I was here for several years during the hardest period of my life, and every single person treated me with kindness, patience, and deep humanity. They consistently went out of their way to help in any way they could and were able to fix the constant pharmacy and health insurance problems that come with chronic medication./ Special thanks to Kelvin, Betty Jo, and Anna. Kelvin brought a playful calm and never made me feel like a sick patient. In the front office, Betty Jo and Anna are absolute gems -- warm, good-natured, and genuinely some of the best people I've ever worked with, which means everything under these circumstances. The setting is beautiful and homey, with a prize-winning flower garden and within view of the ferry landing which made going to the Psych office feel like going somewhere nice - not how you usually feel going to the Psych office. And I always looked forward to seeing everyone. I have made close friends here. I'm leaving the country now and will miss Crownview. I would strongly caution anyone considering Crown View Medical Group, especially if you rely on them for important daily medications. I had an appointment and was clearly told that my prescription would be sent to the pharmacy that day. It never was. By the time I realized nothing had been sent, the office had already closed, leaving me completely without my medication and scrambling to figure out what to do. What makes this even more frustrating is that this is not a one-time mistake. I was previously a patient at Crown View about two years ago and repeatedly experienced the same issue where prescriptions were delayed or simply not sent when they said they would be. Back then, I often had to call multiple times and essentially nag the office just to get them to send prescriptions that should have been handled as part of basic patient care. When a clinic is prescribing medications that patients rely on daily, failing to send prescriptions as promised is not a minor inconvenience -- it puts patients in a very stressful and potentially harmful situation. This kind of administrative failure should not be happening, and it's disappointing to see that the same problem still exists years later. Patients deserve reliable communication and follow-through from their healthcare providers. Unfortunately, based on my experiences, Crown View Medical Group has not demonstrated that reliability. read more

extremely hostile and antagonistic front office. these people do not want to help you, they have no compassion for you, they make you feel like you are an inconvenience for them, a hassle. I'm utterly shook how little empathy they have on display, how they refuse to hear me out. They interpret issues that I'm having as personal attacks and are quick to throw their hands up in the air. "I feel like I'm not being heard" into "okay then we'll make sure especially not to listen to you". it's absolutely baffling. Don't bother with this place. I made an appointment with a nurse practitioner last week. This was only because all the psychologists seem to do telahealth instead of in person visits anymore. So, I go in to work early so I can make my appointment at 3:45 PM. When I arrived and checked in, the inform me that they have cancelled my appointment for the day. They said they called me to let me know, but I didn't not receive such a call, voicemail, or even a text. I did receive a reminder text at noon about my 3:45 appointment though. I was told I could reschedule via a telahealth appointment with the practitioner for the next day. I said nevermind, I'll find another place. I had read the reviews of many other people also having their appointments canceled, but they were old reviews. Surely the office has got their act together, right? But guess not. I'm glad I wasn't a patient in emotional stress and needed someone to talk to right away. read more

I have been here a few times and saw Dr.meldon but let me be Frank every nurse practitioner and psychiatrist I have been to since I was seven years old for ADHD medication either if it's a stimulant or non-stimulant have never drug tested me and I am now 24 years old up until I've been here. I have only been here a couple times and they continuously drug test me according to their " beliefs" you are not allowed to smoke marijuana or take any other prescription drugs that aren't prescribed from them, regardless if it is prescribed from another doctor for any condition. Crownview was super helpful and reliable in the past, but it has gone downhill over the last year or so. Difficult to get a hold of, and always seems as if they're bothered when you do reach them. Voicemails go unreturned or it takes days or weeks to hear anything back so it's a pain to even pay your bill via phone. 'Short staffing' is only understandable for so long. read more

Dr. Anne Cox is literally the WORST doctor I have ever worked with. She is probably suffering from dementia and needs to retire ASAP. The woman can't remember a thing that I say and suggests that I stop taking medications "cold turkey" that could lead to seizure and death. I am going to file a formal complaint against her. We stayed with this office because the doctor was clearly smart about the brain, but I always bristled at how poorly he treated our family. After managing medications for my son for 3 years, the doctor turned to me and said, "What is his diagnosis again?" He was so busy judging his behavior, criticizing our parenting, and prescribing new expensive meds, that he forgot all about the diagnosis. Seriously. Stay away. read more

I was having some issues and told Dr. Rodney Sidransky all about it. Not only did he take the time to listen but he asked questions to better understand my symptoms. He also listened to my concerns about some medications and side effects. He then suggested a medication I had never tried and it turned out to be a great fit! Today I can function again. If I knew this place had 2.5 stars I never would have taken all of the medicine they referred / forced me to take. And no they didn't put a gun to my head and force me in that way. I was taken to Sharp Hospital in April for "being obsessed with money" there's a difference between being obsessed with money and using it as a tool to build your life for the better. Sharp Hospital legitimately forced me to take medicine I did not approve of or want in my body. I then came here for therapy after (all over the computer meetings. Zoom style) which felt like I was talking to some Facebook fact checkers. All these people would ask me about were my guns. Which the beautiful thing in this world is there's a 2nd amendment in place for a reason. I don't know why they were so worried about those. They should have been focusing more on me and what medicine they were giving me. I think there should be a new law where doctors can't give you medicine if they haven't tried it themselves. I don't know what university passed these people but they all need a retraining in how to deal with clients. I was forced to take 5 plus pills a day that messed with my mind and body. And my body does not work the same now. Probably never will. It's been over 6 months and it's still not performing like it was before I came in contact with Crownview. STAY AWAY!!! They will abandon you just like they did me. I wouldn't be surprised if there are tons of people who have run into this problem. Save you money and just get a journal these guys wouldn't help you one bit. They put me on tons of pills and then abandoned me as a Patient. If I could give -3 stars I would. read more

Bad news don't do it. They won't help you even if you are an adult, these people will treat you like you are a child, nor do they really care what your mental health issues are. They just want you to pay out of pocket for ridiculous diagnostic tests that are not covered by insurance. Even if you have previously been treated by a psychiatrist, no matter how long, they don't care. They say well you need these tests to make sure you are suffering from what you say. This is not true. I felt disrespected and belittled by them and the PA or whatever she was who could offer not even a sign of caring in her eyes or voice. I really hope I'm helping someone out and can spare you being treated like a worthless human. Nobody should be treated like this. And they will also tell you to be able to have them begin treatment you will need to come dump all of your current medications in the toilet while this person watches, even the ones that could give you seizures if you are to stop abruptly. This is not sound medicine they are practicing. Especially since they prey on people who have mental health issues. I said no thank you and continued my search for a new psychiatrist to help me and I understand that some people don't have that luxury but trust me be ready to pay out of pocket for tests and please don't cry in the office because they feel nothing for you and blame you for over reacting. This is not what anyone deserves especially if you are suffering from anxiety and depression. Long story short, don't go to see these people and save your money and your time. read more

Doctor-patient relations are like any human interaction--personally, I really like Dr. Anne Cox, and she gets a solid 4 stars in my book, if not a 5! My stars are based on other factors (again, this is just me): Parking on Coronado (as EVER) is a challenge, so I always gave myself drive time plus 30-40 minutes to shark around to find a place, and even then, maybe walk up to 6-8 blocks. This I don't mind, because I'm fit and enjoy walking, but for others it would make choosing this clinic impossible. The staff experience for me was typical of most therapist/psych clinics, where staff is USUALLY impersonal/functional and open and close the glass window. I guess that may be the nature of these clinics, and not personal about the individuals who work there. I'm editing my review after the original post I'm removing one star AFTER reading all the negative reviews: I had the very same experience (of other posters) of showing up and being told my appointment had been cancelled (the usual 'dr. had an emergency', or [insert here] whatever non-true reason they gave); said they'd tried to call 2x, and had left one VM message [which admittedly I rarely check] the day or 2 before the appointment. I have been a patient here for a few years. I was first seeing Cassandra, a nurse practitioner, who has been really great and got me through a lot of rough patches. Unfortunately she got transferred. I was skeptical to see a different doctor, but now I'm seeing Tiffany, a nurse practitioner. She has made the transition really easy and comfortable, she is a really caring and compassionate person. I cannot say enough about what a wonderful doctor she is to work with. I would definitely recommend her if you are able to request a specific doctor! The reason I am only giving 4 stars is because I have had bad experiences with a couple of the receptionists, (most other are great) who kept messing up my prescription orders and I had to struggle without my medication for a few days. read more

I go here through the choice program from the VA. I didn't mind the drive from El Cajon to the island for my appointments because it got me up early and motivated to go do something afterwards rather than sit at home. I was seeing Ashley, but she suddenly transferred without my knowledge and the next appointment I go to, there is a new doctor sitting in the office. Didi is a sweet lady and I wouldn't mind coming to see her more often but now the drive to that office is awful. Anytime I call to ask about anything, I get attitude from the people on the phone. I had to call and reschedule an existing appointment and then got billed for missing the appointment I called to reschedule. This week it happened again. I called to fix an appointment and no one called back despite the answering machine saying they will get back to me within one business day. I am looking forward to that bill as well. And then let's talk about the outstanding "paperwork fee" bill that I have. If you ever receive paperwork from the office, you would know that in order to receive the paperwork, you must first pay for it. So tell me how I have the paid-for paperwork, but monthly getting sent an outstanding bill of $75 for paperwork I have? When I asked the front desk lady about it she did nothing but tell me to take it up with the billing department but gave me no way of doing so. I will be calling the choice program to get me switched to a new office. I can't stand this place. read more

I highly recommend Crownview medical because my doctor is passionate, attentive, and helpful. However, though I have avoided bringing it up thus far, I have had several uncomfortable encounters with a receptionist, who doesn't seem to have the best people skills. In my experience, this hasn't taken away from Crownview's efficiency, but I wish the woman in charge of patient relations was more professional. read more

The secretary became extremely defensive and basically said it was her fault for calling the other office. Are these offices of the same Dr. not supposed to talk to each other? I do not know if the Dr. is good or bad, but judging the front office is simple - RUDE. It seems the rest of the comments center on the same issue - the front office. Stay Away... The front desk in Coronado has always been a disaster. As if they won't spend funds for more ( or more competent ) staff. I initially saw Dr. Cox at beginning of Covid and was profoundly depressed. I felt as though she was compassionate and intelligent. She gave me an option of either telemedicine or seeing another provider who was still seeing patients in person. Due to my isolation and depression I chose to see the alternate provider in person. What a mistake. After a few sessions with him I requested to change back to Dr Cox. As a female and due to my issues, I preferred a female. When I told the Dr. I preferred a female he informed me Dr. Cox " She doesn't want you " I was shocked. Often his comments rang of Misogyny. Very insensitive and crude remarks. I heard he was a General Practitioner for much of his practioner experience. With no other options I was handed to a Nurse Practitioner. It's been 6 months or so and I have never met her. At least I get my medication but there seems to be no oversight. While looking and consulting with 3 other psychiatrists in the past 2 months, all were in disbelief that my care was handled in that manner. In an urgent situation no one returned my call after hours. I ended up in the ER, a manic episode. Many times my pharmacy has faxed for refills with no response. If I leave a message for a refill or question, no response. After having a psychiatrist in northern Calif. for 14 years and another provider for 3 years it is hard to believe the way this office is run. There seems to be no continuity of care. Forget calling for most things. Your message will get buried or lost or ultimately disregarded. read more
