When we booked we read the ad carefully and the only note about needing a 4x4 was that it may be needed in the winter--but we visited in the summer so this should not have been an issue. This was definitely misleading which lead to a lot of stress and frustration getting to the cabin. Seems there may have been a lot of rain that week. It's about 25 miles on a dirt road off the I-17 which took us about 90 minutes, then once in the town of crown king the cabin itself it up some very narrow and treacherous roads. I would absolutely NOT recommend you come unless you have a 4x4 or extensive experience driving in this type of terrain. We had a non 4x4 truck and struggled hard. Don't even think about it in a sedan.

I requested the reservation to be cancelled since our timeline was not suitable for her and she hung up on me. when I called back, she declined the call with an automated message. do not recommend anyone wasting money on this place.

We rented the cabin by the stream (there is no stream unless it happens to be raining). Showed up in our sedan and she gave us directions on how to get to the cabin. Leaving the 'office' I high centered my car, but was able to keep going. When we got near the cabin, there was absolutely no way we could get to it without getting the car high centered and stuck. She knew damn well that would be the case if we tried. So, I ask myself, why would she not warn us of that potential outcome? I have my guesses as to the arrangements she has with the half dozen full time residents in the encampment that is Crown King. Anyway, I had enough and told her we were leaving because the cabin wasn't accessible without a high profile vehicle. She then told me a high profile vehicle is recommended in the rental agreement. It's not. This is an extremely remote location with one way in, and one way out, on a 30+ mile dirt road with sections of mountain switchbacks. There's apparently one resident that cooks on Fridays and Saturdays (if he fells like it) where you can eat, so bring food. They are intentionally taking advantage of city slickers like me (I grew up in a town with one traffic signal and railroad tracks down our Main Street) who are foolish enough to look at their website and think 'that looks like a nice little place to stay.'

The house is absolutely gorgeous...I really don't think the word cabin gives it justice...and it felt like our home away from home. It's easy to find, close enough to town to run in for something quick (like Starbucks), but in a completely residential area so that it's quiet and you really feel like you've escaped the city life. Every detail is thought of. We had plenty of extra blankets (beds were comfortable), the fireplace is easy to use, we utilized the grill each day we were there, there were a few games at the house, and we aren't even wine lovers but enjoyed the special welcome. You'll see! :) I would recommend the house for both groups of friends, and families, of all ages. Sitting on the deck staring into the trees was a real treat. We can't wait to go back!

There five choices of places to rent from. Some are either 2 or 3 bedrooms. These places are beautiful! We stayed in Gamble Oak which is a two story, three bedroom cabin with a wraparound balcony. There was a fire pit for an evening campfire (supplied with precut wood) and plenty of spots around it to go for a hike or a bike ride. The living room was nice and spacious with large windows so you can soak in plenty of nature. They had plenty of pots, pans, dishes and cups you can use. If you are in need of entertainment, we had both Netflix and Hulu choices along with pretty decent Wifi. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely make a return visit. The only issue was the 3 mile dirt road leading up to the cabins. It can be pretty bumpy for a smaller car. Spruce Mtn rentals are very pet friendly and require a small deposit fee.

We arrived…read moreearly on 4/9, at about noon and decided to check if the place would be available for us earlier than the 3pm standard. It was! The door key code worked without a problem. We were welcomed by a spotless room with the fresh Jerome wind blowing through the windows. Restroom was fully stocked and super clean. We had a microwave, min fridge and coffee maker. We were pleasantly surprised with two wine glasses as well as a ticket for a free sandwich at the Hilltop Deli (delicious stacked sandwich place with AMAZING view of Jerome). I highly recommend staying here. You can tell the owners take pride in their home as well as in the town. We were extremely pleased and have absolutely no complaints. Some places to check out: Haunted Hamburger for mouthwatering margaritas and burgers (veggie options available), Flat Iron Cafe for your breakfast coffee fix, Caduceus Cellars for rich & divine wine and small bites (top of the line customer service by all staff members) and the Jerome State Park for a fun and educational presentation on the old copper mining town. I highly recommend putting on your comfortable walking shoes and taking a walk around the town. Explore and take lots of photos. Jerome is a breathtaking town with many kindhearted residents.

We had the whole floor to ourselves and a balcony overlooking Jerome and Sedona! There was a coffee maker with fresh coffee beans to grind with the provided grinder. Refrigerator, Microwave, couch, loveseat, dining room table, huge comfortable clean bed. The loft has huge windows around it so you have a spectacular view from most sides! My husband and I can't wait to come back and stay! We travel a lot and this is on our top 3 stays!!!! Thank you!
