The team at Crystal River Marine are top notch from the service I have received, I am a snowbird and brought a new boat down it was not riding correctly on the trailer , I called CRM and spoke to Garrett I made an appointment and within 5 mins he saw what was wrong 2 hours later my issue was resolved, next time (my fault) I needed a repair to my outboard motor I made another appointment and within 2 hours I got a call from Mike saying my motor was all set! I have read some bad reviews and if there was a problem I haven't seen that at all, this operation is really a quality group of people with a super clean well organized shop and I highly recommend this super nice business! read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR SERVICE. Poor quality work and dishonest Took my boat in for annual service and also to have my horn replaced, having been here several years in a row with good results and quality Knew this time was different when I was speaking with someone new : "Larry" Who kept trying to upsell me on various things that he said needed done in addition for my boat After multiple phone calls about these things, the requested service was done and boat delivered The very first time out after the service, I noted that my radio no longer worked and a couple other switches were now non-functional. In addition, the ignition switch was cockeyed, and my master switch for the batteries was only screwed in with one screw, also cockeyed. Sloppy work to say the least, causing me More work. The horn was functional, but obviously when they were in the electric panel they jacked a bunch of other things up with carelessness: this after spending over $1000 and having come here for years. I had the water pump/impeller replaced with the annual service, yet now my telltale no longer was shooting water out I noticed to my dismay after I got out to the fishing spot. Soon after I lost all propulsion and had to have SeaTow Bring me in on a holiday weekend. Taking the boat in, the service manager - John assured me that everything would be fixed properly, they would correct all of the electrical issues that were caused by their repair of the horn and figure out why I had lost propulsion. He called me later to tell me that the gear case /Lower unit "was fried" Therefore I had to order a new/rebuilt lower unit gear case, which I did and had them install for another $1000- Specifically $1100. John called me and told me that everything was operational and my boat was good to go. Keep in mind that they had two weeks to get the work done and ensure it was done properly/sea trial etc. I picked up the boat and launched it Thursday night. My boat was in the same condition as when I will Seatowed in: I still had no propulsion. I had to flag down a JetSki in the darkness to have her pull me in to the boat ramp. Taking my boat back over to Crystal River marine, John greeted me and told me "I don't see how that could be: we checked it out and ran it up and down the river and in the tank" There after one of the mechanics came out and worked on the boat for about an hour and it was apparent that they were not engaging the boat in gear/the gear case lower unit was clearly not working. He then did admit that they never did a sea trial at that point (which was obvious but I find it astounding that I would be lied to out right) " I have to give you that sir they clearly did not sea trial it. I was told it was done." Unbelievable Then no offer to refund my money after creating a nightmare scenario for me. I am dealing with them through American Express and may take additional steps. I picked up the boat with the old gear case lower unit, and they took back the one they had ordered. This morning I took it to a reputable mechanic in Tampa. He found it very curious that my old lower unit could burn up and become non-functional from "oil leaking" when I never saw any oil leaking. How does a quart of oil leak out and someone who has been boating their whole life not notice that? Makes me wonder after this kind of experience if oil was put back in there in the first place after they did the lower unit service. Keep in mind everything was running fine except for the horn when I took it in for the first service. Bigger question though is how any business can not perform work properly then lie to a customer. ***I will update this post if I am contacted and they make things right but as of now it does not seem promising. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place for service. Worst experience I've ever had in 20 years of boat ownership. read more

Crystal River Marine Stay Away! Not Honest! This place use to have great service when the previous service manager Ron was there! Now stay away from this place. I brought my boat in there and the last two times were a nightmare! Every-time I picked it up something else was wrong or disconnected and was told it was broken and was asked did I want to get them fixed? I brought boat in and was told that I needed new steering cables so I said go ahead and repair. When I got home noticed that the coverings for the wires were all taking off and gone? Called and fought with them to put back on! So they did and they were short and came off. Than they finally fixed and corrected after agonizing calls. Than brought in again for water in fuel and was told no leaks for the 3 rd time and charged over $1200. Than went to a reputable shop and said why don't you put on a filter with a glass viewing area on it for $20 and you can see water and drain it out? Why didn't the shop tell me that after spending over 1200?? Than I go to pick it up last tome and was told that my radio's were not working? Well they were when I brought them in? Another bait switch! When I got home and spent hours trying to find problem in hull couldnt find any problems? Than went to battery compartment and wires were disconnected and shoved below? Mechanic says not working than I approve repair and than all he does connect wires and charges me?? Than when I go to connect to the on and off switch I noticed ot was missing one screw and also was put on wrong and a whole left open?? (Look pics) Also the tire for the crank was broken off were when they moved it with tractor didn't raise it up! Well I said you broke my tire and they said it came in like that and after complaining they fixed it. So after all Of my own repairs I stopped by after calling and no return call from the owner Mike also stopped by looking for him and of course not around so left message with the new service manager shantell and she said she would have him call me and pull slips?? Why pull invoices just have him call me! Of course never called me! Also beware they also own the boat lot next door called Three Rivers Marine! Well there is a really good place down the road Homosassa Marine and ask for Vitro the service manager and he will take care of you very honest place! read more

After reading Howard's recent review and our own recent personal experience I have to agree that something is definitely wrong at Crystal River Marine. We took our 75HP Honda in as it suddenly started sputtering and misfiring. Crystal River Marine told us that the engine had incorrect spark plugs and 2 coil wires missing. What??? The last time the engine cover was off that engine was at Crystal River Marine last June for service work on the Head. They had the audacity to accuse us of changing out our spark plugs for wrong spark-plugs and removing the coil's. First of all we have NEVER removed the engine cover and secondly why would we to do that when we take it in for THEIR service. I agree there is dishonesty going on at Crystal River Marine as we sadly experienced first hand. They should be ashamed of themselves and their business conduct! read more

I first went here for a problem with my outboard because a fishing guide recommend the place. The previous place had the boat many times in the shop and and could not fix the problem although they tried. CR Marine did take two trips in but did fix the issue and the boat ran great after that. I kept on getting service on that boat at CR Marine and finally bought a bigger boat there. We could not be happier with the service, the people and the sales staff. Costs are reasonable and service is pretty quick (boat owners know how that can go). Well worth the drive to Crystal River (better than way down 19!) read more

Since purchasing we have had the outboard motor serviced, a trolling motor installed and a second battery system installed to make our boat a better fishing craft. bad service from parts. it took over 7 weeks and multiple phone calls to still not complete my order. some dowel pins were not included and john's response was come and get them. a three hour round trip for me. not very nice especially on the phone. read more

The people here are SO helpful and honest. Since we were newbies to owning a boat I wanted a good used pontoon in 2015 and I was not pushed hard to look at new ones. We have asked them lots of questions and needed special parts and they have been helpful. Unfortunately, we are not close enough for routine maintenance or they would have 100% of our business!
