I purchased a certified 2020 BMW with low mileage from Crown BMW in 2024. While I was initially excited about the vehicle, my experience with the finance process has left me feeling deceived and extremely disappointed. During financing, the finance manager, Luke, strongly encouraged me to purchase several add-ons, including tire coverage, paint/chip protection, and a service plan. The way the service plan was presented made it seem like I was purchasing meaningful extended coverage that would protect me down the road. I paid around $1,000 believing this plan would actually provide long-term value and support. Now that I've tried to use the service, I've discovered it was essentially only a one-year package. That was not clearly explained to me at the time of purchase. Had the terms been explained honestly and transparently, I likely would have made a different decision. Customers should not leave a dealership confused about what they paid for, especially after spending significant money on additional products. I strongly encourage anyone purchasing from this dealership to slow down, ask detailed questions, and get every coverage term clearly outlined in writing before agreeing to additional packages. read more

PSA Notice - Just for informational purposes! Just a little context; I'm not your typical auto purchaser, as I've owned many cars and currently own a fleet of them, you can say I'm an "enthusiast!". Most of my purchases have been out-of-state, so you can say my experience extends mostly from the detailed-level of research I do prior to a purchase. With that said, I've dealt with both good & bad dealerships. This one in particular started off decent, I only say that as they attempted to charge me for someone else's already pre-configured and/or purchased "ceramic coating / tint install", which failed to work on me as I'm no newbie. Fast forward.. we (Chelsea ) closed the deal in the end (they got paid) and now getting to the point of this PSA. It's been about 30 days since purchase and they (some dumbass just woke up) reached out about some missing paperwork they failed to request during closing, which leaves me with NO PLATES! Hence stars! As tags, titling and/or state taxes haven't been paid by them. My advice: give that person a broom ! Take this info as YOU will, but if someone had posted this sorta review in regard to this dealership's titling process - it would have made me second guess my decision to purchase from them. I am having recall service being performed on my 328i Convertible at this location and the service center said it would take over the weekend. After I got home, a sales person called me and said that they were interested in my car and asked if I would entertain an offer. I agreed and made an appointment. When I showed for that appointment, my wife and I drove an hour to get there, I was only offered to trade for a new one. I asked about the offer to buy as the sales person on the phone represented. They replied that since I didn't want to trade, the offer was $100! since they would have to send it to auction. I rate this dealership at one star because I drove so far for a false representation. Current BMW owner. By far the most disappointing dealership I've ever encountered. If you are interested in purchasing a BMW in Greensboro, I would not suggest going to BMW of Greensboro. Take your chances somewhere else! I visited the dealership on 8/14 to take a look at the blue 2015 428i they have for sale but then I returned on 08/15 to test drive, in hopes of that leading to a purchase. The sales rep that I was paired with (who knew absolutely nothing about BMW's) brought the car around so that I could take it for a drive. First of all, I couldn't even touch the inside door handle without a thick black grease getting on my hand, which is something that I pointed out to the sales rep on 8/14 when looking at the car. As I am driving, we heard a pretty loud noise coming from the top of the car whenever I would accelerate AND as I was pulling back into the dealership after about a 15 min drive, there was a grinding noise coming from the driver's side front tire, or in that area, when braking. They pulled the car in and "looked" at it. As this is happening, I'm waiting in the sales reps office, wasn't even offered a drink. He sat in front of the computer and did not say a word to me. It was a very awkward situation. I expressed my frustration to him and there was nothing. I got up and went outside. Sales manager Mike came out and said some "pin" was loose and that they would fix it. I asked him what pin or if he could provide any detail and he couldn't even tell me! They lowered the price online though. BMW is supposed to be a luxury dealership. There is NOTHING luxury about this place. How are y'all going to put a beautiful car like that on the lot KNOWING it wasn't right! The customer service was trash. Wasn't even offered a bottle of water!! I had two very bad experiences: We had our BMW i3 for a small repair at BMW of Greensboro. They "found" and additional damage and gave us an estimate to repair same for $3,400. I had a second party look it over and they found that Firestone put on the wrong size tires in the front and rotated the rims (which are different front and rear). How can BMW mechanics not see that? The next time we took the BMW i3 in because the engine light went on. We dropped it on Monday morning. They estimated max 24 hours to give us feedback. By Friday noon they still did not finish the analysis. They never contacted us that it would take longer. Did not even call back when I called. We picked up the car and took it to a more capable shop. The BMW manager Todd was supposed to call me to discuss my dissatisfaction. Of course he did not. read more

Working with Perry Barclay (Sales Advisor) and Jim Hodges (General Sales Manager) - https://www.bmwofgreensboro.com/dealership/staff.htm, I've had the worst car buying experience by far at this dealership. During negotiations, they were readily available and very responsive to email enquiries. I finally negotiated a deal for one of their pre-owned vehicles. Since the dealership was a couple hours away, I asked Jim and Perry multiple times through email and phone if the car had any notable interior/exterior scratches. I finally got a response from Perry that it was all just normal wear and tear. I came to their dealership the next evening after trusting that any notable cosmetic issues would have been mentioned in our email and phone correspondences. While there, we also had the dealership update the car purchase contract to include a second set of vehicle keys. When I got home the next day, the vehicle was inspected more closely in good light for any cosmetic defects. I brought a couple of note-worthy issues to their attention, which included multiple deep scratches on the passenger side front window and driver side rear passenger window, deep scratches across the rear cargo left area, and driver side dent and paint damage. I sent an email to Jim and Perry with photos for reference to determine any reimbursement costs. Since this vehicle would be our daily driver that would transport our two small children, I also explained my fear that these deep scratches would weaken the window's integrity and possibly result in a severe glass break while they were inside the vehicle. After waiting 4 days with no response, I sent a follow up email asking about the second set of keys and provided shop estimates for the above defects. After no response, I called the dealership and was transferred to Jim's voice mail yet again to leave a message. During this period, the dealership also cashed my car payment check. After waiting 6 days with no response, I sent a follow up email asking about the car title, second set of keys, and any reimbursement for the glass, rear cargo area, and dent/paint damage. Based on my experience, it looks like this dealership could careless about customer satisfaction or even the well being of my family's safety. I went ahead and filed a complaint with BMW of North America since BMW of Greensboro has now cashed my check but has not acknowledged their car purchase contract along with their extremely poor customer service. I've had my BMW's serviced here since 2002 and have always found the service department to be first class in all respects. My latest visit was not up to the standards I know Crown strives for. I had an appointment for 9:15 and arrived at 9:05. I sat in line for over twenty minutes before anyone approached me. I was directed to the waiting room until my assigned agent was ready for me. After another fifteen minutes or more, I found someone to help me. While trying to find help, several employees walked by me without so much as a nod, much less a "Hello". A "Do you need help?" would have been greatly appreciated. Very poor customer service. Finally, my assigned guy checked in my car. I received a text very shortly after leaving the dealership that should I have any questions to call xxx-xxx-xxxx. Mid afternoon, having not heard anything about my car's status, I called to check on it and was told I needed a brake job. I declined their kind offer opting to get a second opinion. When I went to pick up my car there were two employees, "service agents" standing by a desk talking. I waited patiently while they continued to ignore me. Finally, I found another employee, probably a salesman, to help me. He interrupted the two conversationalists and one of them secured my key, took me to my car, and sent me on my way. Over the past 17 years I've never had this poor of an experience here and hope that it won't be repeated on future visits. This experience was a 1 Star. On Wednesday, July 5th I came to your location to test drive a 2016 Toyota Highlander. Bryan Matthews was my contact there, and he was very helpful and made it a pretty good experience. I ended up deciding to purchase the vehicle, and by the end of the night had signed all the paperwork and left with the plan to come back and pick it up once it had been detailed. On July 10th I was notified that it was ready for pick up. When I arrived to pick the vehicle up, Bryan informed me that he felt like the detail department could have done a better job, and showed me some places on the undercarriage of the passenger side that was missed. He wanted them to go back over it, however I had left work (my boss gave me a ride) to come pick it up and couldn't wait. He offered to arrange for me to bring it back to have it detailed, but I never took him up on it since I don't live in Greensboro. I overlooked the fact that on top of what he saw with what detailing missed, there was an extreme amount of dog hair located on the side of both the driver and front passenger seat between the seat and center console. Also the spring hinges on the black glass are practically orange from either dirt or rust, another miss in the detailing. On August 9th I was contacted by Jason at the BMW place to let me know that the paperwork I signed on July 5th was done incorrectly and I would need to come back to redo all of it. The upside was that I was getting a better rate, and it would delay my car payment by a month. I came in on August 11th and completed this. At this time I asked Jason about my 30 day tags since they were up... he stated that I should be ok, but keep the paperwork with me just to be safe and that the license plate should arrive quickly. On September 18th I called your dealership to inquire about my tags, because at this point I still do not have a license plate. Instead I am driving around with a 30 day tag that was placed on the car on July 5th. The person in the finance department that I spoke to took my information and said that they would look into this and call me back. On September 19th I called back because I had heard nothing back, left another message. On September 22nd I called and asked to speak to a manager. I was put in touch with a Brian, who I was told was a general manager. He stated that obviously something wasn't right and needed to be taken care of. He wanted to speak with a Karen and promised to call me back before the day was over. That did not happen. I called on September 25, spoke to a lady at switchboard, explained my situation. She passed on the message, making it urgent. No one contacted me. I called on 6 different occasions on September 27th, speaking to different people, including the same lady at the switchboard. I also spoke to a sale person. They both assured me they would give him a message that I was called and that it was urgent. I am writing this email on September 29th, I have yet to hear from anyone. This is a week after being told I would hear something by the end of the 22nd. At this time, I am still without a license plate for a car I purchased from your dealership on July 5th. I have also been informed by my insurance that they have been unable to provide coverage for this vehicle to the NC Department of Motor Vehicles. I am tired of being ignored. I do not understand why it is so difficult to simply take care of getting this process completed. You didn't hesitate when it came to processing the down payment, however your management has chosen to ignore a customer, refusing to communicate what the problem is, and has not provided any solution. It is sad that this is how your dealership chooses to operate and treat those who chose to purchase a vehicle from your dealership. I hope that soon someone from this dealership will choose to do the right thing and get this matter taken care of. I'm here for an oil change on my car...no one greeted me, had to ask for help; Even though I have an appointment.. Spoke with the manager, he was very apologetic and courteous. Hopefully my wait time is no more than one hour. I will say that even though this is a BMW dealership and naturally you would expect high prices. Some things are pricey, but most services are moderately priced. At the end of the day, they do try to work with you. Super clean facility, Covid restrictions are in place. I mentioned I needed to go to Sam's Club and they offered the shuttle driver to take me there.I love that you get a specific person to work with you and your car each time; So that person remembers what your car's history. read more

I took my 640i in for its last service before the warranty expired and was told that my battery was almost dead. Because a battery isn't covered I called my BMW independent mechanic (Carr Industries) where I've had all of my BMWs serviced for the past 15 years. Their charge for replacing the battery was almost 1/2 the quote from the dealership. Carr checked my battery and there was nothing wrong with it. Shame on Crown BMW. I purchased my third BMW (~20k miles, good service history, local trade-in) from Crown BMW. I had a great experience on the front end (sales) with Jusin Loe. He's a great guy to work with and is a straight shooter. I had a motorcycle to trade-in and received a very fair deal overall. I wasn't looking for a bargain, I was buying from a franchise dealership to get a low mileage car that was "a known quantity" Let's just say that it wasn't quite what it was "cracked" up to be. I "met the dealer in the middle" and was very satisfied with the outcome in the end, but getting to that point took a lot more work/hassle and time than it should have been, especially from a BMWNA dealer. The lesson I've learned here is that if you buy from Crown you can't make any assumptions about the condition of the vehicle, regardless of what their website/marketing material may say. Get a pre-purchase inspection from a third party who specializes in european cars. Make sure you check the paint as well - all the usual tricks are employed here (99% sure that some scratches/chips (down to primer) were filled with color matched wax - which came off in a few car washes). No joke - the BMW I purchased with 20k on the odometer has more paint wear/scratches/issues than a truck that I have with less than 200k on the clock. My first service came due and I was looking for two things - an oil change, and to ensure that all modules/etc were up to date (software/firmware wise). I had hoped to use Crown BMW for service as the car had been serviced there regularly prior to my purchase. I decided to call around to check pricing and do some Q&A, as I've had extremely poor service experiences with Crown Honda. I ended up at a competing dealership in Winston-Salem as a result of my calls. The level of knowledge and experience of the service advisors at the Winston dealer was like night and day vs Crown and the other three BMW dealers in NC/VA that I called. The service work was also completed for less than half of what Crown quoted. read more

My family and I traveled from Boston to NC to move our son in to college for his freshman year. We drove with all of his belongings to move in to his dorm. The morning of our scheduled move in we went to get in to our hybrid vehicle and found the car was completely dead. Crown BMW and it's service team absolutely saved the day!! Long story short, 2 battery replacements later, packed up loaner car and a huge amount of help and effort on the part of Crown BMW's service department we were on our way to get our son moved in for his first year of college. I took my car in just for a diagnostic.... they've had my car for 3 days already... everytime I call nobody answers or returns my calls or voicemails. nobody even when made me aware that they would even keep my car over night for a "check up".... here it is going on 4 days later and still nobody has an answer for when it's going to be done.... this is poor service and I do not recommend them. I bought my 5 series here at the beginning of the year. Mr. Weaver and Perry worked very hard to find my dream car at an affordable price. Brad was also able to help me on the financing side. Since then, I have had an oil change, new rims, coil pack, and a grill upgrade. Every time the service team would promptly assist me and make sure I was served as quickly/efficiently as possible. Due to the COVID, they have applied strict rules for their employees (examples: gloves, masks, hand sanitizer, social distancing, etc) and always make sure your car is sanitized before returning it back to you. I would not purchase a car from crown again. They are not customer oriented at all. In addition, when I purchased my car in 2017, I purchased what I was told was a Extended Warranty, and now it's called a "service contract" and of course you can't cancel that, at least not in NC. I will be writing the Governor about that...if South Carolina can look out for consumers by allowing them to cancel the service contract disguised as an "extended warranty", then NC should protect their consumers also! I still cannot find the document I signed...hoping they have a copy at BMW corporate. Terrible Service, I Went To Get My Brake light fixed payed almost 300 dollars & then 3 days later my brake light is back out. Service Advisor Chris Underw Did Not listen to anything I said & just did what he felt was good. Ding Shield is a Rip Off. Don't waste your money on the Ding Shield dealer extra. The only body damage they fix is on a clean, straight panel they can pop out. I went in twice and the first time BMW body shop fixed it at their cost. That was nice. I paid $995 for a coverage on my X1 that seems to have a lot of exceptions. The only thing they can fix on the body is paintless dent removal. But, it can't be on any area that has a fold of any kind. It's a rip off and I wouldn't buy it. read more

I purchased my X5 from Joe Adams at Crown BMW in August 2020 after a several week search to find a BMW with the features I was looking for. I had to travel from out of state to pick up the car and I was unfamiliar with the Crown network of dealerships. When I inquired about the vehicle over the internet I was told it had features that it in fact didn't have, so be particularly cautious if you are trusting this dealership to be honest in representing the car if you are not in person. I actually did not end up purchasing the car I drove to purchase since it was lacking the promised features. They did have another vehicle on the lot that did have my required features but it also had some features I did not want that upped the price - like crystal knobs, leather dash, but I inquired anyway. Although the dishonesty on the initial vehicle should have clued me in to their business practices, I did end up buying a car that I now wish I had not. Joe was particularly combative and rude, almost comically so, but we ended up at an agreeable price. Even after agreeing on a price, we went round and round on if the new vehicle I was purchasing met the BMW requirement for special financing. It did, but I had to pull up their website to "prove them that it's real" which is a technique Joe used throughout negotiations. While everyone should go educated about the car they are buying, at Crown BMW even knowing all I could about the car Joe tried to gaslight me to make me believe that "my car" wasn't eligible for that discount/special/option. That old adage of what a car used salesperson is like, Joe fit the bill to a T. At one point, I told him I would leave if he kept talking to my mother and me as if we were idiots. Also, despite the state COVID regulations in place for wearing masks, Joe couldn't seem to keep his mask on, so there we were wearing our mask but Joe not. Every other BMW dealership we visited had strict COVID regulations, just goes to show the mentality at Crown BMW I guess. I am an executive in the Tech industry and deal with OEM (old entitled men) occasionally, but Joe took the cake in this front. Funny enough, after I did in fact purchase the car, he told me he was sorry for the bad behavior but it was the culture of this dealership, one that his managers required and had no intentions of changing. An afterthought that is notable, every single BMW dealership (or any dealership for that matter) I have been to the sales manager comes out and introduces themselves and ask if they can be of assistance or if I had a good experience, not here at Crown BMW. In fact, by the time I finished paperwork it was only Joe and I left in the dealership, the managers had left. Then when they pulled my car around from service, it was missing the floor and cargo mats. Joe told the service person to "just find any mats" since he couldn't find the ones for my vehicle. They didn't however find a cargo mat and I left with Joe promising to "mail it to me right away". You can imagine how that has gone. Two months now of texts back and forth to which Joe has stopped responding. Joe says his managers won't allow him to send me my cargo mat despite the promise to do so. I believe Joe treated me badly because I am a woman, and because Joe believes this is acceptable car dealership behavior. Honestly, Joe and Crown BMW took all joy out of buying a BMW. I have never been treated so badly in car buying except when I bought my first new car at age 18 from a back roads SC dealership where I was called "honey" and "sugar" and I was too young and dumb to know better. Please stay away from this dealership, a BMW should be an enjoyable purchase experience where the dealership stands behind promises and delivers good service. So many dealerships have moved to a transparent buying experience. That isn't what Crown BMW seems to be in business to do. read more

May2018 I did end up receiving a refund for the diagnostic fee. Pretty happy about that. I received a follow up call from Eric asking me to come back for the next appointment. So I added a star back. I did end up dropping the X3 off to crown. I hope it's fixed to my liking when I arrive back in town. If it is I will update again and possibly add a star back . What a difference a few years makes. Crown use to be a good place to take your vehicle. When my advisor left, I had to find a new one. No one really cared as much as he did. I tried giving the new advisors $50 gift certificates and techs $50 gift certificates for taking extra care of my car. Didn't matter. I've been avoiding this place and only waiting until there are so many issues that I go for one visit a year. This year I had a list of 10 items. None were written down as I wrote them . Only 2 were , and in the way the advisor wanted. Charged 135$ an hour and found nothing. Also charged me for a brake flush but tried to hand the car back the next day even though I knew the fluid was still dark. ( I test drove it the Friday I left and checked) Made them do it after my 10 day vacation. They could find absolutely "nothing" , and I paid and left angry and waited for their survey review since I picked up after hours. Took it somewhere else and they addressed all the issues and found the ones that could be covered. Oil leaks that Crown BMW couldn't see with $135/hr trained techs. Bad suspension components they couldn't put their hands on to replicate the knocking, but other mechanics could after 15 min check. Would they ever refund the money they took? Oh yeah also charged me $44 in shop supplies. WOW that is a lot of shop towels for a brake flush. Not even what the document states 15% of labor cost. ( since you can't do the math that would be $26 according to my labor total. ) Also forgot to mention that crown calls for buying their extended warranty / sends mail for extended warranty. Why would I buy your expensive warranty when you won't even fix it when I currently have one? Forgot a compliment to the shuttle driver who is a very nice guy.
