A friend told me about the Door County Sled Dog Rides and I knew I had to try it out. I think most of the time they're at Whitnall Park, but the weekend we happened to visit, they were near McKinley Marina. We found easy parking in their nearby lot and headed into the line. It was pretty busy! It's $15 per person to ride and it all goes to a great cause - their non-profit. All of the dogs are rescues and so friendly. At home, the dogs are able to run and are never chained up. Here for the event, they were tied up near their traveling bus so everyone could pet them and give them some cuddles and love. They liked that, but I could tell what they really loved was getting out there and running the sleigh. We got there right when they opened at 11:00, but everyone apparently had the same idea. We waited 1.5 hours for our ride. Not a fun wait in the cold, but there are plenty of dogs to cuddle and the ride, albeit short, was so worth it! It was really, really fun. Two people can ride at a time (or maybe three kids). All of the volunteers running the event were so friendly and fun and were happy to impart knowledge or answer any questions. This is a great winter activity to try - kids and adults will love it. Next time, I'd like to try the Whitnall Park location. The volunteers said there is a warming house there where you can get hot chocolate while you wait for your ride!

We were told they were going to do a couple laps of a football field it was one lap maybe 40 yards 20 yards wide....... Anyways, The dogs are beautiful, and The female staff member is very kind. I just feel $15 a person for a very short ride is a little overpriced, but where else are you going to get a dogsled ride in the Milwaukee area can we all say monopoly.

I admit, At first I tried to do the 5 mile trail by Crystal Ridge, but struggled to find it, possibly I parked in the wrong area? I'm not sure, so I looked up a different trail using my AllTrails app and it took me over to this one. It was a very nice little trail with some beautiful scenery. Although, there was some construction happening, it was very nice. We started on a trail through some large trees. I could imagine it will be gorgeous in the fall. This trail took us along a river, which led to a large waterfall with rushing water. I love the sound of rushing water! We then went around a large lake to make the loop complete. Overall, I thought it was a very nice hike and I would do it again!

Great trail!! In…read moreconjunction with the Crystal Ride Mountain Bike trail, this is a great way to spend a couple of hours. The websites say it is a "easy to moderate" level single track trail. That may be so for an experienced riders, but I would recommend riders to have a solid technical base before riding these trails. I used to do a lot of Mt. bike riding back in college, but have been away from it for a long time focusing on road riding. This was a great trail for getting back in the swing of mountain biking. The trails really kept our interest and provided a good number of challenges. There is plenty of parking at Crystal Ridge. Trail is fairly new and not too well known yet, so it was not crowded. Condition obviously varies with the weather. If there is one thing that needs improvement, I would say that the trails could be marked better. There are markings at most intersections, but often times you can go for quite a while without seeing one. Hats off to the Metro Mountain Bikers for all of their hard work on the trail!
