This hotel it looks decent from the outside, but from the inside, it's a different story. I'd like to start mentioning the good things. The staff was very friendly and helpful all the time. Also, they have a shuffle that takes you 3 miles from the hotel. This was really important considering that Memphis is dangerous. About the bad things of the hotel. This hotel is incredibly dirty, and there is a pervasive mold smell throughout the entire building. The rooms smell even worse, making me feel sick every night. This hotel is located on the edge of Downtown a short walk to the river and the pinch which has a few restaurants. The views are spectacular and there are busses directly to the airport and trendy districts of the City such as Cooper-Young and Overton Square. You walk or take a historic street car to South Main or Beale Street with lots of bars, cafes, and shops along the way (I'm looking at you Fat Tuesday, with a great DJ and frozen concoctions). The hotel was clean and well ran. The highlight was Ashley at the front desk who was so kind and accommodating. When the hubby mentioned it was my birthday she was so sweet, and our room 1028 couldn't be beat. Great hotel and couldn't be more satisfied!! read more

This place is a dump and at $159 a night, they really have some nerve. First off, we see a sign for the parking garage, it says hotel guests so we proceed to the gate, which requires a key card, we hadn't checked in yet so we push the button for the staff..we get no response. We back up, park in front of the lobby doors and go inside. The clerk says "I don't think there is any parking but you can check." Huh?? Is that why nobody responded when we presses the button for a staff person Ok. Next we go to the elevators, one of the 2 elevators stayed at floor 9, eventually the one elevator that was working, finally came. We go up to our room and my friend uses the restroom, comes out and says the toilet is not working; he attempts to call the front desk but when he lifted the receiver, there was no dial tone turns out there was no phone cord My friend goes down to the lobby to let the front desk know, they quickly sent a maintenance person who fixed the toilet and brought a phone cord. We're less then 30 minutes in, so pray for us y'all I do not recommend this sad excuse for a hotel. They have some nerve charging $159 a night! read more

By far the worst hotel I have been to in 20 years of business travel. Granted there are staffing shortages but waiting for 50 minutes and an hour and 10 at the bar is obscene. Dirty laundry is removed from rooms during one day and left scattered around the hallways until the next day. Additionally there was one elevator working for 4days. This actually happened almost two years ago but I haven't forgotten. It was Christmas eve and our car broke down about 100 miles from Memphis, I called the fromt desk and the person told me they're charging my card regardless, I asked them if I could use the room the next night same answer NO. We made it there the next day, it was Christmas and the place was empty, the girl booked us into a room on the third floor so I asked for a higher room so we could enjoy the veiw, she moved us but our room only overlooked the parking lot. The best thing about the Crown Plaza is the free shuttle to Beale Steet. It drops you off on the 1/2 hour and then you call to get picked up. Very handy and convenient! The second best is the breakfast Buffett that has made to order omelettes. They also had grits. Above all was the wonderful staff with top notch customer service. From the front desk, servers to housekeepers, everyone had that welcoming southern hospitality. I wish overall, Crowns Plaza Inc. Made a bigger sink vanity. Room was not ready as promised. Check in is 3:00 and room was not ready till almost 6:00pm Many other annoyed guests were also delayed. No explanation from staff. The entire back of the hotel faces interstate 40 and the roar of the trucks made sleep difficult-and our room faced the highway and the trash dumpsters. This is a dump. It appears nice until you stay there we have had multiple issues with xoxo roaches on our rooms , the water is sketchy at best every other stay they are shutting off the water on us. They advertise a shuttle but it's not available 99 percent of the time . The cleaning staff knocks on your door every hour . There was recently an incident with four rooms getting robbed. Dirty rooms have been given out on a regular basis. The key cards rarely work. They also have a very bad problem of giving us a room when we open the door the room already has an occupant . Over a half hour wait at the airport and when called told to get our own transportation and they would reimburse us but couldn't once we got there because we got a Lyft and not a taxi. The walls are paper thin, could hear my neighbors whole conversation. My toilet was very hard to flush and there were holes in the wall. My closet door wouldn't open. I was put in a room face the freeway and it was super loud. My room phone didn't work so obviously the staff doesn't want to be bothered with all the issues this place has. Horrible experience and had to jump through hoops to get refund and was STILL not refunded taxes and fees!!! loud, drunk guests at 12AM talking in hall. We run outside to realize their water everywhere and flooded lobby. Alarms were still going off so we check out to drive home and were told to call in morning for refund. Rooms were clean and tidy, internet was average hotel internet, but challenging to connect to. What really made this stay so amazing were Monica and Kim at the restaurant/bar. While my partner and their team were busy working a show in town, I'd sit at the bar for a few hours to get work done. Between the two of them, my glass never got below half full. The chicken quesadilla, chicken strips, fish and chips, and chocolate cake were highly rated among the group we were with throughout the week. I would also say how important it is to recognize the rest of the crew. Everyone we saw, from housing/cleaning staff to front desk staff, to shuttle staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming every time we walked in and out of our room and/or the building. read more

Where to even start? This place is an absolute sh*t show! We should have known as we drive in to the parking area and had to drive through the gate that someone apparently drove through as it was bent and lying across the entry. Walking up the garbage outside the entry was over flowing and piled up on the side. We were checked in by an unfriendly employee, no greeting, no welcome, nothing. We get to the room and wow, just wow. It was disgusting and only got worse the more you look around. Trash on the floors, scratches on EVERYTHING, patched ceilings and the topper you ask?! Semen! All over the bed skirt! We grabbed our stuff and headed back out. The front desk staff couldn't care less. No apology at all. The desk agent just kept looking at her computer screen. It has a drained pool with green water in the bottom of it,The toilets have rust in them, the snack room has expired snacks, the rooms are not well cleaned, rooms have mold, and insects, doors are broken, and the customer service is HORRIBLE! While the staff here seems to be very kind, this hotel is absolutely DISGUSTING and a MAJOR HEALTH HAZARD. I have stayed here for work on a few occasions unfortunately, but will no longer tolerate it considering the events of this stay. The rooms are covered in BLACK MOLD - all over ceilings, walls, lampshades etc. The carpet in the entire room was damp as was the bedding. The mattress had dry brown/ orange stains (possibly dry blood). The towels in the bathroom that were hung as if they were clean had brown bodily fluid and hair on them. It was absolutely disgusting. Now suffering from reactions to the mold. On top of all of that, I woke up this morning to my bags and personal items / work uniform covered in ANTS!!! Ants EVERYWHERE! We stayed at the crown plaza from November 8-November 15,2022 we're there for the National COGIC Convention the first one since Covid and the first time the conference came back to Memphis, Our first time at the convention and first time in Memphis and it was the worse trip ever! Day one we asked for extra towels and hangers never received hangers and towels came at 6p after asking at 9a, same day room didn't get cleaned asked front desk about it and there reply was rooms don't get cleaned on day one, Day two room still not cleaned safe handle was gone asked about the handle maintenance said none come with handle but the grooves for the handle to strew in was there ,go to use microwave no microwave plate just some dinner plate microwave was very dirty, our toilet was backing up water everywhere at 6 a called the front desk and was told maintenance don't come in till 8 a ok what r we suppose to do so they sent shuttle driver than he sent house man while we called back and we were told they didn't have a plunger man went an found one but didn't know how to plung a toilet we had to do it our selves. This was probably the shittiest hotel I've stayed at in the US. I will never stay here again. Here are the reasons why: 1. I happened to stay during a weekend where many pageant competitors were staying at the hotel. The elderly Black bellman opted to prioritize them over every other hotel guest. For example, I asked for help with my bags, but they refused to locate the 4 hotel carts that were scattered around the hotel floors. There was one being used to hang some dresses which could've been moved for the 5 min I needed the cart but they refused. The same bellman continued to provide prejudiced service my entire stay. He should he fired and needs to take the Harvard implicit bias test, which would probably show that he believes in white superiority and white beauty standards. 2. My room's bathroom was not completely clean. There was hair left in the sink, and the sink's drain didn't drain well. Also the door to my room didn't close well so day one and day out I had to shove my door open and closed. Several other rooms on my floor had the same problem. 3. The first day I stayed I asked for my room to be cleaned. I had gone directly to the front desk agent at 10am to request this. By the time I came back to my room at 5pm, it had been untouched. Luckily I ran into a lobby attendant who was very nice and said she'd come upstairs to clean my room right away. "Clean" is doing a lot of work in that last sentence - all she did was change the linens and empty my trash. She didn't wipe down any surfaces. Overall, the hotel is more a 2-star hotel and not 3-star. It's old AF and a lot of stuff needs to be fixed. Most of all, they need to fire the people currently working there and hire better people in order to improve the customer service. You're better off staying at the Sheraton across the street or one of the big chain hotels closer to downtown Memphis. read more

They fool you bc they have remolded the lobby but once you go upstairs... Its dirty. Our first room had dried urine on the seat in the bathroom We were moved to another room. It was dirty too. We took a shower in our socks. The plugs in the room didn't work and I can only image what was on the floor. The sheets were smelly, bed hard as a rock. Think twice before you stay here. This hotel has security issues. If you stay, make sure you have someone in the room at all time. One room had shoes stolen during stay and got them back at the front desk. You walk into the rooms and they are very dim and not well lit. (Now I know why) Both rooms were filthy. Grunge on the surface of everything, rotted wood by ac unit that was painted to hide the rot, most outlets don't work, ceiling in bathroom appears to be painted over when it gets moldy bc there is no ventilation. Hot showers don't exist here. You had to turn the water on and let it run for 5 minutes, sometimes longer, to warm it up. We had breakfast downstairs one morning and it was overcooked and cold. The waitress was damn rude. The plates were dirty. Would not reccomend. read more

First of all let me start out by saying the Crowne Plaza in Atlanta was wonderful, which is the reason for staying here. This one NOT so much. The 2 stars is because it was across the street from my event at the convention center. The room was small and could use an upgrade. The bathroom door wouldn't close without picking up on the door. The bathroom was really small. The hot water was lukewarm at best. The refrigerator was great it kept our water really cold. The beds were comfortable. The issue I had was with housekeeping. I got here on Thursday and my room WAS NOT CLEANED NOT ONE DAY WHILE HERE. The housekeeping in NONE EXISTENCE. THE 1st day there was a note stating they didn't clean because of personal items on the bed, that was a lie. And the least the maid could have done was take out the trash. NOPE AND SHE DIDNT EVEN LEAVE TRASH BAGS NOR TOWELS. When I called down to the desk, the receptionist was rude and told me they were gone for the day. And I would have to wait. Didn't offer to come get it or anything NO HELP!!!!!The second day she came in and said I need to go get towels again trash from day one still in my room with dirty towels. She NEVER CAME BACK. I went downstairs again, still NO HELP AND I HAD TO GO GET MY OWN TOWELS AND TRASH BAGS. With the cost of this room and parking I am also the maid.?. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. RUN. I only stayed one night and I came in late and woke up early. The bed was comfortable, the bar in the lobby stays open until 1am. The front desk clerk who checked me in was very friendly. There is a small workout room with enough cardio machines and nautilus equipment to get an adequate workout in. It's convenient to downtown and Beale Street, it's right off the freeway which is ideal for traveling. It's actually in walking distance to a lot of downtown if you don't mind walking. I didn't like the $22 a day parking fee, seems a bit much for a guest. The biggest issue with the hotel is the gates to the parking deck didn't work, so there was no level of safety or security for your vehicles. We are paying to park as guests but anyone can technically park here, they asked for the make and model of my car but the license plate or color wasn't taken. The rear door that is supposed to be card access only didn't work or wasn't active because you could just open the door and come in, you didn't need a card to go from floor to floor.
