Let's start out with the staff. Heidi, the owner, is incredibly easy to get ahold of. You can text her, or you can send her an email, and she'll be back to you ASAP. The fact that you can know the owners name says a lot. I've lived at locations where I had no idea who worked the front desk, let alone who the owner was. On top of that, Tyler, the maintenance guy, and his team are fabulous. If you contact Heidi, maintenance will generally be there within 24 hours. They're a bunch of friendly guys, who really know what they're doing, and who (I swear) can fix anything. We've had several issues that we've called them for and every time they've been nothing but friendly, and even stopped to chat with us. If it's something hardcore that they need to fix, they'll go out of their way to get the parts necessary to ensure your apartment gets back to normal ASAP.
The townhomes themselves are nice. The bedrooms are large, you get 2.5 bathrooms--possibly more; we lived in one of the smaller townhomes for $975 a month and that was 3 bedrooms 2.5 bathrooms. Everything was pretty spacious, and we had a garage for extra storage. A nice kitchen too, with lots of storage which we really needed. Really, the only issue was parking, and that was less the problem of the company, and more an issue of our neighbors. Everyone in the area gets three parking spots, but a lot of our neighbors seemed to have five or six cars for some reason, so they'd park behind our cars and then there was no way to get out half the time.
It's a quiet neighborhood. It's far enough away from campus that you don't have to worry about crazy stuff going down, but close enough to both sides of town, as well as the square, that you don't feel like a madman for wanting to go somewhere. Not really within walking distance of anything outside of Buffalo Wild Wings, Crescent Donuts, and Hinkles but, eh. Within biking distance of more than that, obviously.
The 4 bus and (I think, this part may be wrong, I'll edit this if I remember to check) the 3 bus both stop outside regularly, so for those people who ride the bus, that's not a problem.
I highly recommend Whittington Commons to, say, grad students, or even undergrads who are looking to get away from campus, or even just small families looking for a nice townhouse to stay in. I'm really glad we picked the place.
