All I can say is....wow! It's such a beautiful place. We are close to juniata river and under sin shade trees. The property is gorgeous. The staff are soooo kind and helpful! I mean I have called for everything and anything and sooo many times! Each time, they are polite, friendly and kind. Ryan is more than helpful, friendly and way kind! He has the perfect personality for the job and has a great sense of humor. He could have gotten irritated at me for calling so much but never did! My husband even said don't call him again, but when I did he was genuinely kind and helpful! He delivered our Amazon delivery right to our campsite. We were thinking we would have to go get it. Then, stood here and talked to us a few minutes. Even joked about how I wrote the wrong campsite number on the delivery. 365 verses 356! Lol. These people are real gems. We are walkers. Every morning. Got some great exercise, long walks on some back roads and doing some ceramics and bingo today. You can take a tube and a shuttle and ride the juniata! Plus some great miniature golf! Can't say enough good things about this place. The only thing is, it's hard to get a reservation but don't give up, it's worth it. I can tell you this...it is our first time here and it won't be our last. We will be back every year for sure!

There may be a better commercial campground somewhere. But, we have yet to find it. The owners/hosts and staff are welcoming and gracious. We especially like the river camping area. There's fishing, boating, and in season river rafting. pool, playgrounds, dog park, peddle cart rental, golf cart rental and lots more. The landscaping is beautiful and meticulously maintained. And, there are always spectacular seasonal displays (see some fall pics).

Really nice campground. Well manicured sites. Plenty of space. Lots of activities for the kids.

One of the best camp grounds we have been to. Kids love it and it is real relaxing for adults. Staff is friendly and facilities are great.

One of the best campgrounds around, especially if you utilize the river. (We always go floating down it in tubs).

She put me at ease when she said that her tent sites were still available! I immediately booked 3 sites. Fast forward to arrival 5/22/15. As you can see, the tent sites are across the canal from the hustle, bustle, dust and noise of the RV'ers (no offense intended) in what is truly a grove. The space is very large and, because sunlight can still get through the trees, the ground is covered with...wait for it....grass! Not your standard Rv hook up site that doubles as a tent site with a gravel plot. The grove was large, we could put our tents just about anywhere, could move the fire ring around to get a different vantage, etc. So, all that to say that the tent site grove is awesome. Bath house: One should always come with low expectations esp on Mem Day weekend. As with the tent grove, I was very pleasantly surprised. There is a hard, plastic, grid type array on the floor so no walking on the tile (for those who forget flip flops this is very well received). Coin operated showers? Yes and I love the idea! First, it helps defray some cost and, at .25 per 12-15 minutes, c'mon, stop your griping. Second, it moves the stragglers along. The Mem Day community at W'side was generally very quiet. We did not have 1 instance of late night craziness. The town has a DQ which was a great distraction. We took advantage of the proximity to PSU, visited and went to the Creamery. See their website for the other things to do in and outside the grounds. Be warned....the railroad does run right along the northern part above the tent grove and, it is close. You will believe the train is coming right at you. But once you get used to this it becomes white noise. 5 Stars! We'll be back.

There are 18 rustic campsites, with water fountains/spigots, non-flush toilets, picnic tables, and grills available for campers and day use visitors. There are garbage cans available, but it is advised that you pack out your trash if possible. The roads leading into and out of the park are unpaved and are not plowed in the winter. Four wheel drive is not necessary to get there, but if you drive a car that is low to the ground be aware that the trip up will not be the smoothest. We spent a long weekend here in mid October, and while there were a few other couples and families camping on Fri/Sat night, on Sunday we were completely alone. It was isolated and a little creepy, but ultimately it was really nice to be away from civilization! Rangers drive through a couple times of day. There are some nice trails, lots of wildlife (keep your food in your car, if you don't want to be visited by foxes and coyotes in the middle of the night) streams, and a pond that is stocked for fishing. It is a nice, quiet place to kick back & enjoy the outdoors. I am really looking forward to visiting again!

For almost ten years, my family has had an annual canoe/kayak trip and we used "J.R.A." to do it!…read moreEvery year that we've gone, J.R.A. and its employees, have always made it a fun and exciting experience! I remember one year, we actually spent a little too much time at the rope swing and our group didn't start getting back to the docks until after 9:30p.m.. The last two canoes didn't make it until almost 10:15!!! Although the J.R.A. employees were rightfully irritated that they had to stay an hour and a half past closing time, they were very professional and handled it very well! Considering 75% of my group was very drunk, I was extremely surprised at how the night ended, especially knowing how my family can be after a long and exhausting day in the sun and alcohol in their guts! As for the people that wrote a review stating that "Nobody told us we had to pay??" It's a business, not a nonprofit organization..... Not sure where the hard part in comprehending that is but like they say, common sense isn't so common any more I guess... But then, to go on to the part where you thought you would try to get over on J.R.A. and its employees and just grab a canoe and go without paying, that there cuts the cake for sure!!!! You said that him sending an employee to tell you that the boss was going to have your vehicle towed was out of spite?? You're damn lucky he didn't just have it towed, and called the cops! You would've shit your pants coming off the docks and seeing you're vehicle hooked up and an officer there with handcuffs waiting for you! Just so you know, what you had attempted to do is theft! And as for your horrible attempt at writing a bad review, that backfired as well, because after anyone with half a brain reads it, they'll realize just how big of a piece of trash you are and disregard it, probably also noting on how you wasted your time!!!!

When it comes to fishing, trout is sought after! After day-time activities you can cool of at the sand beach located on the lake. Around that area they have pagodas and barbecues that are great for picnicking! They also have a playground with multiple slides for the kids! During the winter time, they also have plenty of activities including snowmobiling, sledding and ice skating!
