. After parking, I had to enter from the loading dock on the back side (heads up for those interested in taking the course). I was a bit skeptical about how successful the day would be but it actually turned out great, mainly due to our instructor. Ingrid Pocock was really welcoming and patient throughout the whole class. She definitely knows what she is doing and I would highly recommend her as an instructor. She took the time to make sure that all questions were answered and that everyone could properly practice the skills for certification. She is the reason why I reviewed this place a 3/5 stars. (-2 for the building and confusion with the entrance). If this review were solely based on her skills as an instructor, I would give it a 5/5.
