Very pleased with the presentation given by the folks at Crowes Nest Farm to educate the folks in our area about wildlife and helping the children ace their state mandated tests! All the animals are rescued and kept their for their own health and safety that run off of donations, sponsors, and special events to keep afloat. My favorites are the birds of prey! We had a blast on one of our homeschool group field trips! We loved learning about how farms milk cows, riding the wagon around the property, and=] our favorite part was feeding all sorts of animals and walking the ample grounds and seeing how well taken care of the animals were! The alpacas were especially hilarious and the geese were quite the thing to witness as they hissed.... This is one of our favorite farms and will be sure to visit again! read more

I have been going to Crowe's nest farm with my kindergarten students for about 18 years. It was founded by a former teacher and principal Diane Crowe. It is just the right size for a field trip for littles. I recommend the oldest age would be kindergarten or first grade. It's not just a place for field trips. You can head to the farm with your own littles/family. It is great to go during the fall but my favorite time to go is the spring. There are typically little babies around the farm. Who can resist a baby goat or pig? I know I can't!! read more

Went in on a whim on a weekend without the research and was extremely satisfied with what we saw. Found out it's a non profit with friendly farmers and workers who take really good care of the farm animals. We saw goats, sheep, cows, turkeys, emus, geese, reptiles, amphibians, miniature ponies, horses, and various other domestic livestock. There's a whole bunch of live demonstrations ranging from milking cows to special animal shows. You can take Hayrides that take visitors to see bisons and ostriches. For some extra bucks, you can ride horses! In addition to animals, they had flower, vegetable, and herb gardens by the entrance. They also have fall festival activities/ pumpkin patches during the weekends all throughout October. Admission is admittedly kinda high. However, they had a terrible 2020 and most of 2021 as they make most of their revenue from school field trips which didn't happen in these years. And all the funds go towards maintaining the farm! On the plus side, children 2 and under are free. We were only there for a little over an hour and didn't do most of the things they offer other than see the farm animals. We will certainly come back more prepared to explore and see all the offerings and get our money's worth sometime in the future! It was perfect for my 4 year old! He loved it! We went in October. There was a Barrel train, longhorns, different breeds of goats, alpacas, different breeds of pigs, piglets, chickens, tortoises, different bird species, ostrich, hay ride, bison, horses, ponies, cows, educational cow milking demonstration, animal feeding, reptile show, pumpkin patch, live children's music, picnic area with a small vendor (hot dogs, ice cream, cookies, cupcakes, candy, chips, sodas, juice, water, popcorn), gift shop will awesome stuff, you can purchase fresh eggs and seeds are sold here. There is lots of shade in the picnic area. There was horse shoes lawn game and some blaster activity. We enjoyed it on a nice day. read more

This is the opposite of the Austin Zoo. You leave wheeling good about the fat, sweet, happy, well-cared for animals. There are also scientific presentations about birds of prey, snakes, cow milking, and more, at least every hour. The drive out is quick and easy. And feeding the animals is stress free: they are really gentle and tickle your hands as they eat the grains. There are horse rides and hay rides, and they're open 11-5 several Saturdays and Sundays in October and November for their Fall Fest. Definitely check this place out for a safe, covid-free, outdoor, affordable and fun adventure with kids of all ages. The nonprofit is missing out on tens of thousands of visiting school kids and would love to see you! read more

This place is so great. All of the workers were SO friendly; you can tell they really take pride in the farm, animals, and what they do. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept, with lush gardens, plants, and little fairytale and fable gardens and figurines everywhere. The place is so well spaced out, we often felt like we had it all to ourselves. On to the activities! We went for the fall festival, and there was so much to do!!! We spent almost 3 hours with two 2-year olds. It's $1 to buy a cup of animal feed, and there are goats, sheep and llamas all around! Also, pigs, mini horses and donkeys, birds, cows, reptiles, etc. On the hay ride we saw an ostrich and an American Bison!! We watched a cow get milked and even rode a horse for $3. Yes, my 2-year old rode it all by himself; the workers are that professional and they knew exactly which horses to use for the little guys. Oh, and pumpkins all around for purchase and tons of great photo ops! Also, all kids get a free train ride! Such a fun day filled with so many activities. We were so happy to be able to support this farm, especially since they have lost 90% of their revenue with COVID - no school field trips. I went with my little one last week and we had so much fun! The gentleman was so kind when we purchased our ticket and food cup to feed the goats and sheep. The gentleman that presented the milking and gave us a hayride and tour was awesome! He had great energy and made the tour fun and interesting. Crowe's anesthesia Farm is a cute farm with fun animals. We went here on a Kindergarten field trip and the outing was full of furry and scaly creatures. The kids had a ball feeding the animals and experiencing the atmosphere. The kindergarteners attention span was short and they lost interest in some of the presentations but overall it was a success. read more

Farmer Chris was very rude during the milking cow demonstration. Specifically, stated to a kindergarten class, who were sitting on the bleachers, waiting "You are showing me, you don't want to share this farm with others. I told you before coming in here there was going to be another class. (He told a single volunteer who was on way to bathroom supporting a student) YOU NEED TO MOVE TO THE SIDE! (farmer Chris did not indicate which way to move, and students were trying to move in different directions while being yelled at) YOU ARE BEING RUDE TO THE OTHER CLASS! MOVE! Keep moving, MOVE!" Unfortunately, this could have been resolved by farmer Chris indicating specifically which section of bleachers to sit, as we walked in. Or by giving more direction to chaperones and teacher when it was not spaced way he expected in a kind respectful manner Instead he choose the latter. He chose to yell, humiliate and shame a group of kindergarteners for sitting on the back row to allow the other class coming in to sit in the front. Changing the dynamic from a perfect feild trip to one I personally rather not repeat. Which is unfortunate as the premise is an Educational farm. The thing I took away, Farmer Chris is emotionally unregulated, unclear in communication and yells at 6 year olds instead of modeling kindness and respect. read more

Perfect size farm to visit with young kids. We stayed for about 2 hours but there were a couple things we didn't do. You can buy some pellets to feed the goats and you can also pay for a kids horse ride. There was also a small pumpkin patch at the entrance. The kids went on a barrel ride and we all went on a hay ride. So many different animals and lots of space for them to roam. The employees were very informative and cheerful. Would love to come back again some time. read more

It isn't just a regular farm but also a wildlife sanctuary, so you'llsee more than farm animals. Aside from the animals they have different gardens you can visit. Amazing gem about 25 minutes outside of Austin/Round Rock. We have had 2 birthday parties here, 3 years apart and they were both effortless. The fam handles the flow beautifully, keeps kids of all ages engaged, gives you an awesome, large party room (with electric outlets if you need them!) and it's already got cute table cloths and is ready to go. They are with you all through your party and really make it special for the children. Their daily admission is very reasonable and would be a great place to take your kids for a fun day! This is a wonderful place! It's a sanctuary for all kinds of animals: raptors, farm animals, reptiles. The setting is basically rolling prairie with a few trees. The whole place has good signs clearly telling us what we were looking at, as one would expect from the founder who was in elementary education for her whole career. It was a beautiful day and we loved just being able to stroll around, feed the goats, llamas and sheep, watch the milking demonstration and go on the hayride. The grounds and enclosures are so well kept and the animals (mostly rescues) are well cared for. My grandson really had a great time and so did we. read more

Eee aye eee aye oh! This is a working farm that is usually just open to school field trips during the week. But, they do have family day on some weekends which is perfect for the little ones or the kid in you. Learn about cow milking and take a hayride out to see the land and the animals on the farm then take a walking tour of the farm which includes a vast array of farm animals and a few exotic animals as well. We took a trip here yesterday with our moms group and we had a great time! The farm is beautiful and well-maintained. We took a hayride and saw ostriches and bison. We watched a cow milking demonstration. Inside the barn we saw snakes and turtles and spiders. There was a peacock roaming around on the grounds. All of the guides/ presenters were farmers that work there and they seemed very knowledgeable. They had organic squash, eggplant, etc for sale that they had just picked. They have lots of animals to look at, from emus and llamas to pigs and chickens. I like their cute children's storybook themed gardens with things like Charlotte's Web, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, and others. We have been here 3 times now and have always been impressed with the cleanliness of the grounds and the professionalism of the staff. It's a hidden gem...not many people have heard of it. A friend that went yesterday has lived in Austin for 5 years and had never heard of it. A lot of elementary schools and such take trips here, but I went with just a mom's group of about 15 people. I think it's great for 3 and 4 year olds too. read more

Great activity for a toddler. We took my 3 year old here for her birthday and were able to see how to milk a cow, took a hayride to see bison and an ostrich, and walked the farm to feed the other animals. Visiting Crowes Nest with my husband and 3 year old was a delight - There was So much to see on the farm and it had so many more animals than I was expecting! You can tell the owners really care about the farm and it's well-maintained and clean. The cow milking demo was really interesting and the free hay ride was so fun! Had a great time at Crowe's Nest today. It was one of the more realistic farms we have been to since I was a kid. They had a great selection and the animals were so well groomed. The Raptor show at 2pm was AWESOME!!! The Falconer and his wife came up from Last Chance Forever Bird of Prey Conservancy in San Antonio. What a treat. They had a bald eagle at the end and it is one of the coolest animals I have ever seen. It was so big and took my breath away. We will be sure to come back soon. read more

This is such a fun place! The animals are well taken care of and the people who work there are clearly passionate about their jobs and the animals. We were with six kids and all had a blast. You pay the entrance fee and can watch a cow get milked and go on a hay ride for free. There is also food for a very small fee that you can feed the animals. I would highly recommend supporting this place! We will be back! read more

Animals were awesome, however, the pumpkin patch element leaves much to be desired. Discovered "grown in Oklahoma" sticker on the pumpkins. That would have been fine, except when we got home to carve the pumpkins, sadly, they were rotten on the inside. Uncarveable, messy, and disappointing. Don't rely on this for a pumpkin patch in the fall, but it was a great trip otherwise, and the animals appear to be very well cared for. read more

My 4yr old son and I visited Crowe's Nest for the first time today. We were absolutely blown away!  Tickled by every adorable animal friend we met.  Enchanted by the beautiful grounds, the statues, the gnomes, every natural nook and outdoor cranny.  Educated on so many wonderful facts, with mirth and humor by our delightful hayride guide. As two vegans, we were particularly touched by how healthy and well taken care of every animal on the farm appeared, how clean and spacious the cages were, and how lovingly, respectfully, and naturally they milk/care for Bessie, Hershey and their nursing and weaned calves. Thank you for creating a true sanctuary, for both the animals and us humans, Crowe's Nest. We'll be back again and again! read more

While visiting Austin from out of state, my husband and I were looking for a fun place to take our young grandkids during spring break. We found Crowe's Nest Farm online and drove 35 minutes to get there. What a delightful place!! Owned by a former educator, there are more than 250 animals and a wide variety of species for kids to see, from ladybugs to tortoises; reptiles to bison. Exhibits were clean and well marked. We bought feed at the entrance and our 7-yr-old delighted in feeding the goats, pigs, sheep, chickens, and more. We took our time, were there about two hours, and saw all the exhibits. (Our grandson could have stayed all day.) Even our 11 month old was captivated from her stroller. We completed our visit with a delightful (and free) hayride. Restrooms were clean. Masks were required. Plenty of parking. Light snacks, drinks, and gifts were available for purchase. We will be starting a new tradition-taking our grandkids there every time we come to Austin. My husband and I took our grandkids, ages 2 and 4 here on a cloudy Tuesday morning. What a fantastic experience! We fed the goats, sheep and llamas. Enjoyed owls, turtles, falcons, ( we missed the reptile section, we plan to go back) cows, ponies, donkeys, pigs, ostriches and bison. There are " fairy" gardens with lots to look at for all of us. The staff were warm and welcoming. The kids were fascinated with the milking and the narrative was interesting and just the right amount of "science" for all of us. The hay ride was fun and had the feel of an "adventure " into the wild, yet totally safe and well timed. Our grandkids talked about " the farm" non stop. We will definitely be back, a hidden gem so close to austin, an easy drive. read more

My visit to this educational Farm was part of Orion's (my 6 yr old) Field Trip. Keep in mind that I was surrounded by 100 or so Kindergarteners. We arrived at the farm which is just outside Austin to the East in a quaint town of Manor. (May-Ner). $6 for adults, Kids were paid by the school, but I think they were $3... dont quote me... The farm is focused on education, and farm related activities. There is a hay ride, which shows off the farms Ostriches and Buffalo. There is a Dairy Barn, where Framer Chris told us about the process of getting milk from the cows to the fridge. Farmer Joyce told us about the snakes and insects and amphibians. There is a great walking trail that passes by the Fairie Woods, the children's Story Garden, and the section of the farm that houses other mammals and pigs. All in all the farm is well organized, fun, and educational. Great for kids. read more

We absolutely loved this place!!! A wonderful visit from out of town. We would seriously go every month (or more) if we lived closer! They care so much for the land and animals. Beautiful to see the animals they have rescued and care for. The milking demo was pretty cool. The potbelly mini pig was ridiculously adorable to hear snorting happily as she ate. We visited this great family-run farm on a school field trip. We enjoyed a fun little tour of the farm on a hay ride and they also gave us a lesson on milking cows. The family that runs this farm are very kind. They have a lot more animals than I expected to see. They had buffalo, ostriches, longhorns, goats, cows, chickens, birds of prey, tortoises, and many more animals. After our short tour of the farm, we were free to explore the farm on our own and at our own pace. The kids loved running around and seeing all the animals. We finished our day enjoying a picnic near the longhorns. I highly recommend taking your little ones out to Manor to visit Crow's Nest Farm. read more

My sister and I took our two year olds this past Saturday during one of their open house days, which we saw on the Free Fun in Austin blog. We were there just shy of two hours, and the kids enjoyed everything. We took a hay ride, saw and learned about miking cows, and got to run around the farm and see lots of other animals.
