Honestly if u work here and cannot stand people being rude find another job . People who work here I don't know if no one has ever told u but there is a time and place for u to speak your mind about how customers treat u . Of course it's voluntary for us to donate plasma but it is also ur job to be professional for a company u r representing . Came in as a new donor, took about 4 hours to get through consent, set up, screening, physical, and first donation. Reception, medical, and floor staff were all very helpful. Only issue was during the first needle insertion. My phlebotomist was not very confident, psyched herself out, and then bruised my left arm. Instead of apologizing she mentioned the worst part of bruising someone is how embarrassing it is, which left a bad taste in my mouth. However the next phlebotomist was very considerate and the guy who helped me at the end was sweet. Overall, not a bad experience, just time consuming, and I got a tired, psyched out phlebotomist. read more

Ive been donating on and off for 6 years. Today i got the wrost tec by the name of Ashley. Im a red dot meaning a difficult stick. I asked her if she was experienced? She replied with yes and than proceeded to say she is up for the challenge long story short she not only hit my vein but a nerve as well. One of the most uncomfortable excruciating pain ive endured other than child birth. I spoke with the supervisor and she pretty much blamed it on my veins and my human error and said "next time u should be more picky on who does it." but last time i checked they are certified, even the tec that helped said next time I wont b someones test dummie.I wont say his name for employment retaliation. would've returned but i didnt like that the "supervisor " never actually engaged in my concern or my name for that matter. Just that Ashley is certified and did her job. P.s I had to continue in pain or no pay. I hour of pain never again. read more

Friendly staff that helped me understand the process. The first visit did take quite a while, so be sure to plan accordingly.

This center has improved since I first started going here. The place is clean and well-maintained and the employees seem to know exactly what they are doing. The customer service you get, quite frankly, seems to depend on what attitude you project and give. Be a bastard, expect to be treated with muted irritation or hostility. I have seen it before. On the other hand I have seen plenty of great relationships and conversations between donor and employee. (Also scumbags that hit on women over and over when the woman makes it clear that she isn't interested.) The payments for the first five visits regardless of weight are now $50, much better than before. This is for the 45 days following first donation FYI. Bathrooms could use some work, but they are serviceable and clean. Wish they'd use better automatic hand dryers. read more

Today was my first time donating plasma! My health inspector Patrick was amazing and professional. He addressed all of my concerns and then checked up on me while I was donating. The phlebotomists one of the names was Karen, I can't remember the other were also amazing. I had trouble pumping and they gave me paper towels to squish, and came at my aid instantly when I started to feel faint. The app is amazing I love it! read more

If you are transgender, I suggest not going to this location (162nd and Glisan, Portland,Or). I have had several occasions where staff disclosed my transgender status loudly in front of a room full of people. I also had one guy wanting to ask me tons of questions about being on testosterone even when I said i was uncomfortable talking about it with him, as he was sticking my arm. The staff definitely needs better training on this issue. read more

They really need to start making sure that people's hygiene is up to par!! They just let people come in smelling like the day before, its really bad and they let them lay on the beds with out wiping them down!! And there's no way in "HELL" that the blood pressure cuff should ever smell like someone else's musty armpit!!!! And they were going to put that musty cuff on me!!! No damn way!! The initial visit takes a while so be prepared to spend 3-4 hours here getting all the paperwork and such done. The lobby can have some kinda sketchy folks but if you look past that and know that your doing something good for your community and getting paid then your good. They get pretty intimate with the questions but that's to be expected. I AM NOT a needle person but needed the cash. Both my times the phlebotomist was amazing! Second guys name was Andy (blonde hair in a braid) and I literally didn't feel him poke me.. AT ALL. Plus he has a pretty dope beside manner so if you can request him do it! There's also a guy named Matt Morrison who is also a works as a phlebotomist who will keep you cracking up laughing.. overall it's been dope so far.. I've heard Zlb Plasma Services (now renamed CSL Plasma) unfavorably referred to as the "trailer park" of plasma donation centers. is this an accurate assessment? yes and no. yes, there is a distinct double-wide atmosphere in the waiting room. yes, the average intelligence quotient amongst donors only begins to creep into triple digits if you start adding them together. yes, there is a methodone clinic right down the street. on the other hand, no... they don't have cable hookups, and they probably won't let you spend the night. still, it's not all bad. the employees are really a mixed bag. they range from young and bubbly to old and creaky, but all of them are polite and friendly. I'm not struck dumb with confidence by everyone who works there, but I have yet to have a personal bad experience, and the location has a very clean record. the time it takes to get in, give plasma, and get out is directly proportional to the number of people in the lobby at any given time on any given day, which is itself directly proportional to SOMETHING, probably, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what. a helpful attendant told me at my first appointment that the ebb and flow of donors follows no pattern but the changing of the winds. she did, however, suggest that the end of every month was busier than the beginning. she theorized that the ever-darkening storm cloud of impending rent was to blame. I am willing to believe that. two things keep me coming back to CSL: 1.) the compensation. yeah, sorry; it's always the money. my foray into funemployment has recently inspired me to explore sources of alternative income. plasma donation is an attractive option to me because it's not simply "free" money. I get to feel that my donation has a very real positive impact, and I take away between 35 and 50 dollars for my time, twice a week. not too shabby! keeps me in breakfast scrambles and microbrews, anyway. 2.) walk-in appointments. both of the other two major donation centers I have researched require appointments by phone which can be difficult to secure (receptionists begin taking names at 7am and by 7:30am, most if not all of the slots are filled.) at CSL, I walk in, fill out a questionnaire and register my thumbprint to confirm my identity, and on a good day, I'm hooked up to a softly humming mechanical vampire within 20 minutes. leaves me with plenty of time in the day for laundry and yelp reviews. if you're looking for a place to donate, I have no trouble recommending that you at least check this place out. I can't guarantee you'll be as comfortable there as I am, but the benefits make the endeavor worthwhile. read more

Went in to CSL Plasma on 164th and Glisin in Portland, Oregon on 08/28/2014 at 10:35am. I walked upto the front counter provided my Drivers License and my Tax ID information via a tax return, which I was told they accept wia the phone just 30 min prior to my arrival when I walked into the center the woman at the counter gave me all of the information I needed to donate blood, I watched their video, was called back to set up my profile and seen by their Dr. I waited to be called back, as I laid in the chair waiting for my turn to be hooked up, the technition Adam scanned my table, he asked what the last four of my Social Secerity Number was. As I finished stating it off he looks at me and says that is not what is in our system. I smiled and said "well that is what it is". He replied okay I will go double check. When he came back he say that is not what is in the system, so I said "do you possiably have my husbands Social of **** he said yes that is what we have. Adam left and went to talk to the woman that checked me in and she came back to me and said I am so sorry It is an easy fix I'll have to have the manager fix it, she left. About 5 min later she returned and said that my the manager said she would not fix the SSN 3 issue because my tax return is not a valid piece of ID. I got off the table, where I was in the process of being hooked up to speak with The General Manager Brandy Vaughn. I told her that two other people approved it my information. The General Manager Brandy said rudely "I am sorry when you bring back valid Id you can donate." I left beyond mad. As I started to travel home I called CSL to speak with Brandy, I asked her to remove my husbands SSN# and she refused, she told me that I have to bring in valid SSN# information. I told her I want it in writing that she refuses to take my husband's information off my profile. She refused and hung up on me. I called corporate trying to get this issue resolve....I am still waiting for a call back. In my opinion, HIPPA was violated. read more

This place is totally out of control. Staff have no direction to count on, patients should plan on being here for at least 2 1/2 hrs. I've waited 3 hrs to donate, using their "FAST PASS", and got the run around bull so I walked out. Never knew donating was such a hassle. Never using their services again. read more

The place is kinda scary and dingy, but it's great to make money. Sometimes the lines are super long, but if you go on like a Monday and Wednesday, they're not usually as bad. Especially during the middle of the day. Most of the staff is pretty friendly and knowledgeable. I got a giant hematoma there once, but I have never felt unsafe or anything. Donating plasma is nobody's favorite thing to do, but it usually takes about 2 hours for a regular, and you can make an extra $70 a week. read more

Most of the time it's a good deal. I have been there when it seemed like no one had a clue and other times when it went perfect. check-in computers suck and are always down. All in all, decent place. There are a lot of drug users coming in though. All they do is lie. hopefully they do the drug screen and catch them. read more

I have a question. What is the waiting time after a stomach piercing,that I can donate?

I'm the on-site manager of a Public Storage facility located in the Portland, Oregon metro-- meaning I live here on the property in a nice 2-bedroom apartment provided by my company. This is a perfectly acceptable residential address to the Oregon DMV, the IRS, the cable company and my bank- but NOT to CSL Plasma! After three years of pleasant, problem-free donating, I was abruptly booted because my new address was deemed "unacceptable"-- despite my offer to provide my driver's license, utility bills, pay stubs, and photographs to verify the legitimacy of my residence and employment here. I called the corporate 800 "Customer No-Service" number in Boca Raton, Florida several times. They listened to my problem and said that somebody would call me back. An employee from this CSL location DID call, seemed attentive to my situation, then advised that somebody from Corporate would be calling back. But nobody from Corporate EVER calls back... What is the scientific and/or medical reasoning behind this company's apparent belief that plasma offered by gainfully-employed, long-term donors suddenly becomes "tainted" if that donor takes a job that provides them with on-site housing? Perhaps somebody from CSL should be given the opportunity to explain this bizarre "redlining" (an actionable form of discrimination) to somebody wearing a robe and wielding a gavel. My next step is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I suggest that anybody else who can't get legitimate issues addressed by this horribly uncommunicative company do likewise. I was a donor at this location for 5 years. During which I have gotten along with pretty much everyone there. During my last year as a donor my experience was appalling. I had one staff member write several false remarks in my file, which despite proving to be false are still being held against me. I have been spoken to 3 times for things that I did not do. And when the staff member who spoke to me realized that they made a mistake ignored their mistake and went about their business like nothing had happened, not even offering an apology. The final straw was when I was assaulted inside the center and staff did nothing other than check to see what was going on. When I later reported this to the general manager the incident was ignored. Due to all this happening with in the span of less than one year I felt that it was in my best interest to find another center to donate at. Due to a minor scar, which had caused no problem donating for the past 5 years, I was not able to donate at the 2 other centers located in Portland which are owned by the same company (other than CSL). When inquiring about returning to CSL until I could locate another center I could try to donate at I was told that I could no longer donate at any CSL in the country because I was a safety risk. During this visit the supervisor I was speaking to refused to let me speak to the manager. Over the next few months of trying to rectify this situation I have been lied to and spoken to as if I was a serious problem.
