Johnny Cash's formal dining room at his farm hideaway at Bon Aqua's Storytellers Hideaway Farm.
    Nate B.

Opened now post covid for tours on Saturdays from 10-2! It's difficult to describe the flood of emotions that was today's experience at Storytellers Hideaway Farm and Museum but honored, I believe, sums it up best. What Storytellers have created at Johnny Cash's farm house is nothing short of jaw dropping and awe inspiring. The home is exactly as I would have expected from Johnny. A little country, and little class and a lot of warmth. There is an aura throughout the property that just feels good. From the bottom of my heart thank you for taking the time to save this history and share it so we can experience the legacy of the Man In Black like no other place provides. At the "Little Stage", which is the museum where the tour starts, is filled with Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and one of the most unique Elvis exhibits I've seen with the deconstructed and reconstructed rooms from Elvis's manager Col. Tom Parkers house. Mark Alan Cash, Johnny nephew graced us with a few songs and stories of his uncle that were both heartfelt and joyful. It was a pleasure to meet him and he was more than gracious with his time, music, and passion for his families history in Bon Aqua. What Brian and Sally have created with help of Mark and Shelby Cash is a testament to their passion of preserving the history of one of the most culturally significant artists to ever grace this world. If you are passing through Nashville, I highly recommend leaving the tourist traps behind and visiting Bon Aqua Tennessee to the Storytellers Hideaway Farm to peek into the life and heart of Johnny Cash.

THE BEST EXPERIENCE! My husband and I brought our 17 yr old daughter and 20 yr old son to the Storyteller's Farm (our son is a MASSIVE Johnny Cash fan). In short, we came away completely impressed by the property, the memorabilia, and the stories! It truly feels like you're stepping into grandma and grandpa's house - authentic, unpretentious, super cozy, but oozing with the spirit of Johnny, June, and their families! It actually feels like you're just waiting for them to show up from being out of town - it's nearly indescribable! The owners of the property were out of town, but their friends, Patsy and Rodney, welcomed us in their stead and were incredibly hospitable! I'm telling you, it felt like we were visiting old friends - they were so warm, welcoming, and kind! We were given a generous tour with ample time in the home, the garage, and on the property! My favorite experience was our time with Mark (Mark Alan Cash is Johnny's nephew). He spoiled us with family stories, personal reflections, and a private concert that not only honored his uncle, but also showcased his own music (my personal request)! Our family was incredibly touched by his transparency, sincere love of family, and approachable demeanor. I can't say enough good things about him, but I highly recommend buying his CD/t-shirt and paying for ticket if he's ever singin' in your town! I wish more people knew about this little slice of heaven Johnny called, "the center of my universe!" It is a gorgeous piece of property with magical landscapes that could mesmerize the most cynical person. No matter how you feel about country music or Johnny Cash, you'll walk away from this experience humbled and grateful - we sure did!

Such an amazing spot 45 mins outside of Nashville. My boyfriends brother and sister-in-law have lived in Bon Aqua for a few years now and never knew this place existed but after my boyfriend and I came back after spending most of our afternoon at the museum and Hide Away Farm they can't wait to check it out! What a beautiful way of capturing everything Johnny Cash loved; music, his family and country living. I especially loved the intimacy of the show we got the day we went, meeting Johnny's nephew Mark Alan Cash was a true pleasure! What a talented artist, him and Rachel Dawson are, they were wonderful to spend the afternoon with! The Hide Away Farm was just beautiful and it felt like hanging out at a friends house the way we were invited to just watch never before seen family videos and walk about the home and farm as long as we wanted. No wonder Johnny Cash loved that property so much, it's absolutely breath taking. I was staying in Bon Aqua but if I was in Nashville the 45 minute drive would be worth it. It was definitely the best $25 "tour" of our trip!! We can't wait to come back!

    Beautiful and peaceful place.

A must see when visiting Tennessee!! We drove here from Memphis and were completely blown away! We had gone to the Johnny Cash museum after visiting this farm and the museum has nothing on this place. There is nothing like spending time in a place the man himself used as a place to get away from it all. We met with Johnny Cash's nephew who himself is a very talented artist. It was incredible to listen to his personal stories with Johnny. Everyone that runs this place really cares and are so welcoming and friendly. It felt like we were visiting family. Storytellers is so much more than just a museum. Do not miss this!!

One of a kind place, the genuine hideaway home and love for Johnny Cash is the place to visit if you love Johnny Cash. You know the saying, there's no place like home. You will walk into the world of Johnny, and decompress from commercial museum tour into the real life of Johnny. Our family took my dad there for his 80th birthday - grand kids and all. We loved the time and hospitality of Johnny's nephew and daughter and current owners the husband / wife who preserve the homestead and Storyteller's stage. A respite, a rest from Nashville commercialization, a story told with love, song and living by those who knew Johnny or studied the man and his life. You see his Bible, walk into his home, his leather jacket, his chair, his cars, you feel the man, his love second only to his family, song writing, singing and God. Truly you feel what Johnny said - the hideaway was the center of his universe on earth. We will always remember Story Tellers with fond sincere love as a moment in time when heaven touches earth through the heart of Johnny Cash.

Johnny Cash farm house in Bon Aqua "the center of his universe"

This is a MUST MUST MUST see in Bon Aqua Tennessee!! (Close to Nashville) There are no words to describe this experience. So unique & one of a kind. Not only do you get to be where Johnny was & see his amazing farmhouse but you get to meet Mark Alan Cash and hear his amazing music and meet his awesome wife. You start in the museum & hear some great music then go to the farmhouse with Brian & Sally and see Johnny's "graceland" and see the one piece at a time Cadillac. The nicest folks you'll ever meet! We feel like we were hanging out with old friends! I Can not stress how INCREDIBLE this VIP tour was! A must for any Johnny cash/ Elvis or any music fan. Worth every penny!! So personal & priceless. Not commercial/ touristy or a stuffy museum. Everything is hands on. So peaceful & serene. We will definitely be going back! Couldn't ask for a better day.

This museum is the best we've ever been to! It's like Graceland, but hands-on. You're able to touch history and be a part of it. We met the entire staff and owners; they could not have been nicer or more accommodating! I'm a big Johnny Cash fan... this was an incredible experience. Such a great time!

My hubby and I moved to the Burns area back in April, and we have visited the museum and farm not once, not twice, but three times now (well, four if you count that we went back after our first visit for the show that evening)! That's how much we love it! The first time, it was just the two of us...the second time, we took my mom (who was visiting from northern Washington state), and last weekend we took my sister and her husband (who were visiting from Seattle). Each visit turns out to be more memorable than the last, and we will definitely be back. It's been mentioned in other reviews, but these folks really do make you feel at home; we could sit and listen to Mark tell family stories all day long...and the best part of all is getting to hear Mark and Rachel sing (and possibly tell some corny jokes)! The museum and the farmhouse are full of not only amazing memorabilia, but also a tangible spirit of love, faith and family...this should definitely be a spot for folks visiting the Nashville area, but it's also a treasure for our local community. Get out to Bon Aqua...it'll make your heart smile!

Johnny Cash's nephew, Mark Cash, sang and played the guitar while sharing stories about his uncle, that was a real highlight of our trip here. Visiting the farm where Johnny and June lived was also a nice addition to the visit, giving us an idea of the place and space that Johnny Cash called the center of his universe. My husband said this tour was his favorite part of our trip to the Nashville area. Can't recommend this enough, especially to meet Mark and hear his wonderful songs and storytelling.

Such a cool place! Thank God someone had the insight to save this historical place! The museum and farm was so well restored and it is a must see for all! Thank you all for your hospitality and warm welcome. I will be back!

One Piece at a Time car

We were visiting Nashville from California and we heard about this place from a friend back home. This place was great! Very intimate setting on Johnny Cash's estate. His nephew, Mark Cash, runs the place and does hourly concerts and talks with the group about Johnny. He came up to my BF and I and got to know us a bit and told us great stories about growing up with Uncle Johnny. It's less of a museum and more of a large exhibit with Cash memorablilia...including the One Piece at a Time car. Up the road from "The Little Stage" is Johnny Cash's home and property. Compared to the large hoopla of Graceland, this place is much more personal and intimate in the best way. It's a hidden gem that is worth a visit for any music fan!

We ended up at the Lotz House Museum, and it turned out to be one of those unexpectedly memorable experiences. On this particular day, we lucked out with Chuck as our guide. He is a former high school history professor, and you can tell immediately. He does not just recite facts, he brings everything to life with stories, details, and just the right amount of drama. The house itself is not large, but that almost works in its favor. Between the stories of the Lotz family and the vivid accounts of the Battle of Franklin happening right outside, you can practically see it all unfolding as you move from room to room. It is the kind of experience that sticks with you long after you leave, and at around seventeen dollars, it feels like an absolute steal. And do not skip the gift shop. We stopped at the Welcome Center but they weren't offering any wagon tours on the day we visited. So, we took a look around the shop instead. I bought a spiral wind spinner but nothing else appealed to me, mostly looked like donations. Some things were hand made but overall, it felt like it was more of a Goodwill than anything. It was cluttered and unorganized. My grandma and aunt wanted to use the restrooms on site but said they were extremely dirty and decided to use a local gas station's instead. The Amish are very nice people but there are rules. Don't take photos of them, some believe it takes their souls and others believe it expresses individualism. If you aren't Amish, be prepared to have people staring at you and the kids are not supposed to talk to anyone unless making a sale. Overall, everything was affordable and during our drive around, we purchased some peanut brittle, jams, and jarred veggies. Just bring cash, of course. It would be nice to come back and take a wagon tour but it also feels weird that our modern-day culture sees the Amish as some sort of entertainment. So, I'm very indifferent about this experience.
