There is a subway and sports bar right next store as well as a gas station. The hotel offers free continental breakfast in the mornings and the rooms are not far at all from where you walk in. The walls are thin so if you have loud neighbors you can hear everything. Also the bathroom sink drain was slow to drain. The housekeepers (3 of them) came in to service our room in the morning before 10am and when we asked them to come back later the one girl was extremely rude and said she wouldn't be coming back later but the other one said they would. I work in a large resort on the strip in Las Vegas and this service would not suffice where I work. Those are the only negatives. I would stay here again to save money and beat the traffic again on a busy football weekend!

A 3 night stay became 2 as we had to shorten our visit. Nobody at Best Western or the staff at the…read morehotel advised us they were having a new roof put on. We booked their suite online. We needed space for family to visit at different times, to rest, and to work, while we also came and went. On the 2nd floor. On day #2 roofers worked for 10+ hours, after setting up their debris slide and trailer outside our window at 7 AM. There were other issues. The hotel does not have a working ice machine. They do provide the standard hotel ice bucket however. A toilet was sitting outside our window. The bathroom had cleanliness issues, as well as torn wallpaper revealing green mold on the wall. The A/C units in hotel rooms are usually noisy, this one also squeaked, and setting it to a specific hot or cold temperature wasn't possible. There was a disabled thermostat on the wall, below a hole in the wall with the detector framing that had housed an old smoke detector. If you're hoping for a pool it has been out of service for some time. This was a $190/night suite. The armchair in the bedroom area had stains on both sides of the cushion. There was a decorative basket full of balls, on the coffee table. Some of them were unraveled or broken apart. The freezer in the refrigerator was full of frost, barely useful. The 2 newer televisions were nice, there was still some protective plastic wrapping on the frame of one of them, but turning them on to watch local news, etc. wasn't possible using the channel guide many hotels provide. We think it was outdated, not sure, we used tabs and cells after a while. Bath sink drained. Toilet flushed properly, shower had adequate water pressure and temp. Laundry bag, ironing board, and hangers. (The closet door sticks.) The exterior of the building and surrounding property was in a state of construction. We had a handicapped traveler but all of the handicapped parking spaces were blocked off. The owner has a 2nd property in Reedsville. We passed it by car, no construction. It's less than 10 miles away. We could have been referred there to begin with while this property updates. We understand not wanting to lose cash flow by closing during construction, but unless guests are warned at the time of booking the hotel probably should've been closed. Referrals to the other property would've been simpler than our packing and moving again after a long drive. The staff members likely work too many jobs at once, but they still need customer relations training. There's a giant, colorful, stone duck out front. The roofer was outside taking selfies with it. He said it would look great in ads he was planning. They have an annual festival in Milroy involving ducks. An otherwise bucolic setting in the mountains. Lots of Amish horses and buggies. In the middle of nowhere so lodging is limited. We requested a refund, and received a lengthy apology email after submitting the 1st negative review.

I lined the seat with toilet paper to feel somewhat sanitary while using it. Thinking that I was overreacting, maybe what I saw on the seat was stains that couldn't be removed, I lightly rubbed one area of the seat and whatever it was was lifting. So, the toilet obviously wasn't cleaned between customers. The shower didn't look clean either and it also had hair in it. The bed had hair in it. There was barely any toilet paper available. I called the front desk asking for more and told her about the condition of the toilet. I will say that she ran up very quickly to deliver tp. The towels were not steal-worthy as their sign indicates. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. The hotel is located off of 322. There was no sound insulation. We were kept up by truck traffic. Some positives. The shower was large and had useable shelves. Three body towels were provided, not the standard two. The person at the front desk in the morning offered some money off of our rate the next morning or additional points. As stated before, the person who brought the toilet paper up the night before sprinted to our room. The cons just outweighed the pros.

It had a bit of a funky smell and there was tape on the ceiling over a crack that was unsightly. The complimentary breakfast was plentiful and nothing was out of stock that we knew of. She knew this was our wedding night so she had arranged some roses, chocolates, mints, and a card for us that was a very special touch in our room. She refused to take a tip and instead we will donate it to a local animal shelter in her name. If all hotel/motel chains had staff like her, they can make an average room into a memorable stay.

The staff is very friendly and the price can't be beat. I mean really, you won't find a cheaper place to stay in the area. It seemed secure enough and there was a refrigerator to keep drinks and snacks cool with. That's a real plus on a long stay. I would say that the staff works hard to make the rooms clean and presentable. The place could use renovations like new windows and carpets, but for what they charge and the good service they provide, I'm a fan of this little hotel. I stayed here because my boss likes to save money, but I'd stay there again of my own accord. Nice folks and reasonable accommodations. I could have stayed somewhere else for 100 bucks more per night, but I'm not really into paying that much extra for a stale breakfast, newer bedding, and a cookie on my bed. I prefer a place like this that is fairly priced, efficient, friendly, and not pompous. Also, they have smoking rooms and I bet they'll let pets stay too. There may be an extra fee though.

My concern is not that the hotel allows pets--it's the lack of cleanliness throughout the property. I am staying in Room 209, and upon arrival, the floors had not been swept, and there was hair throughout the bathroom. The entire second floor has a strong odor of dog urine and feces. Even more concerning, I observed what appeared to be pet urine and feces in the common areas, extending from the dining area through the lobby and hallways. This is completely unacceptable for any hotel. If my room were not prepaid, I would be checking out immediately and booking a room at a Marriott property. I will also be sharing this experience on multiple hotel review sites because travelers deserve to know the conditions before booking. I do want to make it clear that this review is not a reflection of the front desk associate, Ale. She was professional, kind, and very accommodating. When I requested a broom and room spray because of the condition of my room, she happily provided both, and I returned them shortly afterward. Ale provided excellent customer service despite the hotel's housekeeping and cleanliness issues.

Rooms were good sized and very clean- as were all areas of the establishment: Common areas, hallways etc. Bed was comfy, and the hot water was hot - without having to wait forever. Perfect. In the morning, they offer what I would say is one of the best free breakfasts I've had in quite some time. Coffee was not only hot, but tasted very good - a rare find these days. The hot offerings changed daily and pretty much every dietary preference was covered in some fashion. the folks doing kitchen duty were obviously very dedicated to their jobs, and it showed. Round it all out with an indoor pool and fitness center as well as a small outdoor patio seating area, and you have a very good place to unwind after a long day of meetings or whatever it is that brings you to town. Overall a wonderful experience and I would absolutely use this location again if back in the area.

Ember, the friendly and accommodating front desk agent, checked us in. He is the sole reason this hotel is receiving a 3-star rating. Upon check-in, he greeted me warmly. However, upon reaching our room, we discovered it was a king bed instead of the two double beds we had booked. We had paid for two double beds, and the switch was jarring. I went downstairs to complain to Ember, who immediately apologized. He explained that they were overbooked and had no double beds left, so they had given us a king bed. He offered to bring us a rollaway bed, which he did. Despite the inconvenience, Ember's remorse and willingness to make amends made us not demand a refund for the extra cost. As we headed downstairs for dinner, we overheard another family in the foyer complaining about the same issue. Ember was apologizing and offering them a rollaway bed as well. This is the first hotel I have ever been to that switched up a room without notification. That is so wrong!
