They pack a lot of foods in the area. It was crowded when we arrived. I think there were 6 people ahead of us and very little room to walk around. There was lots of produce and people picking up to go orders of steaks, ribs and smoked pork chops. I was thinking about a steak and the aromas definitely had me wanting steak. They were sold out of the ribs and smoked pork chops. We were lucky enough to get a t-bone and a ribeye. They looked great. I also picked up fresh yellow squash to stew. We had 3 meals from the 2 steaks. The steaks were delicious and the meat tender. If you are interested in their meats for sale on the weekends, please call ahead to reserve your selections. Next time we will call ahead so hubs can get the ribs he was hoping to eat.

I went inside to Ayers where they had a room full of people looking at their produce. I noticed the prices for produce seemed higher than other places where I have shopped in the last week. Tomatoes were in two different areas of the store. One display placard said tomatoes for $2.49 a pound. The other placard said Amish tomatoes for $4.99 a pound. After looking at the $2.49 tomatoes, seeing some were overripe and leaking, I went to look at the $4.99 a pound Amish tomatoes. There were 5 of us checking these tomatoes out. Hubs handed me a bag and I put 1 tomato in it. He picked out another tomato and put it in the bag. The squash and zucchini were larger than I like so we went to check out. I paid $11.67 for my two tomatoes. They were on the large side. As for taste, they taste good. So far the best tomatoes I have eaten were bought from The Fresh Market. Those tomatoes were grown in Kentucky. If you are looking for multiple types of fresh vegetables and fruits, Ayers has them. I will have to return early when the farmers are there to see their produce. It's always good to support local businesses.

The apples are theirs, and they are FANTASTIC! I grew up eating apples that we grew and that my grandparents grew, and I am very picky about them. Trust me on this one if you are an apple fan. The quality of the apples from the Crockers is terrific. We've had their Macintosh, Fuji, Ginger Gold, and others, although our personal faves are Fujis. The Crockers aren't at Pepper this year, but this morning, my wife tempted me with a trip from Birmingham up to the Crockers once the leaves are at their prettiest. It's a great drive to look at leaves, so to culminate it with buying a big bag of apples from the Crockers? Oh, yeah. Then on to ATL to see our daughter, spend the night, & come home the next day. Road trip!

I went to the Bailey cove market this morning because I saw Candies Con Fuego (baked goods and candies made with Carolina reapers) and a local butcher selling fresh lamb. I ended buying a couple popsicles from Suzy's, more dog treats from Muddy Paw's, iced coffee from Roosters Crow, obviously the candy from Candies Con Fuego, goat cheese, and lamb chops. I'm thrilled! And it's supporting local folks!!

The only thing I didn't like was the baked goods. I purchased a sourdough. It had caraway which is similar to rye and I do not like rye. I did however like the croissants I purchased but on the flip side the five cookies were meh. So more was bad than good. The other vendors I purchased from were wonderful. Eggs, bone-in pork chops, ground beef , dog treats (chicken claws) three types of greens, arugula, Bibb and romaine, and a frozen chicken were some of the things I purchased. I did notice only one vendor had fruit, strawberries, which sold out quickly. The next time I go I hope there is more to choose from. I will definitely return.

The blueberries were literally falling off of the bushed into our buckets. All the berries are organic. We were sad to miss the blackberries but will be back next year and come earlier to catch them. But, honestly the blueberries are so delicious I am not missing the blackberries much. They have a few different kinds of blueberries, and they are all delicious. They supply the local Whole Foods but sell there you-pick berries at less than a third the cost. They accept checks which is awesome, and sometimes sell peppers and tomatoes also grown organically on the site. It's a beautiful day outing to go picking berries. The owners are sweet and charming and will give you buckets you can tuck into your belt so that it's easy to pick them. We're so happy to have a freezer full of berries to last us awhile!
