In terms of Newsagents, there is far more of a mini-supermarket breed that seems to be taking over in Leeds, one that is supposed to sell any staple you need, but somehow fairls to do it well.
Unlike these, Crossleys is your simple newsagents that sells papers, magazines, tobacco, some minor forms of stationary and of course, sweets.
I like Crossley's because it hasn't gone for a facelift, but is fairly traditional in its method to get the newspapers of the land into your hand (no distractions with any food products other than sweets). They have a vast array of sweets, from the newer variety to the sherbert dib-dab types from yesteryear, and it really (without sounding old, which I'm not) reminds me of the corner shops of my childhood: uncomplicated with friendly staff, who probably live upstairs.. read more
