We always used to read the music magazines when I worked in a bar, mostly to read recent band reviews, but more mostly to look at the pictures and pass the time in the quiet hours. No Title is just that little bit different though. Actually reading the opinions within did not make me want to drink the bar dry with boredom - they were actually fun, well written and encouraging when it came to bands I didn't know about. Also, their graphics and design are second to none - truly fantastic and exciting to view. They've had more interesting title pages featuring local artists than I could count - let's just say *lots* for argument's sake. If you come across a copy pick it up, you'll find it'll be a real keeper. No Title is vibrant, colourful, well written and relevant to all music lovers in Leeds.

They have all the latest gossip on things like the line up for Leeds Festival, Moor Music Festival, new nights at Subculture, gigs on at the Brudenel Social...I could go on. You can find it in any of the independent record shops, - Crash, Jumbo - pubs like The Chemic and The Fenton and bars - North Bar, Baby Jupiter and Dry Dock. Its available in about 50 places so you should stumble across one soon enough. And did I mention its FREE?

There is a wealth of nice glossy magazines out there for general consumption but there aren't…read moreactually too many that focus on the city. Absolute Leeds is one such publication. It's pretty to look at too. I like shiny, pretty things and this fits the bill. The same people behind the Yorkshire Post are behind it and it covers a good guide to some of the action unfolding in the area. You'll find plenty of features, ranging from local DJs to restaurant owners. The listings section also offers some suggestions for the upcoming month and as you'd expect the club listings let you know which hot spots to hit and when. It also manages not to be too "local" and offers more than a smattering of fashion, celebrity talk and a look at the world at large. On the downside, it does have rather too many advertorials for my liking but they need to pay the bills somehow. It's not the most in-depth look at all things Leeds but it's worth a few quid of your hard earned money from time to time.

For some reason, I feel the need to approach them like Big Issue sellers. Which, of course, they are not. They probably think of me as an idiot. Which, of course, I am. More importantly, the paper? It's a decent daily read. Compared to others, it's better. I like the weekend sections. The music stuff is good and the restaurant reviews are always reliable. Like this place then, eh? ;-)

It does feel like, since I've been here for so long, that I am now really more of a local than a long term visitor. It's not exactly high brow reading, but then what local paper is? The stories within are everything cutting edge about Yorkshire, all important restaurant reviews, night life information and cute local stories about schools and so on. It seems to have great coverage of all areas of Yorkshire, as opposed to focusing on the bigger cities, and where national news is most poignant the YEP will cover that too - such as the Iraq Inquiry. Their website is pretty reader friendly too. And, as Jonny mentions, it just wouldn't be the same without the army of old boys who steadfastly sell the local news at their local stands.

Attempts to get us to book for online advertising and print advertising there and then on the phone. Not professional. Will never work with this company again. The MD Daniel Murray is rude,and not a nice person to deal with. Their online reviews seem very biased and they don't give a fair representation. We all seem pretty well immersed in the internet culture these days, which is fine and we should…read morebe. However, I'm still partial to my daily paper and like to be able to chill out with a good cup of steaming tea and some news and entertainment. I have many weapons of choice at my disposal but I do often pull out the Yorkshire Post. It's a broadsheet style publication and is produced nationally. Obviously Yorkshire is a big area to cover but it does so well. The style is very much aimed at your Yorkshire proud market but those who may also buy a copy of the Times or Guardian. With the news staples comes interesting and varied features, great sports coverage and ample supplements on a weekly basis. Indeed, if you want to know what is going on around our fine city then Friday's Culture is a must. Excellent reviews, through coverage and more than enough of interest from films to theatre, art to events. There is also a comprehensive what's on section at the back which should arm you with plenty of ideas for the upcoming week. What I also like about it is it's not ashamed to celebrate how good our great county is. Why shouldn't we, I get enough about London and the south everywhere else. It's a snip too and is a good way to spend those coins gathering fluff in the bottom of your jean pocket. Plus it'll point you towards their website too which offers plenty of videos and more indepth features and stories for you audio and visual lovers.

If, like me, you ever struggle to choose between about three sandwhich options then you may be liable to be frozen in cant-decide panic at the endless choices presented to you by Abu Bakar! Even the halva section appears to be never ending! They sell a wide selection of vegetables, a broad variety of juices, endless rows of pulses, spices, herbs, cakes, bread, jars of pickled items, huge sacks of rice and flour - possibly aimed at businesses but may be handy if you live in a big house, loads of condiments (including some very mysterious and tantalising items such as a pot of chololate and cherry something...spread?...whose ingredients list was in Polish only). Homeware-wise they have pots, pans, crockery and kitchen utensils. There is also a halal meat counter. As Susan mentions, Abu Bakar is aimed at the Aisian community, but for anyone like me with boringly British culinary habits it is a fascinating and exciting place of endless possibilities and obscure and intriguing ingredients.

The staff are really helpful, and the nearby parking means it's ideal if you need to do a large shop but don't want to do the supermarket run. Worth stopping by to check out the huge range of exotic fruit juices - hangover heaven.
