Quesadillas at the hotel Cantina

In July great hotel stay with a splendid front desk staff. But at the Cantina my dinner ordered was serviced burnt, which I included on my receipt. My dinner was to include Vegetable, but none came with my plate. I was the only guest sitting there at the time. So it's not as though they were busy. So disappointed during my trip. No I would not recommended the hotel Cantina.

I've stayed here about 7 or 8 times in the last 5 years, and I personally love it. The neighborhood is sketchy so I definitely recommend, especially for solo female travelers such as myself, filling up and getting necessities in a different area, and simply stay at the hotel. There is a bar and restaurant onsite. And then after hours snack room (for purchase) if you check in late like I do. I'm a huge fan of a balcony in a hotel room so that's another plus for me. The customer service is always five stars, and the only reason I'm giving them four this time around is because I've noticed the cleanliness going down in my last two visits. Safe and solid hotel off the 40 when in need!

We recently stayed here with our little dog for eight days and would gladly do so again. The staff was friendly and accommodating - from Melissa and the front desk crew, the friendly security guard, the housekeepers and - most of all - the staff at the Stonestreet Grill where we had breakfast each morning. Tad and Ashley made our dining experiences there pure joy. The quality of the food - especially when Tad was cooking - was top notch. And Ashley always made sure there was a treat for our doggy, also. The reason why I have the hotel in general only four stars was because a lot of things were either broken (guest printer, elevator) or not available (no microwaves in rooms). But these minor inconveniences will not deter us from staying here again.

As a IHG Platinum member, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I received immense value with a 12th floor balcony view with two Queen beds. My queen bed was so comfy that I left my stay very rested. The cleanliness isn't a perfect 10. Housekeeping could dust a bit better especially on upper areas but this isn't a deal breaker for me because like I said, I came out very rested because my room was so comfy! I would rate the cleanliness an 8/10. Not bad considering this is an old hotel. My only critique is the other guests. This is clearly a no smoking hotel but ghetto people with no manners ruined this experience for me. I understand the hotel has no control on what other guests do but it is important to include in this review. Clearly, the location isn't the best because there's homeless roaming nearby but there are security guards on top of it so don't worry about safety. Overall, I'm satisfied for the value I received. Crown Plaza is not Marriot or Hilton which are higher tier hotels but it was a good stay overall. Definitely better than staying at a cheap Motel 6 invested with bugs. For the average person, it is perfect. It was so comfy with no bugs. There's no free breakfast unless you're a diamond member but it's fine. There's an Applebee's nearby like 5 min walking distance. There's Mily's breakfast. You can even drive to Frontier Restaurant because you're so close to UNM. If you're not from ABQ, the interior design is very southwest. It's perfect for those wanting to experience NM in a very reasonable budget. Pros: Great value! Room is very comfy. There's a fridge. This hotel has a lot of space. Location close to many restaurants. Free coffee. Cons: Location is so-so (ghetto but the majority of ABQ is) but you have security on it. No microwave. Gym is small. No free breakfast unless you're diamond member.

Stayed on the 5th floor.

My ex bought my kids and I a room for the night so we can stay in Albuquerque for my son's birthday and Father's day. This is honestly a nicer place than I'm used to staying at, so it was a nice get away for a night. Room was very nice and clean. Stayed on the 5th floor. They gave plenty of towels. The clock radio had extra electrical outlets and USB ports, which was nice. Decent selection of tv channels. AC worked a little too well, my daughter got a bit cold in the early morning hours and turning the knobs didn't make any change whatsoever. It's like the current setting was stuck. Shower curtains are those double cloth kind, hard to fit to the whole tub so it causes somewhat of a mess. My kids loved swimming in both pools. One indoor and one outdoor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Coffee was available in the lobby in the morning. Lots of drawer and closet space. Would stay here again if it's in my budget.

Large king room with seating area, nice room touches, clean.

We were originally booked at a hotel across the street and were alarmed at how bad it was, we walked across the street to Crowne plaza where Melissa at the front desk helped us. She was able to get us into a room right away and was so friendly and helpful, we were immediately put at ease. We would definitely stay here again especially with great staff like Melissa.

This hotel never fails in providing superb customer service. Front desk staff members are always friendly and treat everyone equally. After several visits even months apart, I was greeted with a smile and my first name. Not many receptionist have the ability to remember a person that way and it felt great knowing they take pride in what they do. So pay this place a visit.

I did not notice until I had finalized it that the date of the reservation was incorrectly entered to be the very evening that I was placing the reservation. I'm not sure how this error occurred, and as far as I'm concerned, how it happened is irrelevant. I called them immediately to inform them of the error, and to ask them to change the reservation to the date that I actually wanted, calling both the corporate 800 number, and the local reception desk. Both refused to help me, saying that changes in reservations must be made at least 72 hours prior to the anticipated arrival time. I pointed out that I only made the reservation three minutes ago, so meeting their 72 hour rule was obviously physically impossible. Now, I understand the reason for such a rule, and when it comes to a reservation made three months ago, or even three weeks ago, it seems perfectly reasonable. However, it is not reasonable for a reservation made three minutes ago. They were not persuaded, and refused to change the reservation for me. They made $200 from my innocent error. It's certainly my position that it would have been not only reasonable customer service, but wise business practice to help me correct my reservation error. It would have cost them absolutely nothing, and they would have kept my business and my good will. I wrote a review similar to this one on Google, and the owner, himself, answered me in a very nasty fashion, reminding me that it was 100% my error, and their 72 hour rule was clearly stated on their website, adding that I needed to accept responsibility for my errors, and stop blaming others. I would never stay here after being treated so rudely, and losing $200 to them. I encourage you to avoid them, as well. Their competitor, Hotel Mesa Albuquerque Midtown, offers nicer rooms and free car charging.

When we walked onto the patio and took in those sweeping views of the Sandias, I was ready to love this place. Los Poblanos has all the ingredients of a truly special dining experience: a gorgeous setting, a thoughtful farm-to-table ethos, and a menu that promises something above the ordinary. Which is exactly why the evening's annoying missteps were so disappointing. Service was well intentioned but unpolished. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and, at times, unfamiliar with the menu -- a problem when guests are asking genuine questions about the food and wine. We ordered bread which came before our drinks were served. Wine service was inconsistent. I ordered an Albariño by the glass - 6 oz. My sister ordered the Cabernet listed on the menu as a recommended pairing for her entrée, priced at $11. After we placed our drink orders, the waiter returned to inform her that the menu price was incorrect -- the wine was actually $18. She agreed to proceed. He then asked whether she wanted "a half glass or a full glass," which is an oddly imprecise question at a restaurant whose menu specifies pours in 3, 6, and 9 oz increments. She said half glass. What arrived was 3 oz of wine in a small serving carafe, which the waiter simply poured into her glass -- no bottle presented, no taste offered. My own Albariño, by contrast, was brought to the table in the bottle with a proper taste before pouring. The disparity in service between the two of us was striking. A simple, clear statement -- "3 oz of this wine is $18, not $11; would you still like it?" -- would have resolved everything cleanly. Instead, the vague "half or full glass" framing left my sister without the information she needed to make an informed choice. For what it's worth, the wine itself was extraordinarily tannic -- borderline undrinkable -- and I would have sent it back. My nephew ordered a top shelf whiskey. The waiter told him "we don't have that". My nephew said "it's on your menu" to which the waiter responded "oh, let me check on that". There seemed to be too many instances of the waiter running back to the bar to check on stuff. Anyway, it was available. The waiter apologized. We ordered the bread which was served before our drinks arrived. Food took about an hour which is fine - I don't have an issue with that but during that time we never saw the waiter again. I ordered the soup of the day - potato and leek which was delicious. Followed by the blackberry salad, which was my main course. Both arrived simultaneously, with the salad placed in front of me and the soup set to the side as an afterthought. At a restaurant at this price point, the expectation that soup precedes salad is not an eccentricity -- it is simply correct service. When I expressed my surprise, the servers seemed genuinely puzzled, which suggests this may be a training gap rather than an isolated incident. As for the salad itself -- it was pleasant, but pleasant is not enough here. The blackberry salad was the kind of thing you might enjoy at a well-run casual chain: competently assembled, inoffensive, and forgettable. At a farm-to-table restaurant with access to exceptional local ingredients, I expect the plate to reflect that -- more intentional presentation, more layered flavors, something that is more elevated than what was presented. This one didn't. The gap between the setting and what landed on the table was wider than it should have been. My sister and nephews ordered the filet mignon and rib eye. Both arrived pre-sliced -- a presentation trend that has made its way into fine dining, though one that divides opinion. My concern, beyond personal preference, is practical: sliced meat loses heat faster, and at roughly $80 per entrée, guests should receive their steak in the condition that best showcases it. The quality was good, not exceptional. Los Poblanos is a restaurant with genuine promise and a setting that few can match. The concept is right; the execution needs work. The issues I encountered -- inconsistent wine service, course sequencing, and a discombobulated waiter-- are not kitchen problems. They are fixable. I hope the restaurant takes that seriously, because the bones here are excellent and the experience should be too.

It does make it confusing when you bring in your own stuff, but I managed :) Staff here is great, accomodating and very friendly. What sells me on this place is the location. Situated on a golf course, the views are great and if are up early enough you can see the hot air balloons. The hotel is set back from the main street so for the most part, it's a very quiet area. (I say most part because you do get the occasional tee time announcement over the loud speaker but it wasn't bad). You are also close to a lot of restaurants and shopping. Getting into the city is also easy, maybe 20-30 minutes away. So... the real question. Would I stay here again? If I am traveling solo or with my wife, yes. As a family, probably not. I am not sure what other room styles they have but with no microwave and only a mini fridge, I need something larger for the family.
