I visited Crown Winery for the first time yesterday with friends, and it was fantastic! The space is beautiful, and the staff were incredibly friendly and inviting.​ They offer a wide range of drinks..dry to sweet wines, beer, and even wine slushies--so there's something for everyone. The wine slushies were my favorite! We enjoyed their flatbread-style pizza, which was a perfect size for two. Plus, you can bring your own snacks so thats a huge bonus; we brought a charcuterie board to share.​ It's also pet-friendly, which is a huge bonus! They prefer pets to stay outside, but if you're traveling solo or just popping in to grab a drink, you're welcome to bring your furry friend inside to order and not have to leave them alone! There was live music during our visit, adding to the lovely atmosphere. I only wish it were closer to Memphis so I could visit more often, but I'll definitely be back! read more

We absolutely had an amazing time here today. The rain held off the entire time so we were able to tour the vineyard as well. The $40 tour includea a tour of their winemaking area, bottling room, and vineyard. After the tour, we began the en guided tasting. We also purchased pizzas, cheese plates and wine slushy flights. As a souvenir, you receive a wine glass and t-shirt to take home. Staff: super helpful and friendly. They also helped capture photos of us as well. Location: the grounds are beautiful and very aesthetic for photo ops. Vineyard: lovely vines with plump grapes. I enjoyed the sampling as I love seeded grapes. This was my 2nd visit, and THE PIZZA was what pushed us back! Obviously the wine is awesome (Toast of Kings is a must-try), but my hubby has been talking about the pizza for 3 months!! Anyway, the service was good. We opted to purchase bottles and sit this time, but we did do a full tasting on our last visit. When I first pulled into the parking lot, I had to stop, look around, and take in the beauty of the buildings and the vineyard. I was greeted with smiles and a large variety of wine selections, Beer as well but 'I Drink Wine' (if you don't listen to Adele, you should! This is a good song to start with!) From the white, to the red, to the sweet, and the frozen, you can't go wrong with a wine flight to decide on your favorite. For me, it was the Blueberry wine as well as the cranberry frozen wine. I was able to make it to Second Sunday Brunch and could not leave a bite because every bite was delicious. The ambiance is the best, but it's the people there that make it the best. We came here while traveling through Tennessee as they appeared to have a good list of wines. Definitely a nice setting with a lot of vines on site. What we tried: Tiara - a sparkling wine - It was okay. Sole Mio - a blush wine - we both thought this was good White Muscadine - thought this was a very good muscadine. Our server definitely didn't speak highly of this one because of the banana flavoring, but I didn't get banana when having it. Cranberry rose - very good, a very flavorful rose. Cherry Jubilee - another one our server did not speak highly of, and it was just okay to me. Sweet Charity - a pomegranate wine - very good. Blackberry moscato - just okay, we've had much better blackberry wines. Peach moscato - very good, very peachy. Strawberry strut - their sweetest wine and you could tell; it was sweet! It was good though. Toast of Kings - a port wine with moonshine vs. brandy. It was a very good, smooth port. I was disappointed they didn't have the sangria wine to try, but we did get to try a mulled wine as well which was good. Overall, nice wines and would recommend if you are in the area. We left with a bottle of the peach and would have probably also left with a couple others, but we just have too much wine at home right now! Service was okay - our server was friendly, but seemed to really dislike some of the wines. My husband took me on a unexpected wine tasting today. We both love the little town of Humboldt and stumbling upon Crown Winery was a great treat. I liked Crown Winery, but I think how they handle their crowd is a bit chaotic. I feel that it would be easier if they have more staff onsite on the weekend. For example, when I was there with my grandmother, who was in her 90s, we sat waiting for our pizza for over 45 minutes. She did not drink, but I opted for a wine flight and bought a couple of bottles to bring home. My grandmother was sorely disappointed in the pizza, but frankly I just don't think she is used to wood fired pizza. I liked the pizza myself, but she said that it was overpriced. To each their own, right? I think if the staff didn't feel as overwhelmed as they were; they would have done much better with the crowd control. The server that came by us to check in said they had over 20 pizza orders. That sounds like to me that they should invest in another oven. Bottom line - Crown Winery isn't hurting for anything. They have a great following of people who really love this place. I am happy that their cute business is thriving. They have a great space, wonderful vineyard, and surprisingly it is a hopping spot for Humboldt. Plus, the wine is decent. Just get some more employees!!!! I hope more people will come to work for you as the pandemic lets up. I am sure that could be a huge factor in staffing as well. read more

If you're free, take a 80 mile trip to Humboldt to visit this winery. I went a month after grapes were harvested. So the vines were bare. Went on a tour and learned their process. Making wine is almost similar to making beer. Almost. Keyword almost. LOL! Cool taste testing. Tiara is my favorite. Also, they make pizza. Smart. Can't have wine without it. Arrived at 6:15, our reservation was made online and said to arrive anytime between 6-8. The lady confirmed our table upon arrival and showed us to our seat which was in the pavilion that had absolutely no A/C and ceiling fans barely moving. We went inside to get a drink and confirm the reservation for a pizza and waited for 30min as people were wanting to sample the wines. I really think they need to have a different area for that. I got the Peach Bellini slush; I knew that's what I wanted but when I asked what other flavors were available the girl at the counter didn't seem to have much knowledge about the selections. We made our selection on our pizza and wasn't told how long it would take for our pizza so we went to our table and waited in the "hot box" area. We noticed there were a lot of open tables in the open patio area where the band was playing and asked if we could move but she told us we had to wait until after 8; mind you it's 7:45 at this point. My husband went back in to ask about our pizza order and they told him it was looking to be an hour and half before they would get to our order. He told them we were just going to cancel the order but they did not honor a refund for our pizza and said they would just give our pizza to someone else. They really need a better plan in place for hot TN summer nights. read more

This place is absolutely gorgeous. It is pretty expensive (about $2000) and a tad small so keep that in mind. But it is so pretty. It looks like a hacieda in Mexico and has a beautiful balcony with ivy flowing down the stairwell. They also allow brides and wedding parties to take pictures here even if you are not having the reception here. read more

After the tasting was the tour. Taylor was our tour guide. He did a good job answering questions and explaining the whole process. The vineyard is beautiful. The new owners offered to honor the auction certificate that the previous owner refused to honor. They worked with me to set up a date for my group to do our wine tasting and tour that would work for the both of us. Bear in mind, they were in no way obligated to make good on this certificate as this was done by the previous owner. We arrived at the most lovely place you could imagine for being in a mostly rural area of Tennessee. We walked through, I drove my wheelchair, the door and was greeted by one of the most friendly host you could ever hope to acquire. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating to our party. Once everyone arrived, she and her partner took us through an unforgettable journey of the Crown Winery by tasting the wines and giving us the history of the vines, the grapes, and the previous owners. We all had cards to mark our favorite wines so that while we were taking the tour of the vineyard, they could get our order together. Well, there were only a couple of boxes that weren't checked, and we bought several of each bottle! The husband of one of one of our hosts, another owner, conducted the tour of the rest of the facility. Even though they are new owners, he Wes very knowledgeable as to what it takes to run a winery and vineyard. The tour was excellent and all had a great time and took a lot of pictures in the vineyard. They have a lot of events that we plan on attending in the future as they are very friendly and the wine, and they serve High Cotton Beer, is awesome, the atmosphere is inviting, and the surrounding are relaxing. read more

Went to their wine down event on a Friday night. We had never been before and didn't know what to expect. I had text a number posted on their instagram page to reserve a table over a month before the event and received the confirmation of my table. Upon arrival we were greeted but did not have a table reserved in our name. They mad arrangements for us to stay. After sitting at our table, we waited for over an hour for someone to come take our order; I asked if that was what we were to do and was told yes. We did try the Chardonel table wine which we really loved. The waitress admitted that it was the least popular of all the wines haha apparently they like their sweet wine in the south! We had our wedding here & cannot rave enough! Dawn and her team were fantastic every step of the way! The venue is stunning, the pictures just don't do it justice. The staff went out of their way to make sure everything was the way we wanted it. We did our rehearsal as a wine tasting and some folks had their pizza. Pizza was a life saver both on rehearsal & wedding day. Dawn even had all the makings for a mimosa bar for the bridesmaids and me while we got ready the morning of, I couldn't have asked for more from her and the team. Tucked away in Humboldt, TN lies a winery. My parents enjoy visiting local wineries. They enjoy the wine tastings, and they usually buy a glass and some wine. This time I happened to be with them. It's a little difficult to find, so we had to use the GPS. The outside is a nice rustic building. They offer tours, but we did not take one. There is a bar area, where a person can sample some of their wines. The girl who worked there was very knowledgable and offered us suggestions based upon our preferences. We were also given a menu of sorts to take notes on and to decide what we wanted to try. First, I tried the three red wines that were more dry and less sweet. They were all pretty good. I also tried the Tiara wine, which was sparkling. It was very good. I ended up buying Barrel-Aged Chardonel. It's similar to a Chardonnay. However, this one was aged in a barrel giving it a darker hue with more "smokey overtones." She said that it would be reminiscent of bourbon. This one was my favorite, and I liked the different taste of the wine. I also got their Sangria blend called Buck Naked. It's a "sweeter Sangria blend of Chambourcin and Muscadine with hints of ginger and lime." This place is a nice day trip from Memphis, so I recommend taking a visit. They have red wines, white wines, sparkling wines, speciality wines, and even a strawberry wine. read more

I attended the Wine Down event on a Friday night in June. I have to admit, I almost didn't go becuase when I called, the woman on the phone did not sound very warm and welcoming. But I went anyway...and I'm glad I did. The wine tasting is free, the food for purchase was really good and the live music was a lot of fun! It was great to go there after a long work week, buy a bottle of wine, and listen to music. I was surprised as to how many people were there...it was quite a scene! Overall, the event was great, the staff ended up being extremely friendly and I had a great time. The wine was ok, but the atmosphere made up for it. My only suggestion would be to do a nightly tour during the event. I drove over an hour from Memphis, so it would have been great to see more of Crown Winery. read more

Our party of 7 arrived at this winery in ample time to have a tasting and apparently there were events going on which had the manager in a less than happy mood. She spoke to the staff as if we were invisible saying "This isn't happening" and "They need to hurry up." We were celebrating my dad's birthday so her manners crapped all over our happy day. How is it our fault that you can't manage your venue? Plus she was chatting on her cell phone as we walked in. The staff who helped us during the tastings were so gracious and kind. The winery owner needs to get rid of this rude manager because sales were lost as we had bought several bottles at each winery we visited that day. Steer clear or call ahead to make sure you will be welcomed for tasting. Clearly you need to be clairvoyant because the sign outside indicated they were open to public. read more

Been to many wineries in my time and this is a flower about to blossom. Peter and his wife are very charming and made the whole experience fun and entertaining. The grounds were beautiful even in the winter. Just a short drive outside of Memphis. Can't wait till my next visit. Now let's talk about the wine! This guy is barrel aging. Amazing taste. I absolutely loved my experience at Crown winery. They had a solid arsenal of different wines, and the staff there were very helpful for a wine novice such as myself. They broke down the different flavors, asked what I like, and were able to give amazing suggestions. They even gave suggestions on what would pair well with what other drink. The staff is great, and knowledgeable. If you have free time on Friday evenings from 6 until 10 during warm weather, then check out their free event called Wine Down. Beautiful vineyard and winery. The tour was fantastic. The owners gave the tour. They took their time with both the tour and the tasting. You actually get to taste almost all of their wines (about 20). We were there for a little over 2 hours and tried the pizza before leaving. It was delicious! Great ambiance. My husband and I said it would be a great date night location if we lived in the area. We ended up joining their wine club and are looking forward to getting our first shipment in a few months! The tour guide was a really nice guy, but the tour itself was very uneventful and short. I would have liked to have seen more of the vineyard. The major problem was the wine itself. We tried about ten different ones and they all were terrible...and everyone around us agreed independently. I've been to a few vineyards and these guys do not know what they are doing...worst wine ever. Next, the t-shirts that were offered with the deal were extremely ugly and cheap...we didn't even want them even for free. Finally, and this was the icing on the cake, they wanted us to pay tax on the "free" wine glasses and t-shirts. When I asked "what if I didn't have any cash?" the owner quickly shrugged her shoulders and said it was out of her control. Worst experience ever and hopefully this isn't the first place people go for wine tasting, because it might turn them off to wine totally. read more

This place is great! We had the privilege of having the owner give is a guided tour. He is sweet and extremely funny, and his dog was an added bonus to have on the tour with us. He told us how they prune, pick, and make the wines. It was very interesting. We got to sample wines along the way, which was very enjoyable. Then when it came to sampling the wines, we got to sample the majority of them, which is always a good thing. Their wines are varied and very good, and I will defiantly be coming back.
