My first experience with CrossFit, worried that I should already look the part and act a certain way, I was pleasantly surprised to find that CFPR is truly a welcoming environment for everyone! All shapes and sizes, all abilities and strengths are embraced wholly and without judgement. Workouts are catered to meet each individual's need for their own, personal strength and exercise journey. Coaches are mindful, friendly and motivating. Examples and modifications are offered, tips and best practices are suggested and you are set to get as much as you want out of your time in the gym. read more

Great exercise option for active older adults. Knowledgeable and personable instructors. The perfect amount of intensity of strength training, cardio and balance. Small classes. Close, friendly community. I have heard good things about the classes for younger people (younger than 55). read more

One year in at CFPR and love everyday. It's the highlight of my day and has turned me into a morning person. The format takes all the guess work out of 'what to work on today?'. Show up, learn technique to stay safe and make improvements, then work. The classes are small, but you're able to reserve a spot well in advance to plan your week/month. Not only are the workouts challenging, but highly varied so you never get bored and can be scaled to accommodate all levels of fitness. Let's not forget the coaches. They're supportive, dependable, educated, and professional. Each one brings their specialty to the classes. read more

I've been attending small group training with my aunt for the past couple weeks and omg, Emily has totally turned me into someone who won't stfu about how awesome CrossFit is. Whether your goal is to feel strong, lose weight, or just get off your butt, Emily is really good at being the proper mix of motivating and understanding when you're just not going to make it through that last rep. My aunt has a limited fitness background and I'm just plain out of shape -- she's awesome at tailoring the workout to not overwhelm or intimidate, and she goes out of her way to tell us how we can replicate the workouts at home. If you want to surround yourself with positivity and find yourself glowing and flexing your newly found muscles at every opportunity, you should totally check out CF Phinney Ridge. (The only thing keeping me from getting a full membership is the thought of a thrice-weekly drive from Bellevue to Seattle :'( ) read more

I should probably start this off by saying that for the longest time, I hated CrossFit and thought the concept of being "very good at exercising" was dumb. For this reason, I stuck with my standard chain gym membership. The problem was that I couldn't hold myself accountable to actually attend said chain gym regularly. After an absurd amount of research, I decided to give in and I'm really happy I did. With a set schedule, you feel more inclined to show up and you're surrounded by people pushing you to do your best work. The coaches are also really encouraging and knowledgable. The game changer is that classes are pretty small so you don't get lost in the crowd with really bad form if you're new to the lifts. And if you ever need extra love, the coaches will be there to give it. All you have to do is show up, work hard for an hour, and get back to your day. After just a few months, my pants are starting to fit and I can kettle bell swing a small child. CrossFit might not be for everyone, but it's definitely worth trying out and this is a pretty solid place to start. read more

I've been doing CrossFit on a while but I moved around from gym to gym, never really finding a place that felt comfortable, friendly, and also pushed me to get better. Then I found CrossFit Phinney Ridge. The gym is fantastic. No other way to put it. Everyone is welcoming, excited to see you, and will push you to get better in the best way possible. The class sizes are perfect, capped at 12, and the coaches are awesome. The coaches are knowledgeable, helpful, and focus on form! Emily, the owner, has picked a fantastic staff and their training and knowledge shows just how much they care. If you're just starting out at CrossFit, you won't feel pressured or intimidated like at other gyms. We're just happy you're there to share in what we love to do and we're excited to see you make PRs and learn new skills. If you're a veteran at the sport, you'll fit right in. By the end of the hour everyone will know your name and you'll be excited to come back. read more

Really enjoyed my first class at CrossFit Phinney Ridge. The instructor watched and corrected for form and was happy to suggest modifications for injuries. The studio was clean and well put together in comparison to other CrossFit gyms I've visited. read more

Take a very cool owner/trainer, add a few more knowledgeable and supportive trainers and add a great community of people and you get Crossfit Phinney Ridge. This is the third Crossfit Gym I have been a member and let me tell you, its one heck of a good time. Class sizes are a perfect size. You aren't lost in the mix and never wonder if you are in correct form. Its a challenging workout each time and you find yourself always wanting to come back for more. All the coaches are not only precise and attentive, but very supportive and encouraging throughout the hour. Never will you feel out of place. Whether you are new to CrossFit or exercise in general, there are always options to scale down to meet your needs, but still maintain that "burn." Finally, the community. We are just a great bunch :). read more

This gym has changed my life! Signing up to take the fundamentals course is one of the best decisions I've ever made. The fundamentals course gave me an introduction to the basic movements I would need to be successful in my transition to regular group classes. Once I started participating in regular group classes I quickly realized that this gym takes form very seriously and holds it as priority number one. Scaling exercises to an individual's abilities is encouraged until you gain strength and mobility to progress in certain movements. Therefore, everyone has a personally challenging yet safe workout experience. Along with high regard to safety this gym has solid programming and a very welcoming, friendly, neighborhood feel. I've never felt judged or uncomfortable when working out. People are friendly and the gym has a monthly social activity so you'll likely end up making pretty good friends with the members. I highly recommend this gym to people looking at switching boxes or to anyone thinking of trying out crossfit for the first time. read more

My girlfriend and I were visiting Seattle from out-of-town, and this little nook was walking distance from our place. Meagan was there when we arrived; she was very friendly and got us all signed up. Meagan gave me some great feedback on my split jerk and press. The class size was small, it looked like their 5:30pm class was a little bigger. Overall, it was a great box and instructor. Thanks for having us! read more

Crossfit Phinney Ridge is a great place to learn the basics of Crossfit, as well as expand your existing knowledge as well! The coaching staff is fantastic, and always filled with energy (even at 5am), which is very hard to do! Every day is a different workout, so you never get bored and feel stagnant or in a routine. The Crossfit Phinney Ridge community is amazing, and the friendships that I have made here will last for forever. The people you are working out with know exactly how it feels to get through a tough workout, and are there to be your biggest supporters to help you finish. It truly is a family! read more

Crossfit Phinney Ridge is a great gym. Emily has designed a great workout program that emphasizes core, safety, and great physical development. Each workout is unique and pushes me beyond what I would accomplish on my own. The coaches are fabulous, well-educated, and well-trained. They are concerned about each individuals progress and health and will adjust the work-outs as needed. They are energetic and excellent motivators! I also enjoy working out with my fellow athletes. Everyone is motivated to do their best each day and encourage you to complete the workouts successfully. It's a great community to be a part of and I leave the 5:30 AM Class feeling like a super buff rock star! read more

I've been to a few CrossFit gyms in the Seattle area, and this was the one I stuck with. It seems like a small thing, but right away I loved it because of the times that the classes were offered -- CFPR starts bright and early with a 5:30 time slot. Makes my workout totally doable before work. I also like that I have to sign up ahead of time and can't cancel at the last minute. It keeps me honest! But more than that, I love coaches Emily and Jenelle. They're kind and supportive while also pushing me to challenge myself. They set the tone for an atmosphere that is not aggressive but can be competitive in a friendly way. That means EVERYONE I've ever been in a class with at this gym is encouraging and approaches the workouts with a fun sense of humor. Because the class sizes are limited to a sensible number of people, each person can also get individualized attention. Classes don't feel rushed, and no one's allowed to get away with bad form. Ensures safety and a good workout for all! read more

I've been going to Crossfit Phinney Ridge for two months now and I am over the moon. I have never been this happy with a gym experience in my entire life. While I have a long ways to go, to reach my fitness goals, the changes to my formerly, very soft body, became evident fairly quickly, and continue to surprise me on a weekly basis. As a crossfit newbie who was fairly out of shape, I was rather intimidated by this workout craze. However, both Emily (owner/trainer) and the general atmosphere at the gym, made me feel at ease right away. The workouts are tough, but doable. The community is friendly and encouraging to all, regardless of skill level. Emily is knowledgeable, approachable and very obviously invested in her clients' success. I never thought I would be the kind of person who looks forward to working out. Crossfit Phinney Ridge has made me so. read more

An outstanding community gym. Emily strikes a nice balance between making workouts enjoyable and pushing you to improve. The gym's emphasis on building strength alongside the more traditional CrossFit "burner" type workouts has proven very effective for me and many other members. I would describe the programming as intentional and effective. The community feeling in the gym is warm and welcoming of all levels of fitness. This is the first gym I enjoy going to even though it challenges me. read more

Dropped in this week. Super friendly people. First class free. Well kept equipment. Good workout. Definitely recommend! Seemed like a nice community read more

This is the perfect crossfit gym. It's modern and clean; the trainers are hilarious and will kick your butt. It's beginner friendly too, I did the 2 week intro series and am now good to go for group classes. Work outs of the day are solid and varied, you wont get bored. A+ guys! read more

When I started I thought, "Wouldn't it be funny, and totally unlike me, if I became one of those super strong, athletic people who goes to the gym all the time?!" And yea, that's pretty much what's happened. 3.5 months in I feel and look like a million bucks. I LOVE going to the gym, which I seriously never thought would happen to this couch potato. Emily and other coaches are fantastic. They encourage me to push myself just hard enough, always watching for form and safety. I've really got a great community now and support network based around CrossfFit! Can't speak highly enough about it. read more

CFPR is the bees knees. I love the 5:30 am class time so I can get my workout on before work and the teachers are phenom. They all care about making sure you work hard, without compromising form to prevent injury. From themed workouts to happy hours to nutrition challenge, this gym is one heck of a community - Emily also puts in a lot of effort to be part of the Greenwood/Phinney community....and that I really appreciate! read more

If you like rows elliptical machines and treadmills in front of televisions, or muscle isolation exercises and loads of attitude, then I suggest looking elsewhere. If you want to get into, and stay in, the best shape of your life, with increased strength, endurance, and mobility in a friendly, low-key environment, then give CrossFit Phinney Ridge a try. I've done CrossFit for a while at a number of gyms and feel that with it's variety of movements and focus on functional exercises, utilizing multiple muscle groups at once, CF really is one of the very best ways to stay fit. However, every gym is different and some can be more aggro than others. With her top notch crew of knowledgable, encouraging, and compassionate coaches, Emily has created a fantastic place to work hard and have fun, with a neighborhood feel, for a wide variety of ages and abilities. The primary focus is on proper form, community, and encouragement - all of which keep you injury-free and stoked to keep going. read more

I just started working out here and let's just say intimidation was the main concern...until I actually started. Communication with the owner was prompt, precise and reassuring. The two ladies that led the fundamentals class are not intimidating, geeky and fun (in a good way),thorough and safe. I've been to other CF before and let's just say that my proverbial testicles will never be big enough. I don't feel threatened and I get a decent workout. Brett is also a very thorough teacher. He's all about form and I'm glad that he helicopters the participants. Emily is also great and down to earth . My boyfriend has been attending for months and I think it's safe to say he's fully committed. Arrive a bit early. Parking is unavailable sometimes. read more

This is an awesome crossfit gym. A very home-y, friendly group, outstanding coaches and great results. I have been going to this gym for about eight or nine months and a huge part of the reason why I love this place is the coaches. You get individual attention throughout each workout. They keep you accountable but are not overly pushy. They are 'instructors' in every sense of the word, and take the time out each day to go over technique, so you really learn a lot. Also, you get a lot of variety each day. I don't think I've ever done the same workout twice at this place. Really, the coaches make working out fun. Definitely worth stopping by and checking out if you are at all interested! read more

I started crossfit 5 months ago, at Crossfit Phinney Ridge, and from the fundamentals class until now I have always felt a strong sense of community and support at the gym. The group motivation, the coaching, the butt kicking workouts, they keep me coming back, and my body thanks me! I definitely have a love hate relationship with crossfit, but I have never regretted a workout, highly recommend Crossfit Phinney Ridge! read more

Being sore all the time has never been so much fun. Seriously, you'll like it. You'll be stronger, faster and fitter in no time. The instructors are amazing - they are all encouraging, supportive, knowledgable and super fun (even at 5:30 am). Safety and form are always the #1 priority. The variety of work-outs is awesome - you'll never be bored. Lifting, rowing, running, wall balls, burpees, rope climb, box jumps, kettle bells, etc. - they have it all! WODs don't seem to ever repeat. The gym itself is on the smaller size, which is perfect because the classes are never too big. The members are all very welcoming, friendly, supportive and are made up of a wide range of ages and fitness levels. This incredible combo of factors makes exercising fun! I've gone to traditional gyms off and on for years and never had fun or found myself actually wanting to go. I've been going to CFPR for over a year and still love it, every single time I go. Crossfit is addictive and CFPR is such a rad place that you'll find yourself looking forward to your next workout. read more

I have been a member of CFPR for a few months now. My fiancee and I signed up for the Fundamentals course and are now taking group classes. I had no previous experience with Crossfit but have been completely satisfied with my experience so far at this gym. I have had the chance to work with 5 different coaches and they have all been awesome! Extremely knowledgeable and able to handle a class of all levels of experience and fitness. I have felt totally safe and comfortable with all of the workouts we have done in class. My main worry going in was having little weightlifting experience but there are always multiple options for the workouts to find something challenging but not dangerous. We live right down the street so this has also given us a chance to meet some great people who live in the Greenwood/Phinney area and I am sure we will meet more as we continue our traning. We couldn't be happier so far! read more

I really like this gym! After 3 weeks of the Fundamentals classes and a full week of regular classes, I have absolutely nothing to complain about. The coaches are all super nice and helpful, there is no high pressure to over-exert (and hurt) yourself, and the members are all super nice and friendly too. Highly recommend! read more

Looking for a tough workout in a friendly atmosphere? Crossfit Phinney Ridge is the place to go.
