After 2 1/2 years of being involved with Bonaventure of Thornton, a shout out goes to the staff!…read moreFrom housekeeping, maintenance, care team, front desk and office personnel they are all kind, thoughtful, and go out of their way to help visitors, family and to take care of their residents. The vast majority of the staff knows each resident by name and knows many of their needs. So very grateful that this facility and their team are there to help Mom enjoy a wonderful, safe and fulfilling life!

The few good things about Bonaventure of Thornton is the sales person (Gloria) and the front desk…read morereceptionist (Evita). The programming staff (Trisha, Natasha) are also really nice. My parents lived there for 2 1/2 years and we had 4-5 executive directors, countless chefs, and the cleaning & maintenance staff was always in limbo. I only met the final executive director when I informed the staff that we were moving out. Crazy fees too - was charged $3000 "non-refundable community fee" at move in (For what? Who knows?), plus $500 for deposit, then was charged another $500 for "repairs" at move out (that we were never advised of, nor warned of - I was told there would be no additional fees at move out, but when I called to complain, I was told "Oh, you were told wrong, too bad.") The maintenance crew is always MONTHS behind. My parent's dishwasher was leaking the entire time they lived there - never got fixed. We were promised a driver "anytime they needed to go somewhere" - then the hours kept getting less and less. Now, it's down to just a few days per week, limited hours. And then let's talk about the elevators. If you are going to move in to this place and struggle to climb stairs, I would STRONGLY suggest only moving into a first floor apartment. There are only 2 elevators in the whole place (not sure how that is in code, but whatever...). I would guess that 75-80% of the time, at least one elevator was broken, so only one elevator for the entire place. On one of the days we were moving them out, BOTH elevators were broken...at a senior living facility! I think some of the local staff try to do the best they possibly can and they are very nice to the residents, but the corporate people at Bonaventure care only about profit and are doing everything they can to make it look nice (it is a beautiful facility), but then when you start to peel away a bit, you start to notice the cracks and the corners being cut to drive up profit. Go in with your eyes WIDE open - ask A LOT of questions and be prepared to advocate for yourself and/or your loved one who is moving in.

Rehab portion is dismal at best. Small cramped rooms with nothing cheery about them, and roommate…read morewith only curtain between. Sheets had holes in them, and only that thin sheet between resident and plastic mattress (like a cot mattress). One wooden chair in room for visitor. When not in bed, resident sat in wheel chair. Facility has not been kept up. Water leak from roof filled a large plastic trash can and required move to another room. Some people live here full time and wander the halls! Mom said the care staff were nice and helpful, and that is how it seemed, but very short staffed and long waits when call button pushed. Bathroom old and hard to manuever with walker or wheelchair, no private shower. Therapy though was good, although not frequent and not on weekends. Food was ok. My Grandmother lived at Sunny Acres for 10 years, both in an independent living apartment and memory care. That is one reason we chose this facility when Mom needed rehab, plus fairly good ratings and reviews. What we experienced here was nothing like our previous contact with this facility. Very disappointed and sad. It's a disgrace.

It doesn't work...at all. Stays blinking constantly. Therefore the response time is long or nonexistent. The help said they have requested help three times from maintenance with no results. So my blinking room light gets ignored at the nurse call station. Shouldn't this be illegal in a rehab center? I'm not feeling like I can get help in a timely fashion to my needs.

Everyone, from the administrative staff to the nurses, cnas, his social worker, physical therapy, and maintenance staff, show up every day and provide superior care for him. I appreciate that the medical staff are attuned to his needs, scheduling the healthcare appointments he requires and following through with his aftercare. They communicate frequently with me and keep me in the loop about his care. Equally as important is the wonderful atmosphere created by the warmth and genuine concern of the staff for each resident. In many ways some of them have begun to feel like family to us. We all hear terrible stories about nursing homes, but after four years I can say unequivocally that Skylake Post Acute is an excellent nursing facility. Doing this kind of work isn't easy - I believe it's a calling. And they do it very well.

The people that work the hardest, that make or break your Patient care are treated the absolute worst.
