St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey is part of the Ashford & St Peter's hospital trust…read more St Peter's is a huge hospital covering the Chertsey, Woking, Weybridge and Staines areas. It's incredibly close to the M25 and as such see much RTA action in its A&E department. All of the major types of medical specialisms are dealt with here either on an in-patient or an out-patient basis. As well as being a general hospital St Peter's is known for some of its specialities in particular its neo-natal unit. This unit is not without controversy and the standard of maternity care was, for several years, classed as very poor. Having used these services I can say that pre-natal care is very good but post-natal care for the mother is poor. The neo-natal unit, however, maintains a strong reputation. The A&E department is always busy and thankfully is split into a regular department and a paediatric department making it a good place for children. Parking at the hospital can be a nightmare as there are never enough spaces. Allow at least 30 minutes before any appointment to get parked and, if possible, go with someone else so that if you don't get a space at least you can be dropped off! You have to pay for parking and season tickets are available. The Friends of St Peter's perform a very good service and staff in general are friendly and reasonably efficient. It's certainly no worse than the majority of NHS hospitals.

The best thing about this hospital is the friendly staff. There is an elderly gent at the top of…read morethe escalator chatting to everyone to make sure they know where they are going. The lady in the cafe is always smiling and the reception staff are very helpful. Well done workers at St Peters :-)

The facility tends to be well used and is staffed by nurses in the first instance who will refer on as appropriate. Very young children cannot be treated here although they might be referred to the clinic run by the outsourced emergency care provider ThamesDoc. Emergency dental care is available. Physiotherapy has a unit here which is excellently run. The facility is large. Minor procedures are carried out at the community hospital and there are a number of specialist clinics. New Mums can make use of the health visitor and paediatric service in the form of a number of clinics including feeding clinics. In patient facilites exist, mainly for the elderly, those with mental health issues and those on dialysis. Car parking at the community hospital is in hospital car parks and charges apply at all times. This can be an issue at times and there have also been occassions when a space is hard to find.

The staff is very friendly, some less so - seem to be trained to varying degrees. Regardless, the facilities are often clean and pleasant, and the waiting area is large and suitable for both the elderly and children, even if in some cases small children cannot be treated.
