On our way out from the National Banana Pudding Festival we decided to stop by Grinder's Switch Winery. It's a nice little drive through the wooded back roads. This winery is hidden with greenery and trees and off the beaten path. We stepped inside the beautiful wooden house and found the homiest winery ever! It's small and quaint but that does not limit their selection! Their tasting is just $5, and you can try as many or as few wines as you'd like. I was so happy to find out that they have a tasting room in Nashville as well--can't wait to check it out at home! They have a wide variety of wines from dry to sweet, red to white, fruity flavors, and variations of grapes I had never even heard of. Of course I couldn't leave without checking in on my Yelp app--and you get a goodie if you do!

Grinder's Switch Winery offers plenty of outdoor seats to enjoy their products.

Nice winery an hour outside of Nashville. Nice rural setting with plenty of outdoor seats to enjoy their wine. (The place tends to have a wider selection of sweeter wines, but I enjoyed the dry Three-Eighty-Two red.) The shop also offers some cheese and crackers, so we made a small lunch in the Grinder's Switch gazebo.

This is the kind of place you'll want to come and stay a while. Nestled back in the woods at the end of a winding country road with fire pits, a barn and a cabin as the tasting room, it's the perfect fall in TN setting. Be prepared to make friends with the neighborhood dogs and try all the free samples you want!

I happened the be passing by when I saw a sign on the highway for a winery & decided to take a detour off my road trip & stumbled upon the sweetest log cabin tucked in a nook surrounded by trees. Once I walked in I was kindly & cheerfully greeted by a beautiful smile behind the counter where she offered me a wine tasting. I didn't catch her name, but she was incredibly knowledgeable of the wine list, the flavors & other elements that go into each sample I tasted. She gave me a coaster with the winery's information so I could have it delivered to my home across the state. In addition to her elegant rundown of each sample, she answered all my questions & more. She gave me a backstory on the place, how long it's been there & that the cabin was actually built & used while they were living upstairs. Obviously now that their precious hidden treasure is on the map, they've moved elsewhere & hired the perfect ladies to run their front of store. I'm impressed & will be ordering their Three-Eighty-Two Chambourcin often.

Wine with a side of charm. I was told by the great folks at the Wild Duck Soup Emporium in Centerville "Man, ya gotta ride by the Winery!" and so I did. I tasted wine and chatted with the friendly owner and truly enjoyed myself! The house where you do the tasting is very charming with a touch of modern style. I'm told they have blues music and other events that all sound well worth me making the trip back to visit and sip a little more Tennessee wine.

Our last stop on the South Central TN Wine Trail was super fun! I wish I had gotten the name of the lady serving us. She was hilarious and had us cracking up! She said she was a customer before she became an employee. She clearly loves the product and her enthusiasm is contagious. She had all sorts of fun suggestions. This one makes great sangria! This one is good on vanilla ice cream! Throw a couple frozen peach slices in this one and it keeps it nice and cold while you drink it! She was fantastic, showed us each label before she poured, The grounds here are very charming and bucolic. It's a lovely setting, I only wish you could see the vineyards while on the property. It's still very lovely, surrounded by trees. The tasting room is adorable as well. The wine: We liked some more than others, but all of them were drinkable. Here are the tasting comments I jotted down: Magnolla White - Spice Vidal Blanc - bright and floral Ivory Mist - the Cayuga grape which is from upstate NY Blondy - I gave this one two hearts which means I really liked it Switch Red - good, sophisticated Honeysuckle Rose - this one got a heart, "very many flavors" (this was the last winery of the day) Razzbury - heart! Marathon - a dark sweet read with a hint of elderberry, heart! Blackberry Express - heart! Lots of hearts which is shorthand for "delicious and I loved it". I also like that they give back to their community. $5 from every bottle sold of the Marathon wine goes to a local hospital. This should be at the top of your list for wine tasting in TN!

Beautiful 100 acre family owned estate. The view alone is well worth the drive. The inviting gazebo on the grounds calls out to grab a bottle of wine and sip and relax on a pretty day. The owners are Joey and Gail Chessor. Gail runs the store while Joey makes amazing wine. Their son Mick runs the vineyards and cooks amazing barbecue in competitions. Their daughter Jodie has her own blog with many great recipes at www.eatinonthecheap.com. I've been to most of the wineries in Tennessee and this is by far my favorite. The winemaker produces the best wine in the state. This is the only winery I've visited that I like every single wine they make. They have the perfect wine for everyone. Dry wines include a lightly oaked Chardonnay and three dry red wines. Sangiovese is a medium bodied wine with a hint of pepper that makes it perfect with spaghetti. Zephyr and Three-Eighty-Two are the two new dry red estate wines. These are my favorites even though my wine selection depends on the food I'm eating and my mood. For those that want in between sweet and dry there are two excellent choices. Ivory Mist is an off-dry white wine and River Blush is a semi-sweet blush wine. Both go very well with fish or chicken. Sweet wines include Blackberry Express, Honeysuckle Rose, Switch Red, Muscadine, and Blondy. You are sure to find something fantastic in one of these. Beginning in spring and continuing into autumn there are scheduled concerts. Grab a chair and drive on out for some wine and blues under the stars. There is usually barbecue for those that are hungry. What more could you want?

Everything about this winery is fantastic. Have been going for years to their winery and the satellite location in Nashville as well. The selection of wine is large with a great range from dry to sweet. My personal favorite wines are Three Eighty Two for dry and General I for sweet! This is a relaxing day trip to come, try the complimentary wine samples, and stay for a bottle with friends out back on the deck or in one of the many seating areas on property. They sell many cheeses and crackers so you are able to buy snacks to enjoy while there or to take home. The merchandise within the shop includes many local soaps, candles, and pottery as well as many other fun things. I could leave with a gift for someone every time I go. We joined their quarterly wine club years ago and have been in it ever since - you should ask about it because it will not disappoint!

Fun vineyard tucked away off the highway about 19 miles from Hurricane Mills, TN scenic route :-) The shop OS a cite log cabin tucked in the woods with several patios and gazebos to enjoy your selection. The wine is wonderful! No tannin (my happy place) because the age in metal barrels. We drank 1 glass with a yummy selection of Italian pesto cheese and sundries tomato crackers on the covered outdoor area joined by a sleepy kitty :) The location is cozy and peaceful. Wonderful area to relax, listen to nature and enjoy in the wooded scenery. We ended up buying 3 bottles: Magnolia White- slightly dry, light, fruity and absolutely delicious, Blond which is a little sweeter with notes of pear, apple and peach? Loved every drop! And Rassbury (red) which was rhe sweetest dessert wine filled with raspberry notes and delicious as well! My only regret is we didn't buy more as they were so enjoyable! Is not available in Alabama yet :-( I think I would consider a trip to TN just for their wines! The staff was fabulous and patiently answered questions and allowed us to enjoy tasting their prizes :) oh and of you love adorable corks~ they've got them! Cute cute cute tees and novelties in the shop - oh if I had more to spend I would have! You guys are wonderful! thank you for such a beautiful afternoon !

The last night there I decided to read through it, thinking to myself that we needed to make another trip through Tennessee to hit all of these cool places. Some we have already been to, but wouldn't mind going again. My husband being a HUGE Johnny Cash fan, I suggested we make a detour on our way home, just to fit Storytellers Hideaway Farm in. We were NOT disappointed. We both thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the house and the barn with all sorts of memorabilia. The highlight of the experience was the music and camaraderie with Johnny Cash's nephew, Mark Alan Cash. We could sit there and listen to him all day. We loved listening to the stories from his personal experiences with his uncle. If we ever get the chance to come back through here, we definitely will.

The parking was not great, but they do have street parking available and parking at the adjacent events center. The menu did not have prices nor did the beautiful baked goods, so we quickly found ourselves at $40 for two lunches and coffee. The Florida Greek salad dressing was SOO heavy on the vinegar and the half chicken salad was honestly fantastic, but I was thrown off by how small the half sandwich was. It was comparable to a finger sandwich you'd have with tea. I did appreciate they offered cucumber slices if you didn't want the chips that came with the 1/2 & 1/2. As for the coffee, my cold brew with almond and (house made) white chocolate was sub-par. I didn't even drink it as it tasted like something I'd make at home. The hot Americano was better, but also underwhelming. The staff were very friendly and the facility was spotless (notice the 100% health inspection). They did forget to give us the pastry we ordered. I highly recommend getting a different dessert (many options, but unlabeled) than the cinnamon roll in the evening as by then they are very dry. Overall, with a few tweaks, this cafe could be amazing. I would really like to get just a chicken salad next trip with a hot latte and maybe one of the individually wrapped desserts.
