Got a pizza last night, Italian sausage and cheese. It was burnt on the top and was the worst pizza we have had in a long time.

It's a cute little spot with classic car photos all over the walls and that old-school 50's diner vibe that just feels right for a morning meal. Our server was Katie, friendly and efficient. My wife and I both ordered the 2-2-2 -- two eggs cooked to order, two meats, and two pancakes. She went with scrambled eggs and bacon, I chose over-easy eggs and sausage patties. She mentioned the bacon was a little on the salty side, but I really enjoyed my sausage patties -- good flavor and cooked just right. The pancakes were the star of the show. Light, fluffy, and huge -- like small hubcaps taking over the plate. The only thing that would've made them better would be whipped butter and warm syrup. That little extra touch would have taken them over the top. Portion sizes were generous for sure, but the price caught me off guard. We both drank water and our total came to $31 for breakfast. As a former chef, I know breakfast is one of the most cost-effective meals to produce -- it's usually the best money-maker for restaurants. While the portions were solid and the food was good, the price point gives me pause. I'd come back for the hearty portions and those fluffy pancakes, but the pricing might make me think twice. 4 stars -- had to deduct one for value.

We stopped around 11:45am and it just opened not long before, so it was quiet with few people there. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. We were seated immediately and had a table by the windows overlooking the lake. What a great spot on a sunny day! My dad ordered the Reuben sandwich, but asked for no sauerkraut, he loves a good Corned Beef sandwich. It was done really well and he loved it. He had the homemade chips as well which complimented the meal perfectly. I had their special, a Mahi strip basket. It came with a generous amount of Mahi Mahi and fries. It was super tasty. If I were coming through the city of Howey in the Hills, FL, again, I'd stop here for sure for another meal. They had a decent selection of apps, entrees and sandwiches/burgers, it would be the same thing. They also have an outdoor patio I'd love to try on a hot spring/summer eve. If you're in the neighborhood, I'd tell you go here and try it out!

All food orders were served timely, so everyone could eat together. Some enjoyed the bar menu and all enjoyed the food. I had the Fish Fry, which was great fried fish without the heavy, greasy coating. Fish was great. Corn fritters were a good compliment and well cooked. Others with me enjoyed the beef stroganoff, shrimp and grits, shrimp po boy and meatloaf meal. I would recommend improving on the po boy, as the toppings were a bit slim for the bread. My husband and daughter said it was good, but that was my observation (see photo below). No other suggestions for the food, and we all agreed we would go back as this was a great place. Service was excellent and they were very accommodating for a large party. Side note-a menu suggestion if you add items at any time would be adding an amazing fish sandwich.

I've eaten a thousand of these and although all aren't created equal most are constructed in a similar manner and this little wagon does it as good as any. Corn tortillas (freshly prepared ones are always best but most are commercially processed and packaged so unless you an aficionado of tortillas the store bought ones are fine). I chose the steak and chicken (asada and pollo) added raw onion and cilantro, a squeeze of fresh lime and some flavorful hot sauce - these three tacos seemed to evaporate in mere seconds, they are small but they also are very reasonable priced. I'm definitely reevaluating my lunch choices before my next visit here. I think a sampling is in order for my return trip (how did I not order beef cheeks). No matter which ones you choose order enough and don't forget too tip. If you eat these in... One Bite - you've entered a contest. Two Bites - it's been a few days since you've eaten. Three Bites - you skipped breakfast. Four Bites - you feel a little rushed. Five Bites - you put just enough hot sauce on it.
