Julie and her team at Alderus Mortgage were masterful at guiding us through our mortgage process…read more We were fearful at first because when we sold a previous house we had to move twice and were hoping to avoid that hassle of waiting for one house to close while the other was still in process. Even within the short window available (from when the buyers of our house needed us out) Julie was able to navigate the process without a glitch. We actually closed on the house we were selling and signed the papers of our new house the same day! In addition she kept us appraised of the details every step of the way. We highly recommend Julie and her team at Alderus Mortgage!

I am writing this review because Catalina Team EARNS it and DESERVEs a great business…read more I just got my property transaction closed recently, from the day I submit the offer (07/19) to the day the transaction was funded (08/19). On Aug 22, I got the key. My case is complicated. -I have 10% down only. -My income has three parts: rental income, self-employment, and W2s. -This purchase is my third home. In Dec of last year, Fed interest rate went up 0.25 percent. I have watched the real estate in bay area doubled, if not tripled, from the down term of 2009 to now. The good old days of low interest rate and low housing price are long gone. I figured that, if I could not catch the low housing price, I could still get the low interest rate. Hence, from the end of 2015 to April of 2016, I have tried all loan banks/credit unions/financial institutes from local to online to referrals, from agencies to direct lenders, with or without advertisement on TV/Radio/Road Signs, and etc. I learned in a hard way that it is nearly impossible to have a 30 yr fix jumbo loan with 10% down for NOT the first home buyer and plus my complicated income structures. In here, I skip 3 thousand words about frustration. In summary, 70% of those direct/indirect lenders would not take my case at the beginning. 20% of them took my case and materials and would not response to my calls and emails. 9% that took my case and materials gave me the annual interest rate above 4% or very high points/fees, or very low loan amount, which I cannot afford a single family home in a good school district. I literally gave up searching for any institutes issuing mortgage after April of this year. In June, a friend, who was applying the loan at that time, asked me to join the meeting with her real estate agent and direct loan lender. I drove 40 min and joined the meeting. The rest is history... Competing with other buyers and negotiating with the seller under the current market are completely different chapters. I'll skip here. After the seller accepted my offer, Catalina Team took over. - She is accessible not only in office but also on the trip to east coast. She remotely instructed her team to work with me and my real estate agent. - Her team is very experienced and prompted. Jessica, the loan processor, requested a lot of documentations ahead of time which saves time when the underwriter asked for them. Catalina knows how to present the case well. - Catalina is a seasoned team player that knows the importance of timings and deadlines and, more importantly, how to work with the RE agent, the underwrite, and the borrower. I would have given 6 stars if possible.

We shopped around for a loan for our first home and took recommendations for Steve Schauer's office…read morefrom a friend and our realtor. Steve was my very first stop for shopping my loan and he initially spoke with me over the phone. He suggested that we set up an appointment to meet and go over our loan options. My husband and I had so many questions as first time home buyers and Steve was so professional and patient with us. He is an excellent educator, telling us what we needed to know about home mortgages, not overwhelming us with those big scary mortgage terms and explaining everything in as much detail as we needed without going overboard. He spent so much time with us in his office and we felt totally comfortable asking all of our questions. We initially opted to purchase a new home and had to go with the builder's lender to receive closing costs. That lender was awful to work with as a first time buyer (totally different review) and we even called Steve a couple of times throughout that process to have him clarify some things for us. He graciously helped us despite not being our lender at the time. Fast forward a couple of months and we decided the new home wasn't for us. We found a resale and quickly went back to Steve's office to help us with our mortgage needs. He and his team worked at LIGHTNING speed to help get a mortgage in place and we closed within 3 weeks. They kept us updated during every part of the process, were always available to assist us with questions/concerns, and never left us guessing at any point. First time home buying was such a fun/exhausting/confusing/emotional/stressful experience but I can honestly say dealing with our lender was the EASIEST part of the process thanks to WJB and the Schauer lending team. I want to thank them for hustling and working so quickly. We so appreciate all of their hard work and will recommend them a million times over. ***Edited because the Steve I worked with for my mortgage was Steve Schauer and not Steve Lee. Steve Schauer is now at New American Funding on Paseo Verde & Stephanie in Henderson.***

I got in touch with Steve and from our first conversation over the phone I felt comfortable with him and decided I would give him a shot. He did not disappoint. He is excellent at communication. He told me what he could do and what he could not do and even clued me in on some facts with the loan process that I was not aware of. I told him I was in a bit of a crunch to get the loan process worked out as soon as possible and he and his team went to work fast. If he had any questions at all he did not hesitate to call or email me. And likewise when I had any questions (and I had a lot) he was very quick at responding back and making me feel at ease with the entire process. When I closed on my home and went to sign my final loan documents Steve was just arriving at the airport from being out of town. He made it a point to rush from the airport to the loan document signing even though it wasn't necessary for him to be there. He just wanted to make sure he would be there to support his client (me) if I had any questions. I could not recommend Steve and his team more. He was efficient, honest and very quick to respond. All things I appreciate much. I will use Steve again if I ever buy another home and will certainly refer my friends and family to him as well.
