The park, named after a for parks and recreation director named Julius Breckling (not listed on this Yelp page with his name), was huge - 39 acres huge. Lol. The cons were: - trash scattered sparingly on the ground - sus characters - some areas that were worn out/ run down - parking fees (see below) - no restrooms available - none that we saw Pros: + amphitheater + dogs on leashes okay + playground area + sculptures throughout + shaded sitting areas + splash pad (there were two of them, but only one was operable that day) + terraces + walking paths + water fountains + nearby pedestrian bridge + The Little Rock monument near the bridge Parking was $3 per hour for 8 hours maximum - enforced 24/7. The kiosk accepted coins or card payment only.

Rightly so... the mill is supposedly the "last standing structure" from the movie "Gone With The Wind." The gates opened at 8 AM. Entry was free. By the time we got there, a small group was already taking professional-like photos of their model. The landscaping was nicely manicured. Some of the plants and flowers or trees were labeled with little signs. My girls liked climbing up into the replica "water-powered grist mill." We didn't stay long as dogs were not allowed on the grounds. Our dog stayed in my Jeep while the air-conditioning was on since it was in the upper 80s already. Pinnacle Mountain State Park is a nice place to to spend your day doing hiking and it's only about…read more20 minutes from downtown Little Rock. I spent a few hours hiking on one of the more difficult hiking trails and it was a great experience! The trail was clean and well labeled, but the only difficult part was locating the same trail markers going down the mountain, especially since there are so many rocks and boulders throughout the entire terrain so it was very easy to miss several trail markers on the way down. I love that the state park offers a variety of trails and difficulty levels, so whether you are a beginner hiker or a more experienced hiker, you are bound to have a good time. I enjoyed the trail and the experience of doing some rock climbing, and if I'm ever in the area again I will definitely come back!

For context, we were told there is a "hard" side or an "extra hard" side to hike LOL. We chose the "hard" side. You do need some moderate physical fitness - a good portion of the "trail" was just spray-painted yellow marks on large rocks and boulders you have to climb. But we did it all in under 2 hours? Great views from the top, and there is a wonderful playground in the middle of the parking lot too! What a unique and fun experience. Honorable mention: we saw a raccoon in a Christmas sweater.

My son is a history fan and loves to learn about WWI and WWII so this was a favorite for him.

The tour took about an hour and was well worth doing. They also have another WW2 vintage ship there, the Hoga that was actually at Pearl Harbor. The museum is nice, especially the model of Pearl Harbor, though its indicator lights don't work.

Seems they only have monthly or yearly subscriptions when you sign up to pay. They only take credit cards - no cash at the charity stand. I expect it's probably different to cancel once set up. I was shown a website of which does show a spot for a one time donation. Likely once done many emails and other forms of request for more support and so, more money. I chose to decline because of these factors. As there are so many organizations out there all in need of support and it is good for anyone donating to check them out wisely.

Visiting the Little Rock Central High National Historic Site was a must for me as I feel it's…read moreimportant to bear witness to history. In 1957, nine Black students integrated Central High. This integration was considered a test of Brown v. Board of Education that found that "separate but equal" was unconstitutional. The National Historic Site consists of the Visitor Center/Museum, Little Rock Central High School (which is still an operating school), the Commemorative Garden, the Magnolia Mobil Station (which served as an impromptu press base), and the Elizabeth Eckford Bus Bench. It is managed by the National Park Service. Admission is free and they allow photos. The museum is small and does not take very long to walk through, though it will take some time if you read all of the panels and watch the videos. They offer guided tours on certain days. If you're doing a self-guided tour, you cannot enter the school. Central High School is very beautiful. The architecture is a blend of Art Deco and Gothic Revival. Climbing the stairs was an extremely heavy feeling that I wasn't prepared for. As I ascended the stairs, I imagined what it would have felt like to walk through angry mobs just to go to school. It was honestly overwhelming and I don't know if I would have been able to endure such hatred and discrimination. I'm grateful to the Little Rock Nine for their courage, perseverance, and resiliance.
