The steam room is one of my favorite amenities, and I really appreciate how good of a job the staff does at maintaining the cleanliness of the steam room. I've also become a fan of the cryolounge recently. It's a great and comfortable way to get some cold therapy. I'll even do some remote work on my phone after my work out while chilling on one of their cryolounges. Their staff is very kind and attentive. They always have a welcoming smile and are sure to say bye on the way out. They're consistently cleaning the towels and do a great job upkeaping the equipment. This In-Shape location has a good selection of free weights and machines. It can fill out a bit at peak times, but I have always been able to find a way to get a full workout in. I do wish they had a dedicated space to stretch, do yoga, floor based workouts, and cardio such as ladders, boxing, or even dancing. They had 2 dedicated spaces for this when they first opened this location, but these spaces are now used for group classes. The larger room on the base floor is still available for free use when classes are not scheduled, so keep an eye on the schedule if you want to utilize it for your workout. While I miss being able to do all the activities mentioned before in those rooms, it is great to see the rooms utilized to their fullest with the group classes.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel parents deserve to know what to expect…read more I enrolled two children in paid swim lessons at In-Shape Seven Oaks. These lessons are not included with my membership. They are a separate service that I paid for, so I expected them to be run professionally. Unfortunately, the lesson started about 25 minutes late and ended 20 minutes early. My children did not receive the full lesson that I paid for. That is simply unacceptable. After I raised my concerns, several other parents shared that this has been an ongoing issue for them as well. One family told me this was their third week experiencing the same problem and that they had already brought it to management's attention, but nothing had changed. That was the most disappointing part of this experience. I do want to recognize Carolina, the swim instructor. She has been wonderful with the children, and this review is not about her. It is about the lack of organization and accountability from management. Seven Oaks has a reputation for being one of the premier In-Shape locations, and I expected much better. If you're going to offer paid swim lessons, they should begin on time, end on time, and provide the full instruction that families are paying for. Parents arrange their schedules around these lessons and spend their hard-earned money expecting the service that was advertised. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary changes so future families receive the quality of service they deserve.

The staff here is friendly and helpful in answering questions that my friend and I had. It has a similar layout to other locations that I've been to, but I definitely noticed some slight differences. There's a wider variety of machines, plenty more dumbbells, and a small turf area. Like other locations, personal training is available here too.

They seem to be there just to be friends and hang out like a bunch of high school students. This gym is brand new, maybe a year to a year and a half old at most. The bathrooms are always dirty. I don't know when the staff actually cleans them, but it seems like they never do. I typically go in the morning, and they're dirty. Lately, I've started going in the afternoon, and it's the same issue: dirty bathrooms. Someone left their Crocs on the locker room floor, and they were there for about five days before someone actually picked them up. There is usually trash and dirty shirts left on the locker room floor for days before they are ever picked up. Then there are the elliptical machines. I believe there are about eight of them, and five are currently broken, starting from left to right. Three have out-of-order signs on them, and the other two do not, but the right-side pedals don't work properly. Yet nothing seems to be getting done about it. For a gym that is practically brand new, it shouldn't already be in this condition.

Yes, you still have to deal with the stereotypical annoying gym people. The guy with the hoodie on who looks like batman slamming weights, the girls doing "leg" exercises snapchatting the entire time, and even the guy doing speed rope in the dumbbell area. Oh that's right, don't forget the guy with headphones on rapping louder than he should. Besides that, staff is hit or miss. Some have an inflated sense of self while others are very helpful. But the shining stars are the rock wall staff! They'll help you strap up, coach you, and help you conquer your fears! You go rock wall staff! Best gym in Bakersfield!

Anyways, the reason for me rating this one star is because I got there today and there was a homeless person covered up by the bike rack at the front entrance sleeping. I told the guy at the front desk when I was leaving and he said "well yeah but he's not really bothering anyone, what do you think?". I told him I don't like seeing that at all. This is unacceptable. The manager needs to know about this type of bullshit going on and fix it. I'll be cancelling my membership and going somewhere else because of this. So Bxchange, "what do you think". Update 10/22/19 I appreciate the feedback from my previous review from the owner. I went back in to give them the benefit of the doubt last night after a two week break from BX and the area has since been cleaned up and no signs of vagrants sleeping at the entrance. I do really love the very well maintained machines and clean weight room, thank you bx for handling the situation. If something like this happens in the future I'll be sure to let the staff know more clearly that the situation can not be accepted.

It's clear no one is keeping up with maintenance or cleanliness. The staff is completely unprofessional. Most of them look like they've never used a gym themselves, and they clearly don't care about helping members. When I asked a basic question, I was ignored and brushed off. Even worse, after I posted a truthful review about my experience, I was retaliated against. My membership was suddenly flagged, and I was treated with hostility during my visits asked to leave -- all because I shared an honest opinion.
