So far, so good. I found a flier for National ARD/IEP Advocates while at a doctor's appointment. I…read morecalled and Mr. Geigerman was quick to get back to me. Look, I'm not trying to suck unneeded things from the District and cost them a bunch of money but my daughter needs to have proper supports while at school so that she doesn't get more symptomatic. I've tried working with the District when my oldest daughter was a 5th year senior in 2015-2016 and saw how nasty a teacher, her AP and other District staff got at the high school level (and she'd had a BRAIN SURGERY in December of that year)! Then I tried working with the intermediate school staff in 2016-2017 after my youngest became symptomatic in 6th grade and was eventually diagnosed with the same genetic disorder and primary diagnosis as my oldest. Instead, the same District staff got involved and rather than providing any real help, the District manipulated us and my daughter was treated horribly by one of her teachers, which all led to her becoming even more symptomatic. I knew I needed help after giving consents last year only to find out the District staff evaluating my daughter never contacted any of the providers who I gave the consents for and then the admins I was working with delayed having the meeting to talk about the results of their PT and OT consults until the very end of the year. I know my daughter qualifies for an IEP but they keep telling me she doesn't. So this year, I asked for an IEP evaluation. When we did that with my oldest, they sent a report shortly thereafter that she didn't qualify but then decided rather than failing her, as the District 504 coordinator said they could do, they would provide her services under her 504. Those services enabled her to graduate so we stopped fighting (and I say fighting because that is exactly what it feels like. It's not supposed to, as a parent, you are supposed to feel like a valued member of the 504 team, but it hasn't for me no matter if I am kind and polite or frustrated and aggressive). So I did my research on Mr. Geigerman. I don't take any stock in people who review on Yelp only 1 time. As an Elite Yelper, I review customer service, whether it's a restaurant, a retail store or any other customer service, particularly when I'm paying money for it. Mr. Geigerman costs money. I'm ok with that as I know he knows how to help me get my child what she needs because he did if for his own child. I'm not afraid of a fight because, in my opinion, I tried hard enough to do it nicely and have been mislead, manipulated and my child mistreated. And, without even meeting him face to face, what Mr. Geigerman has given me is more motivation to keep fighting! My daughter deserves a free and appropriate education just as much as the next child. The District doesn't have to invest in her for very many things because her disorder prohibits her from participating in most sports and many other activities that require high impact or repetitive movement. I'm sorry if they don't want to spend money so that she doesn't get further disabled by the school environment, but the way I see it, they waste far more money with all these meetings we have to have because they won't just give her what she needs. We have doctor's notes, we've provided all kinds of information, all for naught. While her AP thinks last year was a good year, my child came out of it more disabled, both physically and mentally, then when she went in. That is not a good year in my book. I'm hoping with Mr. Geigerman's help, 2017-2018 will be a better year for my child. More as time goes on, but I'm very thankful right now to have Mr. Geigerman on our team!

I have a hard time trusting his judgment when he states some of the most flagrant and egregiously…read morewrong facts about Autism, and I wonder if he's ever met a student on the spectrum. He is too quick to refer for an Independent Evaluation, especially to Laura Eskridge who is notorious in the area for constructing inaccurate diagnoses, using statistically unsound test protocols and procedures, and reaching unsubstantiated conclusions. But he has a podcast and prolifically posts negative things about district employees, so I get the feeling he has too much time on his hands and an axe to grind with minority special education team members.
